Trying to Get Pregnant

should I take a test?

I just got married 6/1/13 I have been on bc since I was 18 and still am now at 23. Before my wedding I skiped my sugar pills and started a new pack... I still ended up having my period anyways and bled for a week and a half (sorry if too much  info). Then at the end of June I was supposed to start my period I did but only bled for 1 day very different then my normal period which is usually 4-5 days. Im not sure if I could be pregnant or not as the only other symptoms I am having are tiredness and sometimes stomach cramping. Should I take a test or wait until my next period? While on the pill I did have miscarriage before without knowing I was pregnant until it was too late so now I dont know if I am just over thinking it.

Re: should I take a test?

  • Go to the dollar store, buy a test, and take it. No one here will be able to tell you if you are pregnant or not and I'm sure you won't be at peace until you know. Pregnancy symptoms are also symptoms that you get from ovulating and your period so those are not good indicators of pregnancy.

You could take a test if you want, it's the only way to know if you're pregnant.  But FWIW, I did the same thing with my BCP around my wedding early last August, I was due to take the week off and get my period right over my wedding weekend so I just took two packs of pills back to back instead with the last pill being mid-August.  I didn't get my period for a whole month after that last pill and it was a weird one for me, much shorter and lighter.  Taking two packs back to back can definitely mess with your cycles, I'm sure that's what you're experiencing.

  • I am sorry for your loss.

If you are curious about being pregnant, take a test.  A pink dye one.  They are $1 at the dollar store.

  • My guess is you are just having an off cycle, especially since you changed your BC schedule. But if you really want to know for sure just take a test!

This. I skipped my sugar pills the month of our wedding as well. I had break-through bleeding that month, and the almost no period when it was supposed to come. But if you're concerned, test it out with a pink dye test and first morning urine.

  • If you're not sure, you should test.  It won't hurt anything.  Just the cost of the test.
