  • LO just slept 11-4! I think it was the bath before bed... But I find it dries out his skin so I don't want to do it everyday, but it's pretty tempting
  • DS usually goes down so easy for his feeding in the middle of the night 30-40 minutes easily. We have been up almost 2 hrs. I have no idea what his deal is. I just want to go back to sleep!

  • Ahh I thought we had passed our every 2 hour feedings. Had 2 good nights and now tonight, bam. Up every 2 hrs again...

  • Today Levi had a really good day and I got stuff done and relaxed. We played canyland, I made dinner for once (and early), and had the kids showered and in bed fairly early. Well, apparently I fed them dinner too early because I just caught my 6 year old in the kitchen trying to get a middle of the night snack! I think he was still half asleep, he didn't say a worD and went back to bed lol
I dream of the days when my kids can get their own snacks...
    Yeah me too lol
  • DH has been with DD on night duty as I recover from this nasty cold.

I'm nursing her right now and then we are off to her 2 mth check up (dun dun dun...2 mth shots today).

Just want to hold her a little tighter today as her shot at 1 mth check up was too much for me to watch. I'm looking down at this peacefully milk drunk baby and I just feel so bad for her!! :(
  • I will be miss breastfeeding at any dr appt with this LO, our office is busy. It was so nice to just whip these bad boys out and feed DS if needed. There is nothing more stressful than not having a bottle or forgetting formula at the Dr. When everything is taking forever and your child is starving.
  • I've been wondering if it's OK to take a few minutes and nurse in the room at the doctors. At LOs last visit she had to get a heal stick for her 2nd round of newborn screening tests. She was hysterical and I knew she was due to nurse soon as well. It wouldn't take long .. I just didnt know if that was okay, I don't want to back up appointments.
  • @jkershaw2013
Both times I have been they have told me it's fine to take some time and nurse in the room before leaving. I would recommend you ask, it's probably really common.

  • @jkershaw2013 I didn't nurse today but they know it takes some time to calm down your baby esp. after shots. They told us to take our time bc baby A was hysterical. Oh my heart.

@Bookhousegirl thanks! The first one was oral vaccination and baby A liked it. She kept smiling and cooing at the nurse. Then the second vaccination was the complete opposite. Baby A screamed and it was so long that she had to catch her breath to continue her crying. It was awful!

Doc said if she sleeps a lot today, don't bother to wake her to feed and to just let her sleep as long as she wants. Poor babyyyyy :(

Oh and you know how I was worried about getting baby sick from me and DH? Doc said baby is least likely to get sick esp when breastfeeding...whew!
  • @jkershaw2013 you can certainly ask the doctor, but I would think they would be very open to you nursing afterwards. When I have gone to the dr with my LO they have always told us to take as much time as we need.
  • @jkershaw2013 I don't think it would be a problem, but I always dressed DD really fast and run to the car so I could take my time nursing her.
  • I always end up nursing before leaving the doc, they always tell me to take my time, and our office is usually pretty booked. At urgent care I was nursing while waiting for the doc and he actually offered to come back when he was done eating to look at him.
  • @jkershaw2013 each time I've been to the peds office they also tell me to take my time to nurse. They put a certain color flag outside the room so the staff know not to interrupt. I feel bad because it always seems to take me at least 30-40 mins with LO but I figured hey, they offered and don't seem to mind ( or at least hide it well) :)

Our doctors have always said we could stay and nurse as long as we need. But they also have like 6 exam rooms.

@MrsEWilson what movies are you watching? I need some new flicks in my life.
Bad Moms was amazing, a lot of extreme language but I loved It! Suicide Squad, the new Huntsman movie, secret life of Pets (that was super cute) & I started now you see me 2, but the sun was coming up and I figured I needed a nap before my LO woke up
  • I never thought about asking to nurse LO before we left the exam room especially after shots.

I was thinking about doing it today bc I was going to the store afterwards, but I didn't want someone coming in asking why I was still there without knowing I was BFing.

