Re: PGAL Check In 9/12

  • 1. How far along are you? 14 weeks 6 days (or 15 weeks 3 days)

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Anatomy scan in 4 weeks and announcing on Facebook (hopefully in the next week or two)

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Went and bought some more maternity clothes yesterday- Got some jeans, leggings and a sweater. My mom is going to give me a bunch of gift cards for my birthday so I will probably wait until then to go shopping some more- just really disappointed by the selection of maternity stuff in store. I don't mind online shopping but don't know how things will fit me.

Nausea has been gone for the past couple days- no gagging episodes all weekend but I've thought it was gone before and it came back...but I am hoping maybe its gone for good this time! I have had a raging headache since last night and finally caved in and took Tylenol.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. I need my cell phone of course, my inhaler just in case (I have asthma) and my pocket calendar/scheduler- especially these days with so many doctor appointments!

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?
Leaving the first trimester behind! And NT scan 9/20 and getting NIPT results hopefully this week. I keep saying it but I already had PGS which was normal, so these tests are more a formality but I'm still nervous they will show something else. I just can't seem to believe totally that things could be ok. Hearing the heartbeat at the doctor on Friday though for the first time was really, really special.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I also bought some bigger clothes this week- some in-between things that can transition as I get bigger.
Also feeling a little better, m/s is starting to subside but it came back even worse last time I started to feel better so I'm only cautiously optimistic. I have felt less tired though.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times.
phone, chapstick (I am a chapstick addict!) and sunglasses. I cannot stand to be in the sun without sunglasses!
  • @spartanrd4 I hate online clothes shopping, especially for clothing that you don't fit into yet! Luckily my sweet friend loaned me some comfy maternity stuff. She never throws anything away! And I can relate to the headaches. It sucks so bad. I hope you feel better this morning!

    1. How far along are you?
    13w1d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?
Announcing at work/to everyone next week hopefully.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Got the call that my bloodwork showed low risk for Down syndrome yesterday! I honestly would have been thrilled either way but it's nice to know I don't have to prepare for extra testing/special needs ahead of time. I like to be prepared. Also feeling much more fabulous as 2nd tri approaches! MS is pretty much gone now.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times.
Phone, epipen, pantyliner (you never know, especially the way this pregnancy has been!)
  • 1. How far along are you? 11w4d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? This Friday we have an appointment for a 12 week /NT scan and also go over the results from the NIPT. I've been holding my breath and sort of been living in denial/limbo with this pregnancy. I'm hoping this appointment will allow me to accept it all, as long as it goes well of course. PGAL brain though says this will just be the end, which will suck but at least I'll have an answer.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Even though I'm still having pregnancy symptoms I can't help but feel like I might be feeling somewhat better? Which of course is exactly what happened with my last MMC. Just gotta get through the week!

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all time: my wallet, checkbook and now potty cover/sheets for my toddler cause public bathrooms are gross.
  • @spartanrd4 OMG I also had a horrific headache Saturday night all through to Sunday. I broke down and took Tylenol too.
  • @Spartanrd4 I am right there with you with online shopping. There's so many more options to choose from but I never know how things will fit! It's so frustrating. I went shopping at Kohl's yesterday and they literally had 2 racks of maternity clothes most of which were summer clothes.

Also from another asthmatic to another:

@jenny0228Good luck with your NT scan! Hearing the heartbeat is so damn magical. <3
@Wishilivedinflorida Congrats on your results and happy to hear that MS is gone. Woo!
@Bok Bagok Good luck with your NT scan too! I know what you mean about kind of living in denial about this pregnancy. It wasn't until we made our announcement last week that I really felt like I could enjoy this time and allow myself to believe that things will go ok. PGAL seriously sucks sometimes.

    1. How far along are you? 14w5d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? We booked an elective US for next Wednesday to determine the sex so I'm stoked for that. Also I can't wait to feel some flutters!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My BFF is who is due exactly 2 weeks before me found out she's having another little boy. I'm so excited for her! Also the Giants won yesterday-albeit a fluke by the Cowboys last second but I'll take it.  :#

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. Chapstick, phone charger, & a pen. Nothing too crazy here.

  • 1. How far along are you? 13w3d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? I'm genuinely jealous of all the people already finding out the sex of their babies. I still have to wait over a month before I can find out... And I'm too cheap to pay for any extra stuff to find out early.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: No vomiting for 3 whole days and was SOO excited, but then I woke up today.... Let's just say, streak over lol.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. Phone, Wallet, Firearm. (Yea I know that's controversial, but I am incredibly safe with it and I practice quite often so that if I ever have to actually use it (and I hope and pray that I never do, but DH's job is quite terrifying so I need to be prepared) I can do so responsibly. And we already have strong plans in place to secure all firearms in our home (and on our body) so that little hands will never touch them.
  • @bok bagok I know what you mean about the symptoms going away being so nerve wracking. Mine started abating during the 11th week as well. I hope your NT scan goes well!

