This meme is so accurate in my house. After a life threatening health situation, an emergency cesarian, a premature baby, and a month's long NICU stay, my H STILL talks about how uncomfortable the chair was he had to sleep in. I lay awake sometimes wondering how he made it through... Poor guy.
My appointment was last Friday but I didn't update and now have a question based on my results. I passed my glucose test - Yay! Still don't have HIV - whew (inset eye roll here since they've tested me twice previously). I am mildly anemic which is apparently rather common in twin pregnancies due to an insane increase in blood volume.
I need to to take an iron supplement, with a half a cup of OJ (which makes me cringe because my reflux is something serious). Anyone taking iron and NOT constipated? Wondering if I should just buy iron and colace today.
@DiFazette I have to drink a gallon of water every day, plus a quart of psyllium husk every night, but it keeps me regular - and the iron doesn't seem to affect that (I tried stopping taking it, and it seems that it's just regular pregnancy constipation).
@DiFazette I have iron transfusions quarterly due to severe anemia and haven't had the constipation problem yet. Water throughout the day definitely helps though!
I have my 28 week (I will be 27w3d) tomorrow and GT! I can't believe it's time for biweekly appointments.
27 week appointment tomorrow. It's the first of my twice a month appointments. I have my appointment, the glucose test, and will get a flu shot and tdap shot.
I wanted to take the whole day off work but decided I had better not in case I would need to do the 3 hour test, so I just took the morning off. Hopefully I don't feel too bad.
Thanks ladies. I had to take iron supplements before in life for an unrelated issue and know it slowed my digestion down. I already drink about 120 oz of water per day. We'll see!
BP check-up on Thursday. Hopefully I'm getting better. I called and asked if the results are in for my 24-hour pee test, and will be getting a call this afternoon. I'm hoping that because they haven't called me since last Thursday when I turned in the sample that I don't have preeclampsia. Not sure if I'll have to do it again.
@dmontgo I hate always being the mouthy broad about this, but ask a doc (even if negative for pre-e) at this time what you're chances are for developing. It's not an all or nothing thing. You can develop it at anytime so I'd want to know what it means either way and how you get checked again. My first was clear, my second was high, third was thru the roof.
@DiFazette Seriously, without you helping me back weeks ago, I probably wouldn't have even thought about preeclampsia since I have no prior history of BP issues---any advice you have I will take it. I didn't realize that you can get it later even if your test is clear. I write down all of the suggestions you have because I don't want to fuck around with this--so thank you for taking the time to care and help!!
I have my 28 week appointment tomorrow afternoon. It won't be anything special since I already did my GTT (my doctor does a 2 hour test and I passed!) I'm a little interested to see what has happened with my weight. I went into this pregnancy obese (and having lost ~40# before my IVF) and wasn't personally happy with my weight gain at my past appointment so I made adjustments to my diet (i.e I actually cared about my diet instead of eating a cheeseburger for lunch every day).
I'm a little late since I had my appointment last week at 25+4, but it was my first appointment where I finally didn't get any bad news, lol!
I was nervous for my appointment because we do an ultrasound every time I visit this doctor, and he wanted to check my cervix, and the measurements of baby since I have a heart-shaped/bicornate uterus. But baby was measuring right on schedule at 2 pounds, and he still has plenty of room to move around, and he would NOT stop kicking! He really didn't like the ultrasound tech, and would kick the wand every time she tried to move it. Cervix also measured normally, so he said that I don't have to come back until 4 weeks, woo!
I do have to see my OB next week though for glucose test @ 27 weeks, along with my RH- shot.
I have a regular checkup today, nothing really special going on. It will require me flying like a bat out of hell out of work today, sitting on the highway for about 50 minutes, and just barely getting there on time, just to spend 10-15 minutes in an appointment where I won't be seeing my actual doctor and nothing really of note will be done. I'm not complaining though, no action is good action at this point.
@karabearrr have you had the Rhogam shot before? It's a beast. Make sure they give it to you in your butt. I'm trying to get my TDaP and Rhogam both in my ass next appt. Doc side eyed me for the request but why should I have a sore ass and sore arm?
I have my 28 week appt Thursday. I'll be getting an ultrasound to check if my placenta previa has cleared and a growth ultrasound since I have only gained 4 pounds this pregnancy my doc is concerned (was normal weight prior to pregnancy and I've been lectured multiple times). I'll be getting my tdap as well.
I need to ask about the GD test since I haven't had it and it wasn't brought up at my 24 weeker. Also need to ask about feeling super weak half the time. Like on the verge of collapsing weak.
@DiFazette@Fauxpa the problem is that it comes and goes. No issues today but saturday afternoon was bad and yesterday was so so until about noon. Next time it happens, if before Thursday, I'll definitely be calling though.
@DiFazette I've used Floradix (It's a plant based liquid iron- so *supposedly* no/less constipation side effects? ) but I've been happy with it.
Had a repeat echo today- everything looks fine! Though there is possibly something amiss with baby boy's wrist... he had it bent in the ultrasound 6 weeks ago, and was bent again/still today the peri just said to keep an eye on it (I'll just be seeing the reg OB unless something comes up from here on out) and to mention it to our pediatrician right away if it stays that way. All the anatomy is correct, but from my Dr. Google search it could be a few things.... I didnt even know that was a possible thing!!
@DiFazette Got my urine results back--- they are great right now. I scored 141, and they look for numbers 300+. But like you said, it can change very quickly, so although I don't know exactly when I have the next one, I was told there will be another one--they will also be paying special attention to the pee at the clinic as well.
