@Curls919 we were on the same schedule last night.... Every 1.5 to 2 hours. He slept so well the first two weeks of his life but these last two days have been awful. I'm exhausted.

Same boat here. Those first weeks really had me feeling we had it pretty easy generally. The past few days has been exhausting. Hoping it is just temporary.
He was fussing at 7am (after falling back asleep at 6am). Thankfully by the time I got up and peed he had settled so I got another hour of sleep. But probably only got 5 hours of sleep at most.
@ramoseecology I'm hoping it is the two week growth spurt since he is at two weeks. He has been sleeping so much during the day though but how in the world do you keep a newborn awake?! I try to entertain him but he usually just ends up screaming.
@ShanRum3 oh wow I did not know! That makes sense though. My pedi is still having me wake baby every three hours to eat, too. I'm thinking it's because he's still weighing small, though he is gaining quickly to make up for being small for gestational age. Hoping this changes soon, and I can let him sleep a little longer, it seems like that's what baby wants, too.
@LWC1112, I went to UVA for undergrad (graduated 2002) - I miss it so much. Go Wahoos!!!
@texasmama2014, you may also want to check out some of the places on the UVA campus, i.e. the Rotunda, the Lawn, Edgar Allen Poe's room, etc. I used to work in the ED at UVA which is what lead me down my current career path - I hope your sister likes it there.
@AliKay20, I've decided to take the "these are the rules if you want to hold the baby" approach. Wash hands (I have hand sanitizer with me at all times), do not touch or kiss the baby's face or hands, and stay away if you are sick. I'm also surprised at your experience - I've taken LO into the ED that I work at several times to show him off to the nurses and they all goo and gah and have the good sense not to touch him. In the future don't feel shy about speaking up if what you are seeing makes you feel concerned or anxious!
DH fell asleep on the couch after a movie. Told me he'd follow shortly when I came to be about 11. He usually feeds peanut the 1 nightly bottle sometime btwn 3-5. But I also have a king bed to myself. ....To wake or not to wake.....hmmm...
Just spent a half hour cleaning the main floor of my house. At 130am. Regretting the birthday bbq I planned for my daughter because I forgot it would involve having to make my house presentable again. Levi's colic has prevented me from continuing to keep up on the house for the last 3 weeks. I totally had this mom of 3 shit down until then! But I think that's what I get for thinking I had life under control lol
I miss sleep DD is constantly wanting to nurse. I put her down when she sleeps and back up she is. Also she keeps fussing. I don't know what it is. She is 4weeks and 4days...when will I at least get 3hrs of sleep? I am so envious to all of you who are getting sleep.
To those BF is your LO super fussy or just wanting to be with you always? Any suggestions?
@Duffgurl It sounds like your LO is preparing for her first leap in the wonder weeks. We've just gone through it and it's filled with fussing, crying, and crappy sleep but they end up being awake and alert more during the day and smiling. What helped us get through it was a good swaddle and a pacifier (our LO only decided a couple of days ago that he'd actually take one). You may want to try a pacifier if you feel she's using you as one just to give yourself a break. Also, keep telling yourself that it's temporary and will pass. Hang in there, mama!
@skelly1990 wonder weeks I am for sure telling my self this won't last forever. Looks like I'll be getting some pacifiers tomorrow. I look forward when this passes.
@Duffgurl DS will be 5 weeks on Tuesday and has been wanting to nurse more frequently the last few days and is harder to put down and keep down. He won't sleep very soundly if he isn't in our arms. We have been swaddling, using a soothie pacifier when he'll take one and bouncing him next to the vacuum. It's been helping a lot. We also got out today (car ride, visit to the park, etc) and he slept one longer stretch afterwards--perhaps he was processing the experiences.
I dealt with a screaming baby for the better part of 4 hours last night. He wanted to eat every half hour, for 10 minutes or so at a time. He would then go to sleep for a few minutes and when I'd go to put him down, he was suddenly awake and crying again. I kept trying the binkie, in hopes I could trick him, but he wanted no part of that! Finally he went to sleep around 11 and slept till 2:15, ate and went back to sleep till 5. I sure hope my big boys sleep in this morning!
We had a few days/nights of the 5 week wonder week here. But tonight he's slept (and let us sleep!). Up twice to nurse but has gone back down. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it for tomorrow night!
We seem to have a bad night a couple times a week, the other nights he sleeps pretty well. Last night was one of our bad nights.he ended up in bed with me most of the night, nursing every hour or so and fussing in between. Hopefully tonight he will sleep better, tomorrow is my big kids first day of school, and I'm hoping we can make it on time!
My LO stayed up all night half of it crying and the other looking at the projection from the sleeper thing. So my oldest brother came home from Afghanistan today and rocked him in his arms like it was nothing!!! Less than 5 minutes my baby fell asleep. Are you freaking serious??? I'm so tempted to ask him to be my part time helper so i can rest a bit, but I don't want him to use all of his time home on us.
I guess I'm the only Mama up tonight. I've discovered something called a fire stick, and I've been binge watching all of the new movies. Why must I pick the night he sleeps peacefully for four hours to stay up?? I'll regret it tomorrow, but mannnn the these are se good movies.