I will definitely ask next appt bc that will be her 2 month appt.

  • Ped said to put baby to sleep for the night between 6-8 pm. Baby just fell asleep after feeding. It's now 8:40 pm and I know I should be sleeping when she is but...it's 8:40 pm...
  • @AliKay20 I feel like 6-8 is so early!! Baby Q will sleep a good chunk (5 hrs) then feed for an hour and back to sleep for 1.5 hrs only before he's up for like 4 hours in the morning. If I put him to bed between 6-8, my "morning" would end up starting at like 3:30 am... No thanks! I can handle 11pm - 6:30am much better
  • I've always been one to take our time in the pediatricians office. I will nurse, change diaper if needed and then go. Our pediatricians office have never discouraged it.

  • I have a feeling it's going to be a long night. LO decided to start cluster feeding around 8 tonight. Hoping I'll get some sleep tonight.

  • I'm staying up to snuggle with my cat because I feel bad I've been neglecting him... DO and DS are sound asleep...
  • Decided since G was one month old, I was going to try to transition from the rock n play to his bassinet. After about zero sleep so far tonight, I'm feeling like this was a bad plan. He was finally getting some 5 hour stretches at night. I should have never messed with a good thing.

We do bed at 6:45ish, then wake him at 10/10:30 to eat, then back down. That way the longest stretch is still from 10- usually 3ish and then back down one more time. I will say this causes an early wake up time (around 6:30/7), but that actually works better for us, since DS1 gets up at that time anyway. This schedule is what got DS1 to sleep through the night, and it gives DH and I our evenings back, so we can sit and eat dinner together.

  • Second night of waking up every 1.5 to 2 hours. He is so inconsistent with his sleep patterns. I know I'm expecting too much from a 3 week old, but getting a huge stretch of sleep two days ago is making this really hard. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Looking forward to when a schedule starts to happen.

  • @AliKay20 I have been thinking the same thing lately. DD has been going down around 8 and I don't want to go to sleep then! I want to stay up hang out with DH or watch TV uninterrupted. But I end up going up to bed to watch TV and pass out!
  • @LWC1112 I'm right there with you! 2 weeks ago LO was going 3-4 hours between feedings and then the last 2 weeks she's been doing 1.5-2.5 hours max at night. This wouldn't bother me as much if she hadn't teased me with the longer stretches earlier on!  Also the past few nights she decides she wants to be wide awake from 10-12 and then sleep all morning... Need to back that up a few hours!

Cannot wait for her to fall into a schedule..

  • @entropicallyfavored let me know how the zantac does. We just started today with it as well. The pharmacy had to order it so it took a few days to get his prescription. I hate giving him medicine for it but also don't like his silent reflux at night.
  • With DD1 I was able to nurse while she received her shots which helped a lot
  • @entropicallyfavored I think reflux is the case for my little guy too, as well as gas pains that wake him up! Keep us posted if the Zantac helps- our ped wasn't very interested in starting meds but I may be persistent if I need to. Poor guy just randomly throws up sometimes even being on an incline!

Why did the bump change my name to this?!?!! :((

  • My LO is starting Zantac tonight. I didn't want to medicate so young but seeing him in pain is unbearable. Fingers crossed that this does the trick and Good luck to you other moms that are starting the Zantac.
  • @huskymama725 is was just screwing with your exhausted self.

  • Hello 2am feeding  :|
I definitely took all of my pregnancy sleep for granted  :'(
  • Night one of Zantac.  So far so good. It's just after 2am and he seems to be resting comfortably for the first time in a long time right after a feeding. I hope this is working. How is everyone else after the first round of Zantac?
  • I've given up!!! He's been crying since 1am and it's now 4am, around 3 I started crying with him....so now we're just sitting here very puffy and red, almost calm then the damn dog passes his reflection in the mirror & freaks out barking!!!! Now we're back crying  :'(