I asked what my chances are of developing it, and I was told that I am elevated risk, but they are hoping that by addressing it aggressively now that it won't be an issue later--but they are going to keep a close eye on me and prescribe medication as needed. I still have appointments every week until birth. They will be checking Ashton's growth and blood flow from the placenta.
I'm feeling better, but I know I'm not out of the woods until he is born.
Had my biweekly midwife appointment today along with a chiro appointment. Everything with the MW is going great. Found out I passed my glucose test, which I was super nervous about for some reason. I've gained more weight than I would have liked so far but I'm stabilizing now and starting to actually watch what I'm eating so maybe I can lose some bloat. Pregnancy is hard on my brain right now. I know I'm pregnant, not just fat. MW says it's nothing to worry about though so at least I know it's mostly all in my head. Loving my chiropractor appointments- definitely helping with lower back and hip pain!
@sourlemon I hear you, but you don't know when it's going to come on. What if you're at the top of stairs, or driving? I know you don't answer to me in any universe, but I'm not happy about this... LOL.
ETA @dmontgo glad to hear your numbers look good now! The monitoring sounds overwhelming, but necessary. FX all you have is elevated BP for the remainder of this!
@DiFazette I hear ya. My doctors office actually just called to reschedule Thursdays appointment and all they have available is tomorrow morning. I'll now miss half of my training that my boss just approved today. Ugh he won't be happy at all. But at least I'll see the dr sooner so I can bring this up.
@DiFazette I was put on an iron supplement last week due to mildly low hgb. I haven't experienced any constipation yet, but the discoloration is a real thing lol

This!!! With DS the gave it to me in the butt. With DD they gaveit to me in my arm. I had to get it after DD was born as well and I made them give it in my butt, way less pain!!!
I had my 25 week appointment today. I was happy to have it with a midwife as I have been seeing OB's so far. She was much nicer than anyone I have seen up until this point. I go for my GD test and Rh shot the first week in Oct, then and appointment the following week. I have gained 3 pounds so far this pregnancy, but from here on out I usually start gaining more.
Appointment this Friday, the beginning of biweekly's I need to ask about the Tdap since I am overdue for mine but have been waiting since according to CDC website, it's safest to get after 28 weeks.
We have an appointment at a 3D ultrasound place tomorrow! Can't wait, we are taking DDs with us I start biweekly appointments, I have one on Tuesday next week. I see midwives and doctors at my practice, and the midwife was like 'you could just cancel and wait till next month'. And I'm like, lady, sh*t gets real for me in the 3rd trimester. (But way more politely) The swelling and the high BP, plus I started seeing speckles in my vision today. I see my future, and in it I see on-the-verge-pre-e prior to RCS.
@dmontgo glad to hear your numbers are looking good. i'm on the elevated risk path too, but so far, my numbers are ok. Fingers crossed both of our numbers stay that way.
@dmontgo glad you are having good numbers right now. @DiFazette hopefully your iron isn't going to affect you too much.
. I have my first app after being transferred tomorrow. I'm scared and excited, because they could be completely different about my restriction/and maybe I'll get another US.

I have an appointment with a cardiologist on Thursday. My OB referred me last week since I've been having issues with my heart racing/pounding. I've been tracking my HR in case they ask and it seems like I'm at an average of 100bpm resting which kind of freaks me out a little but Dr. google doesn't seem too worried about. Hopefully everything goes well and checks out at my appointment.
@dmontgo not yet, though she has hinted that I'll likely deliver early, whether that's via induction or not, she hasn't said. I'm planning to ask her about it at my appointment next week though, cause it's starting to be on my mind as well.
I'm going in tomorrow morning to take my GTT and then I have a regular OB appointment on Thursday. My OB only sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursday's but I have a 9:30 class those days, hence the wonky schedule. Not excited about it but hopefully I only have to do this one and then I'm all clear. I am still throwing up although not as frequently, so I'm not sure if my OB will have me do anything differently.
@kbduke I'm glad you're being seen by a cardio. Mine said 9:10 times its due to increased blood flow. I also learned yesterday that my low iron could be contributing to palpitations. Mine wasn't worried about HR, more where my beats were coming from so I had 3 tests done. Now I have peace of mind that at 34 my heart is in great shape - most 34 year olds assume, but I know.
My appointment went well. I just saw an NP who I didn't like as much, but I'll be back in 2 weeks anyways. Measured right at 27. Also got my tdap shot, they were out of flu shots so that will wait for next appointment.
Glucose test seemed okay....I liked the drink? I felt fine after, just starving from having to fast. Results should be in 1-3 days so fingers crossed..
@DiFazette just left. I got my flu shot and tdap. Got the orders for my glucose test which I'll be doing Thursday afternoon I think.
Placenta is out of the way of my cervix so my restrictions are lifted! They still are off by 5 days on my due date so brought it to their attention again. I have the early paperwork with it...they changed computer systems in may so admitted it could have been transcribed wrong.
About the weakness- he said totally completely normal and when it happens just drink some extra. If I do pass out then call but otherwise weakness is normal. even extreme weakness.
GT test went fine- the drink was not good but I should get my results in a couple days. Baby HB sounds good- measuring right at 28 weeks. Talked about anxiety meds PP and agreed I probably need to start after delivery. Then we talked about this bleeding episode I had 2 weeks ago (following DTD) and the pretty consistent spotting since then. She is worried my placenta has dropped further down or my cervix is shortening. We scheduled an ultrasound for Friday to check both issues and will discuss plan for care then. has anyone had these symptoms and it NOT be one of those two options?
@Gizmo1231 I have the short cervix, but depending on how short and how funneled - this late in pregnancy it could just be something they let go. Maybe progesterone suppositories, or maybe bed rest.