I'm up!!! A just finished nursing so I'll put him back down soon. This is the second night he gave a 6 hour stretch!

A 6 hour stretch??? I could only daydream about that. One day maybe lol.

6 hours!!! Tell us your secret! How old is your LO? We get excited about three hours over here and she is four weeks today.

I'm up too. I was up at 2 to pump and am now feeding. He was asleep for 7 hours last night. I'm in disbelief. And I hate my boobs since they are what woke me at 2 am.
Up here. He was fussy all day, slept an hour at 9 pm, took until 1AM to get to sleep and was back up at 3AM for a change and feeding. DH is not helping and it is taking about 2 hours minimum to feed him and get him back to sleep here.

He was 5 weeks on Saturday. Before that he had several nights where he'd be up from 11-4 or only give 2 hour stretches or less. I have no secrets lol
@LWC1112 my boobs woke me before LO did too. Boo. Though she was quietly stirring after 3.5 hrs so I waited for her to wake, which was about 5 minutes.
I seriously cannot wait for 4,5 or 6 hour stretches at night! Except for my boobs..

We got a 6 hour stretch last night! But it took him a long time to fall asleep again, so by the time he did it was time for me to get up. But I'm getting hopeful this will become more regular! His colicky time now seems to only be a couple hours at night instead of on and off all his waking hours. He's becoming more alert and making faces that seem to match his mood. It's so fun and so sad to see all the changes in him, especially the last week!
My LO is 2.5 weeks. We have had nights of 5-6 HR stretches (magical), and nights of 2 hours in between feedings, and I cannot for the life of me connect the good nights to anything during the day!! Sometimes I think he decides to sleep when he knows I'm at my breaking point to say "this is the future mama.... Just make it through a few more weeks/months"
I'm hoping for another 6 hour stretch tonight. Except it's just about 11pm and he hasn't slept more than 5-10 min at a time since 2pm. As soon as we get him to sleep and put him in the bassinet he's screaming within 10 min.
I'm staying up waiting for DS to wake and want to eat because it would be harder to go to bed now, only to have to wake an hour later. I'm so tired though!
@bananers I've done the same before. It is harder for me to wake up after only getting 45 min to an hour so I'll just continue binge watching tv. Hope you get some sleep asap!
Today Levi had a really good day and I got stuff done and relaxed. We played canyland, I made dinner for once (and early), and had the kids showered and in bed fairly early. Well, apparently I fed them dinner too early because I just caught my 6 year old in the kitchen trying to get a middle of the night snack! I think he was still half asleep, he didn't say a worD and went back to bed lol

I dream of the days when my kids can get their own snacks...

I keep telling myself this too shall pass.
This too shall pass.

It's going to be a long night.
So tired.