@EALasagna45 Thank you! It must be fun to be pregnant with your BFF. I have no pregnant friends right now because everyone already is done in my friend circle. And it amazes me that sex can be determined by US that early! I hope you get a nice long look at LO in there!
  • 1. How far along are you? 12 weeks 5 days

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? NT scan and appointment on Friday!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: This is officially the longest I've ever been pregnant so it feels good to clear that hurdle. I'm jumping on the headache bandwagon. They stopped around 9 weeks for me but it feels like they are kicking up again with some back pain. I also feel kind of strange in general, somewhat lightheaded at times. Might have to finally give in to the Tylenol this week.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times.  my phone, my date book/calendar and lipstick or chapstick

@Spartanrd4 and @Wishilivedinflorida Congratulations on yoru impending announcements!! I'm sure all your friends, family and loved ones will be so excited and happy for you!

@Bok Bagok I know how anxiety inducing PGAL brain can be, especially as we approach any milestone. I am here for you if you just need to rant and I will have my FX for nothing but happy news for you!!

@EALasagna45 SO EXCITING THAT YOU GET TO KNOW THE SEX SOON! Honestly, I'm a little jealous, I can't wait for you to find out in just two days! Keep us updated on what you learn! Also, my BFF is also due two weeks before I am!! It's been such a delight to have her on this journey with me. She's having team green twins :)

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Anatomy scan

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: just found out my best friend is pregnant and only a month behind me. Although I am happy for her, We were pregnant the same time when I experienced my loss and I have an extreme feeling of Dejavu. I don't really care to be around her until I have my baby. I feel terrible for feeling that way.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It's unfair that this is a "trigger" for you, but you have absolutely every right to feel the way you do. Triggers can come in all shapes and sizes. I am sending good thoughts your way.
  • 1. How far along are you?

    15 weeks 1 day

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?

Anatomy scan in 4 weeks buuut....

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:

We found out we're having a girl!!!!!  I'm stunned, shocked, excited, nervous and the list could go on. My baby boy will have a little sister??!?! AHH!!

I was 10000% team green but my husband insisted we found out. Well my type A took over then and I said if we're finding out I want to know before this huge county wide Consignment sale this week. So we paid the 75$ out of pocket. There was NO denying it. All girl lol

So now my need for positive vibes aka talk some sense into me o tell me Im not crazy maybe? I haven't been able to sleep much since we found out. (IDK if anyone remembers I was quite anxious about the possibility of having a girl) Anyway... I have had a name picked out ever since we found out we were pregnant. It came to me - that was the name if it was a girl. Well last night all I could think about it what if something still happens - we all know - waiting for that other shoe to drop. I thought last night maybe we should have another name picked out jic something did happen. IDK if that should ridiculous, awful or strange. But I thought if there was anywhere I could share a ridiculous, awful strange thought... it would be here.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times.

    chapstick
    cellphone
    mints
  • DaniBanani16  it might be controversial but I FULLY support being armed and wish I could go back to a state that had some sense and allowed that vs a state that insists you have to prove someone has been repeatedly threatening your life?!?! (I'm from Texas now live in Maryland)

jenny0228  Chapstick is WAY more important than even my cell phone sometimes- I get the addiction!

Bok Bagok  I love that you have your checkbook.  99% of ppl that see mine make fun of me but I use it weekly!
  • haha @vino831 I am originally from Texas as well! #TexansUnite

  • DaniBanani16  YES!!! Where are you from? I was born and raised between Austin and Round Rock. I miss it so very much. I get to go back to visit next month with DS, but considering this is baby #2 I think it will be a while until I go back. (I don't have a lot of family out there any more - just friends)
  • No way, I'm from the North Austin area! I actually went to RRISD schools for elementary through high school. What a small world! Did you go to HS in Texas? If so, we should switch to private messages and chat, haha!
  • Whoa yeah I sure did too... messaging you!
  • @vino831 I thought I was the only one left on Earth who uses a checkbook. I do it to try and keep myself from spending money carelessly, I don't have a debt card for that account so I need to either go to the bank and take out cash or have the embarrassment of writing a check in public. Lol.
  • @EALasagna45 that is super exciting that your BFF and you are pregnant at the same time!

and @mcdonald-bailey i'm sorry that its a trigger for you to be pregnant at the same time as your bestie.

