@Kaytee1087 and @CopperBoom86 I definitely agree! Places should at least have some designated parking spots. I'm usually all for the walking and getting my steps in but lately it just hurts to move, plus it's 1000 degrees which makes it all worse.
I was always completely terrified to hold babies. It definitely changes when it's your own. You quickly learn they're not as fragile as you think! Or, maybe it's more like, "I guess if I hurt this newborn...at least it's mine?"
Part of me wishes I could have handicap parking right now and the other part feels super selfish because I'm lucky to not actually need handicap parking. It would be pretty damn awesome but I'm just huge and tired and I feel like I can drag my pregnant booty a few extra feet. But seriously, I've been using the shit out of expectant mother parking when I see it!

I want to hold all the babies. My neighbors just had their baby and I ran into them as they were coming home from the hospital. O. M. G. So incredibly cute and TINY! I think because DD is in 99th percentile for height and 96th for weight, I forget how teeny they are at first. I can't wait to hold my little man.
My my mom took DD for the weekend to watch her while I work. I'm taking advantage of the time to myself by getting a pedicure. But now that I'm here I want to get the works. Hair done, waxing, massage, everything! But...no money. Oh well, getting a pedicure is awesome.
I really don't want to offend anyone by saying this but I have never understood the desire to hold a stranger's baby even if you are at the same function. My mil and SIL both do it. Like if there is a baby in any proximity to them, they feel the need to swoop in and be all over the baby. I always get asked if I want to hold them and I always say no. It's a baby. A baby I don't know with parents I also don't know. What on earth would drive me to hold that baby? Because I'm a woman? Nah. If my mil/SIL want to do that and the parents are cool with it then go for it but leave me out of it!
And I agree with whoever said it- babies are boring. Haha. There is really nothing you can do but look/hold a newborn. I love my dd but yeah I couldn't just sit there looking at her... I always say they don't get easier but they get more fun (re: growing up)
@ibabyloveb87 I dare someone to look at your belly and say something if you park in those spots lol.
@MRSCORKER You do have a point, we are lucky mamas that we don't actually need them right now. But it would be nice a perk to look forward to as we get super uncomfortable! But I'm one of those mamas who takes full advantage of being pregnant. Offer me the last donut? I'll take it! You'd like me to go ahead of you in line because I have a giant belly? Yes please. These kinds of offers don't last forever so I have been shameless about them lol.
Also mark me down for holding all the babies! I will offer to hold in a "If she starts to get heavy, I'll happily take her!" kind of way, so that the mama doesn't feel like she has to give it up if she doesn't want to, but that I'm all about holding your baby if you're ok with it.
Countdown to Baby H! Mommy to Elizabeth (6/18/09), preemie at 34 weeks
I like to hold all the babies, brand new or older. I love that new baby smell and I cannot wait to smell my baby! That sounds so funny, but it's the truth! I'll be smelling this baby's head alllll the time.
Also, TGIF ladies! This weekend is one of the two weekends in September where we don't have anything planned and I'm so excited to do nothing but nest nest nest.
@annabenanna It's like half of my friends and DH have birthdays within a week of each other so we have a birthday dinner tonight and tomorrow.
And some of my family is coming to town for my last baby shower which is Sunday so I'll probably spend most of tomorrow afternoon with them! Plus my football game on Saturday night.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this weekend!!

@ibabyloveb87, i'm getting winded just reading your post! You have so many plans! They all sound super fun though, especially the last baby shower. I've had zero energy lately. I went out to dinner with two girlfriends last night and felt pretty proud of myself! lol.
Okay, so, I've always been on team "you're an idiot for freaking out about Zika," but I have to admit, I'm kind of freaking out just a tiny bit now and if I were earlier on in my pregnancy, I'd probably be freaking out even more.
Eighty-four pregnant women in Florida have now tested positive for Zika. I'm sorry, but that's scary. I'm super glad that a) we're almost to the finish line and b) summer is coming to an end (or is supposed to be- it's currently 90 degrees outside!).
ETA: Also, remember that I do live in lower Alabama, so I feel like my fears are somewhat justified due to proximity.
Where are all these people that are offering to let you guys hold their babies?! I need them to come over here please. I will happily hold all the babies until mine comes. Lol
I have another random. I think all pregnant mamas, 36 weeks or more, should get complimentary handicapped stickers for the final few weeks. I just went to the grocery store and was so disappointed they didn't have expectant mother parking (though not surprised they didn't; I get spoiled because BRU does and so does our mall, and doc's offices).
Yes! Our grocery store has Mother with Children parking. I mean technically I have my child with me....does that count??
Prob talking about the same grocery chain since we're in the same state... I def use that parking space when it's free. No shame.
@annabenanna Normally I would feel the same way but I've had a couple of lazy weekends in a row so I'm ready for something to do besides stressing out about the nursery.
@CopperBoom86 I'm with you. I'm not freaking out, but at the same time I'm glad we're almost done. I have a couple of bites on my leg that I may kind of worry about buttttt I think those are actually from the biting flies on the beach the other day.

