Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Monday

Re: WTO Monday

  • @LuLiLaEv sorry to make your so hungry! I am also starving and I had breakfast. It's just one of those days.

    @antoto sorry to hear about your Christmas. I had to choose between families this year. ILs or mine. Was not fun. I have yet to tell my family I won't be around for fear of backlash.

    @adirat It will be a great dinner post boxing class =D

    @JennyV56 when in doubt, HIO!

    @mrs35 Oh man, I would've been stomping around "accidentally" making as much noise as possible. I'm so not a morning person and DH effing with my routine like that would've annoyed me to no end.

    @slavenski I've never experience an earthquake! That has to be terrifying  :o   Also, I did my first round of OPKs this cycle. They're cheapies - negative seems to be a faint line, and then they got darker as (I think) I had my surge. They never got as dark as the control line, but I've heard that this is common for cheapies. I kept testing for 5 more days to make sure that I didn't have a false surge..... although I guess I won't know for sure unless I get KU  :|

    @mamashan12  that's really tough. Sending good vibes for easy conversations with your brother and SIL.

    @LADY324 I'm failing on the caffeine cutback too. I figure I may buy 1/2 caff coffee when I'm KU because I also like to put a bit of matcha green tea in my morning smoothies for the health benefits. Or, try herbal tea instead of coffee....... but I'm pretty sure I'll be a zombie in the mornings.

    @littlebug2010 have fun at your 5k this weekend!

    @felix08 FX for this cycle's IUI!!!!

  • @eggplantface why do you recommend the regular CB and not the advanced?
    Bearing in mind that this is my experience and others love it: I've found that it's more trouble than it's worth. I'd get the flashing smiley for more than the two days they say you're supposed to, which just caused more confusion about when I'd actually O and when we should have sex. Or I wouldn't start testing early enough in my cycle so I'd go from low reading to peak without any warning, negating the entire reason for spending money on the advanced test. I also stopped trusting my own body's signs in favor of this test. And I've been TTC and charting for so long now (ugh) that I can tell when O is coming by CM so I know when to start using the cheap strips.

    For the flip side, I think @BusinessWife gets better results with them and can give you her take.

  • @mamashan12 I'm a pediatric SLP that works with birth-three. We see tons of kids with red flags for autism. Let me know if you want to chat more about specific symptoms or about anything else it can be. A tic alone wouldn't indicate autism-- even combined with a speech delay. Since he is social and interactive, it might be something else. When does the tic occur? If it is during speech, look up developmental stuttering, the description might be helpful! I'm happy to chat more if you want :)
  • @swimsister Happy belated birthday!!

    @ladystinson Congrats on doing ALL the things this cycle!  I like trying to do extra stuff like that because then you know you are doing everything in your power to get that BFP.

    @JennyV56 and @slavenski Positive OPK (test line is equal darkness to control line) means that is mostly likely the day before you ovulate.  The day before you ovulate is the most fertile day of the whole FW, closely followed by the actual day of ovulation.  So you can bang it out either one of those days or both.

    @mamashan12 So sorry to hear about your nephew! Maybe your mother can bring up the discussion with your brother instead of you.  He might take it better coming from his mother rather than his sister.  At least I know my brother would!

    @Saralee797 Sorry you're getting frustrated :(  *hug*
  • jeg07 Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I just talked to my boss who's a pedi neurologist and described some of the behavior I noticed - he's got a tic with his hands, as well as one with his eyes that is combined with some shaking (kind of hard to describe this without showing it to someone). My MIL thinks he has a bit of a speech delay and I mentioned to my boss that I didn't notice that and that he'd been repeating my words all day. He asked me a few more questions and said that it sounded like echolalia and he'd want to have him evaluated for that. He's also in a bilingual home most of the time and we're wondering if that is causing further confusion. There are a couple of behavioral issues as well, a lack of reaction to things as well as refusing to eat.

    I was hoping he'd tell me not to worry about it and he'd most likely grow out of it, but he agreed that I should bring the concerns up to his parents to at least have him evaluated. I'm just really concerned that they won't follow up or even take him to the pedi. Is there anything I could be doing with him that might help, in your opinion?
  • @manillabar Yeah I think that's the plan... but it just wont be the same :(

    As for your chart i think even with those factors it doesn't look like you have ovulated yet. You got a positive OPK yesterday which means you are most likely ovulating TODAY so go home and hump it out!
  • @mamashan12 That's great that he is social--maybe the tics are just a sensory processing issue? Hopefully your brother/SIL are receptive to your input!
    @swimsister Happy belated birthday! Glad you had a fun weekend.
    @jeg07 Yes, temping or an U/S are the only ways to confirm ovulation.