My best friend (a woman) is married to another woman and they have two kids so they did IVF obviously because they used a donor sperm. I was going through IVF at the same time and my cycle failed AND I had a m/c while she was pregnant. I SO wanted to be pregnant at the same time as her, but it didn't work out that way.

Even though she is my closest friend on earth, maybe even closer to me than my own sister - I found it very hard to be excited for her about her pregnancy and kids while I was dealing with everything. And even now that I'm pregnant, I still have this weird "thing" about them. I truly hope it goes away but I'm sharing this just to say that our brains come up with strange coping strategies for what we've been through!
  • @Spartanrd4 How exciting to be announcing on FB soon! Yeah, the headaches are a bummer.. and Tylenol only lessens things somewhat for me.

@Wishilivedinflorida Great news from the NT! I know you'd be happy either way, but at least there's less of a chance of a heart defect and other health complications arising due to those chromosomal disorders.

@Bok Bagok I hope that you have a good NT scan and that you can start to look forward to this pregnancy. I understand the denial/limbo stage all too well.

@EALasagna45 That'll be neat to find out the sex on Wednesday! Are you going to have a reveal party?

@mcdonald-bailey I haven't been through it personally, but I think I would react the same way. You do what you need to do to prevent being triggered.

@vino831 I was Team Green, but I think DH has talked me finally into doing a reveal after our AS. I can understand waiting for the other shoe to drop - it's getting such big hopes up now to know the sex and have a name picked out. It's exciting but terrifying.

    1. How far along are you? 14+1

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Just looking forward to each passing week! Every day is a record from here on out. :)

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: We announced via FB Friday night, so everything is public now. I was congratulated in the teachers' lounge, where they told me I "still need to pop." Meh. I'm 14 weeks with my first. Give me a while. ;)

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. Credit card, cell phone, hair tie. Never know when I'm going to need the pull the hair into a pony tail.
  • @Spartanrd4 I hear you on buying maternity clothes online...if there were ever a time where a lady needs to try clothes on to make sure they fit, it's during pregnancy! Why do stores have such awful selections?!

@vino831 Congrats on a little girl!! How exciting! :)

    1. How far along are you? 15w2d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Finding out the gender (hopefully) and of course I can't wait to feel those kicks!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Nausea has passed. But gagging is here in full force. So that's fun.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. Hand sanitizer, a pen, and keys.

    Baby Boy: coming March 2017

  • @jenny0228 thank you for sharing your story. I'm actually her child's god mother from the pregnancy when we were pregnant at the same time and I don't have any weird feelings about him. I think I kind of just wanted my time to be my time. She also told me the day I found out what I was having so I could have been irritated at the timing of it. I still think I won't want to be around her which I'm going to have to explain to her and hopefully she takes it well and understands. I just don't want to be reminded of that tragic last summer. Now I'm just thinking about how to dodge her for all the upcoming holidays then my birthday in January. I don't want her to not be invited but I don't want her to be there

@DaniBanani16 thank you for your positive words
  • @dubcompanion yeah this head ache is still going strong- took tylenol and like you said, made it a bit more bearable but its still there :(
  • mcdonald-bailey  I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have a close friend that we have gone through same time pregnancies with loss more than once. She was pregnant and I experienced my first loss. Then I was pregnant and she had a loss – she didn’t talk to me the rest of my pregnancy with DS. All I can say is I didn’t give it second thought. You never know what your trigger will be and my place is to only be a friend and support her regardless. I hope that your friendship lasts through this. Also I think its fantastic of you to acknowledge this and communicate that with her – that will make a world of difference I hope she can accepts it

@Bok Bagok  I love that. So many people don’t make the efforts to control their spending when they need it. I do something similar with our primary savings but I have no card, no checks nothing to that account and there is no physical bank in my state lol. So if I need the money I have to do a transfer which takes 5 business days. That’s really helped us get creative and think harder before eve rtaking money out of there!

liepertsm  Thank you!!! I love being able to share with yall because I’m not going to share with family for another month!!

dubcompanion thanks for sharing! I’ll be excited to find out what you’re having!! I love the idea of team green but it there is still something super special about finding out with your so in that room!

