Re: Ask a STM+ Week of 8/29

  • @ladysaceb currently we have staggered bed times. 2yr old goes down first then the 4yr old then the 7 and 10yr old at the same time. Some nights go better than others, a few times I've had to put the 4yr old to bed first because he was in a bad mood and screaming and would have just woke up the 2yr old lol

My 10yr old is a super heavy sleeper, which is why we're putting the baby and him in the 2nd bedroom (once our basement is finished) but he sometimes struggles to fall asleep, so I'm wondering if the white noise will make that worse or maybe help.

  • @LastMango I'm glad you're in the club also. It's so weird considering I usually love them all! Guess I need to have DH start hiding veggies in my food like a toddler!

  • @BriannaE129129 I also have no interest in cooked vegetables, though right now I'm actually happy to eat any and all raw vegetables. It's funny because I was really off salad in general last year, and now it's the 1 genuinely healthy food that I semi crave.

I've also had lots of cravings for sweets, and I've been told by a bunch of people that that's usually a sign you need more protein. I've been trying really hard to incorporate more protein into my diet the past few weeks, and I do notice my cravings for junk have lessened lately. Could also just be a coincidence though.

Also, if you're into smoothies that's a good way to sneak some green foods in and satisfy your sweet cravings at the same time. You can also add some extra protein. I made a mint chip smoothie the other day with almond milk, fresh mint, spinach, banana, dates, protein powder, and some cacao nibs - probably 1 of the best things I've eaten all summer, and I felt good about it because I knew it was packed with lots of healthy stuff!
  • @BriannaE129129 I couldn't eat vegetables (literally, not one) during the entire first trimester and have slowly been incorporating them back into my diet. Funny thing is I'm a vegetarian. I also had to do toddler things to sneak them back into my diet (recently made macaroni and trees! Fun!). I've found that I can sneak a ton of veggies into frittatas. Really, I just make sure to take my prenatal vitamin and try not to worry about it. I have eaten more unhealthy during my pregnancy than any other time in my life (not because of "eating for two", but the food aversions) and I just had to let it go--it is what it is and a calorie is a calorie (I tell myself that to feel better).
  • Thanks for the advice everyone. Smoothies are a great idea! I made them a lot when i was first pregnant but haven't recently... i should get back into that!

And I am proud to say I ate some cooked zucchini yesterday and some black bean salad with lots of veggies and avocado. Didn't LOVE it but I did it

  • @BriannaE129129 I've come to accept that pregnancy has really done a number on my love for food. The vast majority of the time eating meals feels like a chore :/
