Re: Weekly Randoms 09.05.16

  • DH's company Christmas party is December 17th and I'm on the fence about going because it is definitely "no kids". It would only be a few hours, but it'll depend on how old lo is and whether I want to drag a pump with me to the party. Otherwise, I'm not planning to be separated much aside from work on weekends. I'm still trying to convince DH to bring lo to me at work half way through my shift to nurse so I don't have to pump as much, lol.

Anyone else finding it really difficult to wipe? I can't seem to reach far enough from the front or
back anymore. It's getting super awkward  :|
Yes :( I whine to myself about this at least once a day.
  • I'm playing in a musical the first week of November if all goes well, so O will be staying with my mom or sister. I realized that's the week MIL will be here and I might have to give her one day. Not thrilled, but of course I can't say anything to H. Im annoyed with my other in laws who keep telling us we will have to bring him 3 hours to Baltimore to stay with them for the weekend. No, I don't think I have to do that!
  • @LGW2015 yess! the last week I've been having the same problem!

I made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies last night. I ate 4....no shame! I had to taste each batch fresh out of the oven!
  • I had a bad dream about Baby last night and woke up almost-crying. Not going to re-hash it here for you ladies, because it was definitely bad, but suffice it to say I'm not happy with these pregnancy dreams lately...

  • @bamacoop, i'm sorry you had a bad dream. :(  I've been having nervous thoughts lately too.  I think because we are so close to the end, the first tri jitters are coming back too.  Something like, we made it this far, I can't screw up the last 4-5 weeks!  And it makes me so anxious.
  • @bamacoop - My pregnancy dreams have turned vicious over the past couple weeks, too. Last night's was on the more unrealistic end. I was being chased to two vampires and they cornered me in an area that I would regularly be able to squeeze through, but I couldn't because of my baby bump.

As scared as I was when I woke up (my heart was racing!), I'll take ones like that over the more realistic ones any day! So sorry you had a bad one last night! :(

  • Ugh. I'm in the OB waiting room and there was a dear woman in here with her TINY twins. Not even sure it could be her 6 week follow-up. Well, a little boy came over to see the babies and kept touching them! His mom didn't stop him, she thought it was cute. And, the mom of the twins looked so uncomfortable. I just wanted her to speak up! Luckily, she was called back after a minute or so.

  • Does anyone watch Narcos here?  Can we talk about Season 2 and Pablo Escobar's ugly ass sweaters?
  • @annabenanna I still need to finish season 1, but I love that show!

Work has been stupid crazy busy and I had a little bit of a breakdown yesterday because there are 3 girls out and they just keep piling the work on. And now I have ZERO time to catch up and keep up on here. I'm missing everything!

  • @julia70286 I can relate on the work front. We don't have anyone out, but we're just generally understaffed and even if I had a full, uninterrupted week with no meetings, I couldn't get everything done. But, the fact that my days are literally taken up with client meeting after client meeting, I have on average about two hours to get actual work done.

Add to to that the fact that it's getting harder and harder to concentrate on work and not totally check out, I'm feeling so frazzled.

Many coworkers try and catch up at home, but I'm less willing to do that because I have a toddler who needs my attention (and, ya know, who I actually want to spend time with in the evenings).

  • @Julia70286, it gets so good in the 2nd season.

@F47  and Julia20786, I can relate to work stuff as well.  2 weeks ago, I sat down with my boss and basically recapped the convo I had with him 2 months ago (when my last day woudl be, how long i'd be gone).  2 months ago, he told me we didn't need to do anything special since I'd be gone during the slow period (the holidays).  But 2 weeks ago, that tune changed.  Suddenly I have all these projects I need to do before I leave.  Like wtf?  Why are you just telling me this now?

And yes, amen to not being able to concentrate at work.  I"m having a hard time as well. :(  I feel like I can only do 1 task a day.
  • I am failing at work too. My job requires being out in the heat and I just can't right now.
  • @annabenanna and @f47Seriously WTF to not being able to concentrate. I used to take adderall for my ADD, and obviously haven't this whole pregnancy, and have been alright, but now... It's nearly impossible. It's making me feel so incompetent and that is beyond frustrating.

