Yes! This is my first baby, by all means, please share all the info with me!
I've thought about taking it out, I've had it for about six years and there's a little bit of scar tissue from a small infection when it was healing after I first got it. I don't know if that'll make a difference or cause my belly button to look mutilated by the end of this pregnancy. Lol

@PerraSucia LOL inspired by Pinterest and this way I don't have to worry about face, makeup or cleaning up there background. Silhouette = easy. Gonna try to document the rest of the weeks this way.
Actually I would like to request a picture in a different area of your home every week.

    @LivingLaVidaGinger @AfKash
First I got my belly ring when I was 17, paid for it myself, it hurt really bad, and I had to beg my dad soooo that's why I still have it and will probably keep it forever lol

I managed to stay pretty small with my first pregnancy and kept my belly ring in the entire time. It DID tear. Now that I'm older I know I should have just taken it out but I was stubborn, so I used medical tape and taped the top ball down to lay on my stomach. I kept taping it the whole time and it got me through but the hole tore and now the standard size bars are too long.

My second pregnancy I heard about special barbars you can buy just for pregnancy, so I went on a mission. The place I got it done didn't have any in stock, and everywhere else never even heard of it and told me it was "impossible". I waited it out until the place I got it done at had them in stock. I googled bioflex belly ring now and they instantly pop up these days lol. It's flexible material that will bend with your growing belly and I didn't tear at all, and had left it in until my belly shrunk back down after delivery. I kept it in, in the hospital too, they didn't make me remove it. BUT!! when you go in for delivery they put monitors on your stomach for contractions, and the baby, (those are uncomfortable on anyone) since they aren't used to watching for a belly ring you will have to remind them several times you have one on so they don't accidently rip it out while moving the monitors into position. Maybe you will take yours out for delivery I don't know, this is just my experience.

The important info to know is a regular belly ring will very likely tear, the bioflex are super comfortable and amazing.... I have a family issue right now I'll update this with more info and with a picture of what it should look like later.

  • @kswiger06 interesting info, but I have a serious question: why can't you just take your belly ring out while you're pregnant and then put it back in later?  I got mine when I was 17, had a ton of problems with it for 5 or 6 years, and took it out for good when I was 27 or so.  I'm 33 now, but I can still slide a bar through it if I feel like it.  That hole has been through hell and back, but it's not going anywhere.  Am I just some freak of nature whose piercings don't close up?  I also have 6 ear piercings (2 cartilage, 4 lobes) that I never use, but they stay open all the time, too...

I took my belly ring out a solid 10 years ago and got a regular earring through it this spring out of curiosity. It only hurt a little  :D

@NiceyMeany I'm never sure how to count my piercings - does 4 lobes mean 4 on each side for a total of 8 holes, or 2 in each lobe?
  • haha @MommaBean I was counting 2 in each lobe.  Plus I have 2 in the cartilage of my left ear.  So 4 on one side, 2 on the other.
  • @NiceyMeany That makes 9 for me!  :o Maybe 10 - I know one of my cartilages closed but I think one may still be open...

I've derailed us from HDBD to an obscure GTKY. Sorry, folks; I promise to just share my belly next week. ;)
  • @NiceyMeany I got my belly button pierced when I was 18 and I haven't had anything in for several years but the hole is still open! I think it depends on the body
  • Still on the belly button piercing topic, I got mine when I was 18 and had to take it out when I was pregnant. I thought I'd be able to just pop it back in (it was only out the last 3 months MAYBE 4) but nope. It closed up. Not sure if the stretching forces the hole shut? But the only stretch mark I got until the last week of pregnancy was from that piercing. I also got an umbilical hernia during that pregnancy so my belly button pops out and is just weird looking now.
  • I had both nipples pierced when I was 18 (only for a few months) and I hope it doesn't mess with breastfeeding!  Oh the 90s...

I had one of my nipples pierced and I kept the piercing in right up until my c section. It didn't affect me breastfeeding my kid for the past year and half :)
  • I was also particularly cool in the late 90s early 00s and my belly button definitely closed but my tongue holes never did. I had multiples in my nipples at larger gauges and fed my kid for 18 months from my boobs.
  • @PerraSucia my tongue closed so fast! I'm surprised to hear that because I thought that was the big exception to holes staying open. That must be so weird lol.

i got my nose pierced a few years ago and I think I'm gonna have to have it forever bc I don't want a visible hole in my face left behind  :|