One of my favorite parts of going to work is all the delicious newborn snuggles I get to have. Also, these Braxton hicks have been a really bitch the last couple days. Last, this is my fourth baby, and I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. I don't remember when to start getting the swing/rnp/pnp/ etc out and washed. I don't remember when to pack my bag or install the car seat. I've lost it. I was talking to my bff who is due 4 weeks after me and shes like don't ask me, this is only my second- this is your fourth- you're scaring me! Hahah.
@CopperBoom86, I was just discussing this with my girlfriends yday... how i'm so glad i'm almost at the finish line. Two neighborhoods in my vicinity (one is super close, like less than a mile away) have been sprayed for Zika mosquitos, because they found larvae of the kind of mosquito that carries it, and because someone in that vicinity tested positive for zika (travel related).
Really random here... But we're supposed to go over to our friends' house to play euchre tonight and I really want to see our friends/hang out (esp since she's about to have a baby any day now so we won't be together as much)... But I also really want to nap. The struggle is real.
@copperboom86 I think your concern is warranted. When I saw that on Today Show this morning I couldn't believe it. My sister is pregnant (due in Feb) and I had been encouraging her to still go on a planned trip to Destin in October, and just to be careful. But, I texted her this morning what I'd seen on the news.
@ibabyloveb87 I use the "women with children" or whatever the sign says and my DH says it's not meant for me because the picture is of a stroller and I'm not using one yet. I tell him if anyone wants to challenge me as if I'm "with child" they can bring it on.
@bnsmith85 That is me every time we make plans. I really want to get in some quality time with friends before this baby gets here...but rarely does anything sound more appealing than a nap.
The spraying-for-zika thing makes me stabby...particularly in places where there's been no cases of local transmission. As if we don't have enough of a honey bee problem already
H likes to hold babies. I could not care less about holding other people's babies. Babies are not my fav stage...in fact I wouldn't be surprised if 20 years from now I look back and it's my least favorite. They're SO CUTE and I feel super fortunate to be able to be around to soak up the good parts of this stage but....DS is more fun everyday & it's way more fun to see them become a person. Of course, I'm a weirdo and actually look forward to teenagers.
Yes!! I actually went into the nursery last night and sat in my glider and read some of my book @ibabyloveb87. It's so quiet in there and smells so much like baby!!
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
Yes @ibabyloveb87! I also take a new pic pretty much every time I make any minor change bc I love looking at the picture randomly too. I'm obsessed lol
Wishing you lots of nesting joy, @annabenanna. I think my nesting helped my LO decide to flip! Tomorrow I am building the pack and play, stoller, and other things we have gotten that need to be built or put together. Sunday marks 37 weeks and our baby shower/fiesta. Enjoy your free time off this weekend and enjoy doing only what you two want to together!
I'm also +1ing the not having a desire to hold babies. Babies have always liked me, but I just felt too awkward with them. Hopefully it will be much different with my own.
I have 100% been parking in the "customer with child" parking because I am *WITH CHILD*. Today my mother was driving and we stopped there and she wouldn't park in those spots! I was like... ummm... totally counts. Seriously.
Also my work was kind enough to reserve a parking space for me. Only it's right by the building where most of the English classes and offices are... NOT by the building where *my* office is. (And even though I teach in the building it's closest to, I always am in my office before and after teaching, so it doesn't matter.) I feel really bad that they're like "we have a special parking place for you" and I'm not using it... but really, I'm not going to walk *further* just to park in the same exact place each day.
I so desperately want to ride in the HOV lanes in Houston. In those lanes you have to have 2 or more people in the car. Once you have your baby, you count as 2 people. I legit asked on FB if I could ride in the HOV Lane because hello, I'm pregnant and there are two people. A few of my friends said they did it and got pulled over. Never got a ticket but just a warning from the cop. I'm still tempted to try it sometimes when traffic is bad. I'll pull the "what you're not pro life" card if a cop pulls me over. Haha
@ibabyloveb87 I sit in the nursery almost every night. I can't walk by without going in there. I take clothes out and refold them or go through the diaper bag. I can't help it.
I am in a state of constant struggle this week. I want to work out. I really do. But, once I get DS to bed, I just need to be horizontal. I haven't done one workout this week, and sadly I feel all the guilt about it. I want to just cut myself some slack at 33 weeks, but I'm struggling. If I work out, I feel horrible (because I'm too tired). If I don't work out, I feel horrible that I didn't.
Someone tell me to just chill out and eat all the things already.
Good choice @F47. I actually think that lately just being pregnant is a huge workout. Lugging around all these extra pounds PLUS reduced lung capacity. It's like walking around at high altitude with a couple dumbbells imo.
@jennielu, I'm going to remember your wise words..... That being this pregnant is like walking around with dumbbells in high altitude.
@f47, I hear you. I can only manage 1 workout a week and walking 20 mins a day. Part of me is like "I need to do push ups, my arms are losing tone".....but at this point, I'm just so tired!
Dude, walking up 3 flights of stairs to our condo is my workout these days. I'm seriously panting by the time I get in the front door. Also, H brought home a delicious looking muffin "for tomorrow's breakfast"... Yeah, it's already gone.