I work from home, so I figured why NOT just work until I give birth because it's not like I have to commute or that there's a physical strain. Now I'm seeing it's not the physical, it's the mental strain. UGH! Next time I'm budgeting to take at least the last few weeks off.

  • I don't like concentrating at work but I guess I'm doing too good a job of it. I have tons of stuff that needs to be done at my house to prepare for baby that's not getting done because I'm either working on my work stuff or too tired from working on my work stuff to do home stuff! (Then my mom comes over to help and raises panic about everything left to do... but she's not super effective without really super clear instructions. I'm still mad at her about last Friday and hoping this Friday is better.)

  • @F47 - ugh, I don't think I could even handle watching that scene! I would probably end up being the unwelcome outsider and telling the 3 y/o (who I don't know) that it's ok to look but not touch the new babies (who I don't know) and everyone would just think I was a ginormous weirdo.

  • @CopperBoom86 another win for strangers and their opinions on pregnancy.

  • @copperboom86 What a weirdo.  He thinks your due date is two months off?  I guess the thing on the first ultrasound was just an undigested gummy bear that somehow made it into your uterus.

  • @CopperBoom86, hahahahahahahahaha, he sounds like an expert because he's obviously done this before, duh!
  • I just sneezed and felt like I was going to have a baby in my office chair.

And a conversation I had with the receptionist at the doctor with my step son in tow:
her: oh you're due like any day now huh?
me: nope I have just under 4 weeks left!
her: ::looking at my SS:: oh well it looks like you make big babies then!
me: nope, he's my step son...maybe it's his father that makes big babies?
her: well looks like the one in your belly is bigger than him so ya'll combined makes huge babies!!!!

    I just dont get it...like...what?!
  • @CopperBoom86 that is so weird! It's one thing when people say it as a way of saying 'you look good' (although still annoying and I know for you was just as offensive) but to flat out say that you'll have the baby in a completely different month? Haha crazy!

I didn't know where else to put this because it's not an UO or a FCCC but I wanted to say how much I HATE when women hold babies (especially the older generation I've found) and then have to make a comment about the rooting!!! 1. He/she is a newborn/baby, they basically know nothing else in life and 2. It is really easy to just not hold the baby that close to your boob that they start to root!

I know it's awkward for the other person sometimes but the easiest way is to just ignore it. Making creepy comments like 'those don't have milk anymore' or 'there's nothing there for you' don't help. It just makes it worse.

Someone made a comment on Facebook today about a baby rooting (baby wasn't theirs) and it made me remember how much I hated it. Our pastor even made a comment at our dd's baptism. Grrr!
  • Strangers are so weird. I had the clerk at the grocery store tell me there was no way I would make it 6 more weeks cause I'm too big and too low?!?! I'm standing there thinking I wonder what makes you an expert?! I should've asked her if she wanted to check my cervix.
I want to ask my coworker this every time she tells me how it is. Like, ok you've had 3 kids. Cool. Are you a medical professional? No, you're a nail tech like me. So maybe I'll trust my doctor before you.

Sometimes she's just flat out rude. Like I'll tel her I just got out L&D again and she'll be like "Dude, do NOT have any more kids." Gee thanks. I actually wasn't planning to, but that's none of your business.

  • Attorney at court this morning: We have to reset this hearing for the 29th. Don't have that baby before then.

    Me:
No problem.  Just hold it in.  How hard can that be?
  • You guys make me so glad I apparently have one of those faces that says "don't you say a word to me ever" to strangers.

  • @lmnobaby i really struggled when I went back to work and watched DS relationship with his daycare provider. We are close friends now, and I remember being very jealous on his second Halloween because she was with us and he wanted her not me. The feelings will eventually pass but make sure you deal with them and don't take them out on your mom! Although the one plus with having your mom is that you can be totally honest and not feel bad.
  • @ignoscemihi Right? Once it's safe to deliver There are only two things I would try and hold this baby in for. My fiancé and my midwife.
