The little girl I baby sit lost her first tooth yesterday. We had our final slumber party last night and her mom gave me $5 in gold coins to give her from the tooth fairy. It was all fun until she woke me up st 6:30 by jumping on me excited that the tooth fairy came!
I went to the farmers market and the craft store first thing this morning. We just pulled down all the painters tape in the nursery and DH is changing all the outlets and light switches now. I'm working on some greenery arrangements (to be put out of his reach) and canvases with quotes. Later we're going to finish our registries and go out to dinner. I want everything done today so tomorrow I can throw my dip in the oven and soup in the crockpot (it's going to be 70 here finally). Then time to kick back and watch football!
I'm at my in laws house. They just moved. DH is helping unpack. I'm being a shitty mom and put on the tv for my toddler and I'm talking to you- it's my weekend too, right? Plus, I have wicked Braxton hicks every time I sit and stand again.
@ThePax89 yep! I totally had a coughing fit before we walked into our movie last night and definitely peed my pants! I think it's time for some bladder leak liners! Hahaha!
I fractured my ankle last night so I'll be spending the next few weeks in a big ass walking boot with a bad attitude. I told the doctor im 22 weeks pregnant and he looked up and said "You look 2 weeks pregnant." Then I peed a little when he was feeling my ankle because I tensed up and I thought everyone knew because I'm paranoid. Hope everyone else is having a better weekend than me!
Filled out an immunization form for ds 1 when i registered him for pre k. Just opened the folder to make sure I had the right supplies for him Monday. There is a separate medical form and a note that reads your child cannot start school without this form. I panicked and called the drs office. They let me bring it in and filled it out ten min before they closed!!!! Mommy fail....Mommy win?
DH started working a new job 2 months ago that requires him to work weekends. I still haven't figured out what to do with myself so I'm lounging on the sofa watching Hook. I fall in love with this movie every time I watch it.

I'm at a beach resort this weekend that is about an hour away from our house. H's brother is coming tomorrow for a conference, so we thought we would meet up with them this weekend/Monday. We came to this resort for our Anniversary a few years ago and it is just as wonderful as I remember. Every room has a BeacH view and my favorite part is waking up and watching the sunrise.
I haven't snissed, etc during pregnancy before (post partum is another story) and I really hope that type of thing doesn't start any time soon... Blah.
DH is gone for NG drill for the weekend so I dragged the kids to a HUGE annual community yard sale that is ridiculously popular (food trucks come, people sell hotdogs and soda off their front lawns--it's gigantic). We got some good deals (a big frame for DD1s wall that we will spray paint) and a night stand I can refinish for DD2--$5 each. I was hoping to find a dresser for this baby but no luck... anyway, the kids did a surpringly low amount of whining given the fact that we were there for about 3 hours. We were all exhausted when we got home so I GPSed our waking route--we went THREE MILES. We are all dead tired now. And I'm sure that the next time I pitch a community yard sale as SOOOOO much fun they will see right thru that BS
DD1 (2008) DD2 (2010), #3 (DH's first bio kid) on the way in January 2017! Almost always mobile bumping--forgive my typos.
I hung out with my grandma today and it was really nice, I love that lady soooo much. After lunch we went to this ice cream shop (she's been living in the same little beach town forever) and I found my picture on the wall from back when I was like 6 years old. The lady behind the counter recognized me & it was just so weird to see my pic on the wall and now I am grown & pregnant. Time flies. Also, one of my really good friends is officially 3cm dilated so I am going to see her tomorrow! She loves Harry Potter so I am currently cutting out some iron on vinyl to make her LO some HP onesies. SNUGGLE THIS MUGGLE!

We finally had our gender reveal party on Saturday! My mom went crazy when she found out. It was so much fun, but I'm glad it's over now. No more planning parties for me for a while!
My mother. Ugh. She is driving me bonkers! She doesn't understand boundaries AT ALL. We were supposed to stay with them last night, and DD refused to lay down and go to sleep. She just kept screaming (she was super tired, which is lethal for her).
I had it handled, and knew she'd calm down once I could get her to lay down. All of the sudden my mom is at the door saying, "Here, let me do it!" So I said, "Please go, you aren't helping right now," and instead of listening, she barges in and basically hip checks me out of the way.
She took DD out and told me she was going to rock her to sleep, which we never do unless she's sick. I said, "No, we don't do that," and she just ignored me and kept on. So I told H that we were going home, and we all left.
We have never been close, and since DDs been born, it's been like this: refusal to allow me to parent if we're all together, telling me how I should be doing it, reminding me how great she is at this, etc. After the 3744764th time of being told, "Oh she never acts like that with me!" I just can't deal.
When DDs in her care, I don't care what my mother does as long as it's safe. But when both of her parents are there, let us parent! I'd talk to her about it, but she'll just turn it into me being mean and not wanting her to see DD, which is not the case.
Guys I really want to go to the book store to get a baby name book (even though we are pretty set on the name already). But I also don't want to leave the house. I know if I go out I'll be out forever.