  • **TW**

    @maebee87 - seconding what @eggplantface said - no such thing as a "faint positive" on an OPK.  The test line has to be as dark or darker than the control.

    @mamashan12 - I'm a resigned sped teacher and I worked primarily in evaluations and eligibilities -- since my degree is in Human Development and ECE -- more so there than actual teaching some years.  I had some parents that would push back and deny deny deny and some we could never "get to."  In the long run, its their child...nothing you can really do if they don't accept it.  Most though we could get through to by keeping up with evidence and really showing them peer comparisons.  It might be really hard for family to be telling your brother... maybe asking how your nephew's pedi appts are going and such would be a good start.  "What milestones is "nephew" supposed to be reaching now?" , "Did they give you that form that talks about eye contact and other behaviors?" etc etc.  FWIW - DS1 had a minor speech delay too and was in EI for a year.  If they were to get him evaluated through EI, the county usually pays for the evaluation and services are either free or discounted.  That is, if they go for it.  GL

    @tentoeturbo - Its just what I am "set for," ya know?  ***startTW***I've had a LPD since my D&E.***endTW*** So my hopes aren't totally high that I won't start spotting by thursday and flood gates open on Saturday. its possible my body is fixing itself.  "You're normal until you're not."  I know.  I honestly think I only O'ed (will confirm with temps) because I just stopped vitex and my body will continue to follow its normal "screw you, you're getting a short LP this cycle again!" cycle but FX I'm wrong ;)

  • @LuND Woohoo! Hope TWW is followed by a BFP!

    @BoshnJonnie Haha, thanks! I agree, but maybe I'll jinx myself in the best way like @LuND said.

    @manillabar So frustrating about having a bad temping ordeal the day you want to confirm o! I have been there. FX tomorrow is a good clear shift for you. I agree with what @antoto said that today could also be O.

  • @manillabar Im glad to know there is someone else out there who likes to listen to christmas music all year round.  Im listening to some right now!

  • @linzrunz Glad your appts are going well! I also hate getting blood drawn. I get myself soo worked up beforehand but it is a weight off when it is all over! Hope you have a fun rest of the day!!
  • @maebee87 I am a clock checker too! I think I look at the clock every 5 minutes at during my 1 hour class. I should stop it probably makes it feel longer.
  • @maebee87 Yes, only using that many during FW! Sorry I didn't clarify. I use BBT and CM to narrow it down. For example, once I see ewcm, I might start with twice, once in afternoon and once in evening. When I start to see it darkening, I will add in a 3rd test to make sure I catch it. I never did it that much before but one time I got what I thought was probably positive, so I checked again a few hours later and it was already back to negative.  So it literally came and went within a few hour window which I could have easily missed.  But yes, only during the FW in general!

  • Echoing @alysapuggles I only get a "true" positive within a short window, but I get a gradual darkening over a couple of days which is good enough for me to HIO before my temp spike. Others get a definitive positive testing once per day. This seems to vary widely from woman to woman. I usually do one per day at first then two per day. I also start OPKs only when I start getting watery CM or EWCM, which is usually 4-5 days before I O. (My CM alone isn't a good signal of O because it's very hydration dependent -- if I go hiking, for instance, my CM disappears until I'm thoroughly hydrated again.)

  • @mamashan12 sorry to hear about the situation with your nephew. That's hard. Hopefully your brother and SIL realize you're bringing it up because you love your nephew and they will be receptive to hearing your concerns out.

    @felix08 I am an early(ish) O-er. Nothing crazy but definitely before CD14. Between CD 11-13 typically. I have been having watery/EWCM the past two days so I am wondering if I will O sooner rather than later. That's my only concern about not getting my temp yesterday morning. I know its not the end of the world, but still.

    @swimsister happy birthday girl!

  • @bornmommy thank you so much for the info. My MIL sent me some EI resources as well, and I'm hoping he just needs a year or two of EI. I'm hoping offering to pay for the evaluation might be helpful for my brother and SIL as well.
  • And thank you everyone for the advice, I really appreciate it. I really hope I'm totally wrong, but id rather piss off my brother than do a disservice to my nephew.

  • @linzrunz I love getting new glasses! I also got poked with a needle this morning. And, ugh, I was actually thinking how awful it would be to have an aversion to needles/blood and go through infertility testing. Hopefully it will all be worth it, right? ;-)
    @shstephenson Oh, yeah, if you might ovulate on CD11, then that temp is much more important. Either way, I'm guessing you'll still see a shift, so don't sweat it!