  • 1. How far along are you? 15w5d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Midwife appt next Tues and getting a legit bump. I'm hoping she can tell me what a uterus feels like! I'm so confused by my innards right now! (See entire thread about it lol). DH is able to come with me so hopefully we can see the little Bean.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: RANT warning! My body is strange...I have no idea where my organs are anymore, I feel totally normal except for the random cramping day or night to remind me that my organs are moving, and this is probably TMI, I don't have the dark belly line yet but I've got spots on my chest! Little dry patches with the slightest pigment right in my clevage...I know your skin can do silly things but this is ridiculous...I think I've scared away my PGAL brain for now because she's behaving herself and letting me really enjoy being pregnant.

    4. GTKY: Name 3 items you have to have in your purse at all times. Besides the obvious phone and wallet I must have Altoids, pens, and various lip accoutrements (gloss/Chapstick/etc)
  • @DaniBanani16 It is seriously so awesome having a friend to share this crazy journey with! This is her third and my first so it's nice to run to her with concerns/questions instead of Dr. Google  :p I will definitely update once we have the results next week. T minus 7 days!

@dubcompanion We aren't planing a reveal party just because my husband and I really want to have "that moment" where it's just the two of us. I know some parents know the sex before the party but we felt that some of our family members may feel gypped if they knew we knew ahead of time. We just need to come up with a cute way to tell our parents now!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @dubcompanion That is seriously awesome how excited your husband is! You'll have to update here and let us know how the reveal goes. Do you have a date picked out?

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @dubcompanion I can't wait to hear about your reveal! My husband has also been overly excited recently and it's been so heart-warming to see. My parents sent us a crib and dresser and he was grinning from ear to ear and insisted we put it together right away together. He was VERY hesitant to get excited after our last loss (he took it pretty hard and internalized most of it) so it's such a beautiful change of pace to see him so excited now.
  • @EALasagna45  Yeah, he's cute, so I'll keep him. We find out Oct. 28 (assuming all goes well!) and most likely will have the gender reveal the weekend after that. He wants to do the cake and the whole shebang.
  • I am going to tell my Dad this weekend and then plan on making an announcement on FB next week some time. Just the thought of going public is giving me anxiety and my PGAL brain is starting to creep in wondering if everything is okay with the baby. This always happens to me- I have a great appointment and I am on a high of positivity for a few days and then I start thinking the worst again :(
  • @Spartanrd4 Same here about announcing publicly and suddenly doubting the viability. The blump (that no longer squeezes into regular pants if I try, so I'm all about maternity bottoms now) and other typical 2nd tri symptoms are helping the PgAL for now. My next appointment isn't for another 2 weeks though so the doubt will creep back up eventually.
  • Yeah I have to wait 3 more weeks for another appointment....I just have to keep telling myself- I heard the heartbeat last week, everything is fine. Nothing is happening to make me think anything is wrong- I've thought the worse at every ultrasound, every appointment and she's still here so why am I doing this to myself? Ugh PGAL really does suck sometimes- thanks for the pep talk @dubcompanion. Everyone IRL and even DH thinks I am crazy most of the time.
  • @Spartanrd4 No problem, friend. I will be a hot mess when the OB whips out the Doppler in 2 weeks. It'll be the first HB-only appt. this pregnancy with the same OB who diagnosed my MMC. I'm sure I'll need help being talked off the ledge a few days prior.
  • @Spartanrd4 and @dubcompanion I can completely relate. I'm terrified of announcing. I feel like everything will fall apart if I do, which is completely irrational and terrible to think. I'm already far beyond my loss milestones, and I've never made it to 2nd tri, let alone the second half of first tri, and I'm still here waiting for the other shoe to drop. PGAL brain sucks. I will say that I think that hearing some stories of 2nd tri losses here tend to feed my anxiety. I'm trying to stay calm and hopeful. I'll probably be using my doppler right before my work staff meeting where I plan to announce the news.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida One thing I've kept in mind with the 2nd tri losses, recent ones here anyway, is that they were diagnosed as almost verified chromosomal abnormalities. You and I have had good NT scan and sequential screening results so far... I know that doesn't rule out other potential complications, but that's a huge milestone to cross at this point. That keeps me going...
  • @dubcompanion Agreed. It is helpful to know. Also, your ticker has me confused because I'm still in 13th week and everything I've looked at says my baby is a lemon now and it's nectarine/peach in 14th week....why so much fruit confusion?! :D
  • @Spartanrd4 We're announcing for my husband's family tomorrow at a family wedding weekend. It scares me to no end that something will go wrong and they'll all know about it. They're a bunch of gossips and I don't like to be the family gossip. I'm also terrified they'll post all about my pregnancy on Facebook. I'm going to have to change my privacy settings. I hate being away from my Doppler and in the limbo land between having MS symptoms and being able to feel the baby move. PGAL brain apparently didn't go on vacation when I did.