@emy730 Ah that sounds awful!! I am glad you have the guts to just leave - that was the right thing to do. I feel like she would just get worse and worse if you let her do it her way!

Just get the Kindle digital version of a baby name book online and then you don't have to go out
Is anyone else taken to sitting on birthing or stability balls yet? Our doula recommended it at our last meeting and so I bought one on Amazon. It feels really good but I haven't tried it for prolonged periods of time yet so I'm kind of wondering if my back is going to get really tired supporting itself (I'm a serial couch sloucher and my posture is terrrrrrible)
@emy730 I'm so sorry she's like that! It's so frustrating when your parent refuses to see that it's your turn to be the parent and that they just need to step aside and let you handle your own child. You're awesome for just leaving!
Get back from a long weekend at a wedding, DS was with my parents and I open his preschool bag. His teacher actually gave homework to be completed by Monday! I was in shock! As a teacher myself, I don't give my students homework on the weekends! To add insult, he is doing a character traits curriculum right now where perseverance is one of the traits...explaining this trait to a middle school student is hard enough let alone to a 3.5 year old?!? Last year, he was sooo excited to tell us what he was doing in school and was always singing songs he learned at school and talking about what he did. This year he cries each night that he doesn't want to go to school and when asked what fun he had at school he replies with, "it wasn't fun I don't want to talk about it!" This is a different teacher than last year and I already had to contact her because he was coming home with half empty juice box containers soaking through his snack bag and into his book bag. I don't want to be "that parent" but I bet I'll be labeled as such! Blah!

Yesterday DD1 had a friend party at our house for her 9th bday. Today I'm so tired all I want to do is sit on the couch. I hate that doing things takes so much out of me.
Well my sister's surprise party was a hit yesterday! My cake that I posted about last week went over well and everyone had a great time. She was very surprised. I knew it was time to go, though, when she was drunk and was constantly rubbing and squishing my belly and talking to it and kissing my cheek. I was like K IM TIRED TIME TO TAKE MY CANKLES HOME NOW. Parties are just not the same when you are the only one sober.
I'm working 7 days a week right now. I woke up before my alarm went off and really thought it was a regular weekend morning for a minute. Then reality hit. At least today should be a short day and I'm wearing leggings so I'm comfy. All I want to do is go home, watch football and make soup with DS (he's my little kitchen helper these days).
I feel like I've been MIA this past week. I had mentioned earlier that my work layed off a bunch of people including my entire department and my boss so now I'm doing the work of a lot of people. I've been insanely busy.
But.. Today is Sunday. Football is on. AND... My DD went poop in the potty for this first time ever and all on her own!! I seriously almost cried I was so excited!!!

I used one in the third trimester with DD and they're awesome! Mine was honestly the only thing that would give my back any semblance of relief during the last few weeks.
@canavara I sit on one instead of trying to sit in a toddler chair at my daughters play table with her. I bounce on it in the evenings too. I love it. It's much more comfortable than any chair.

Um, not at all developmentally appropriate. Is this a school curriculum? If not, are there other classes for his age that you might be able to get him transferred into?
Children this age should be learning and exploring through play. There should be free-choice centers, sensory activities and art projects that build motor skills.
If moving him out of the class or even school isn't an option, I would just tell the teacher that you don't agree with homework or the type of assignments being given for this age group, and you'll be opting out of them or will be doing an alternative, developmentally appropriate, fun activity in it's place. You could even video what you do and turn it in as his "alternative homework assignment."
It it sounds to me like she is not a trained early childhood educator. If she was, she wouldn't be expecting this of a child that age. This sounds like something I might do with 3rd grade and above maybe. Not 3 year olds.
I'm the marketing director for an independent retailer and we opened five new businesses yesterday (4 stores and a restaurant in one killer space). It went very well. (Yay!) In the evening, H and I went to a wedding in Seattle. I don't know if I'm just full-on exhausted or in the clumsy stage of pregnancy (or a combination of the two) but I have tripped and lost my balance all over Seattle today -- killing time waiting for a train. All in all, a wonderful, successful, really fun weekend. But... I'm not looking forward to Monday morning at all. That, and now I have to be away from my husband for 12 days (I usually telecommute but am working on-site for the opening).
But, I have a super happy, very active baby who appears to enjoy strong cheeses as much as I do. Life is good.
