the pee thing after delivery is something I got forgotten about. They had this pee catcher to prove that I peed and the first time I went I over flowed it. Lol. I was fine with visitors in the hospital and at home. The only stressor for me was having my inlaws staying with us also. But we got thru it.
Regarding the HPV vaccine, I'm 25 and I never got it. It was never even mentioned to me by my OB. My mom mentioned once, but never pushed for it. I totes got HPV two years ago..... So that sucks.

@jennpearl007 last year my friend had a bachelorette and her friend didn't want to come bc she was pregnant. She didn't come out with us but she came by early to say hi and help us get ready. I know your friend is an hour away but is that a possibility?

One of my best friends is getting married soon and her sisters are throwing her a bachelorette party this Saturday. The more I think about it, the more I don't want to go. I don't want to be a bad friend, but the invite literally says to dress sexy, bring wine, and dollar bills for the strippers.
My sexy clothes don't fit, I couldn't find any "sexy" maternity clothes at the mall, I can't drink wine, and I just don't feel like being around strippers and a bunch of drunk girls when I am going to be completely sober. On top of it all, the venue is an hour away from where I live. I fall asleep by 8 or 9pm most nights and I don't know how I feel about driving home late at night if I am exhausted.
How do I tell my friend I don't want to go?
My SIL had a 3 month old and was breastfeeding when her sister had her Bachelorette party. She also had a 5 year old and 2 year old at home so it wasn't realistic to go to the party, instead she took her sister for brunch and to a spa for mani pedis. Honestly, her sister was very understanding. I think if you did it that way your friend might see that you want to celebrate her and take it well.

What a bummer that Gingersnap got banned!!! That "brave" pic stuck out to me, I'm in mobile and the darn pics are so small I feel like I double look anything with watery scenes and dogs. Aaaand my oldest turned 10 Friday and just got bumped up to the intermediate school this year so I'm feeling a bit bummed and like I'm getting OLD.

This is off the current topic but I'm not ready to be cold yet and our high for the day was 55 degrees. Getting to 40 tonight and I need alllllll the blankets already. I need a week or so to acclimate, these 40 degree up-down swings within a day or two give me whiplash! ~drinks all the hot cocoa~
@jennpearl007 I went to a bachelorette this pregnancy and it really wasn't that bad! I just wore what worked for me (a cute but unsexy dress) and amused myself buying people shots and trying to get them drunk. The only annoying thing was that people kept wanting to ask me about the baby and I didn't want to take away from the bride. It's all in your frame of mind going in. Strip club is annoying-they're not ever my thing-but otherwise I'd go but leave early if you need to, or at least go to any dinner portion that may be going on.
I went to a bachelorette party while pregnant as well - my SIL was pregnant too. We went for the drinks & games and the dinner portion of the night. The bride to be was very understanding when we called it a night after the restaurant (around 10:30pm). They were going to hit a few clubs afterwards and we were too tired for that.

My son has been trying to transition from calling me "mommy" to just "mom". He started off by asking me if he could call me just mom when he started first grade. I asked him why and he said it was "a little weird calling me mommy, in front of his friends." I had no sympathy for the first grader age so I told him he had to keep calling me mommy. Ever since then it has been a constant game for him to call me anything but mommy, (like moy, when you say it it almost sounds like mommy) and me try to catch him. Today my son who turned 10 friday, and started 4th grade called me just "mom" and I made the decision to let him go with it. I just acted like the mature understanding mom I should be and didn't even address it. I'm so bummed about it, he will most likely never call me mommy again. I did put up a good fight though.
@jennpearl007 do you know other people who will be at the bachelorette party or just the bachelorette? I have bad social anxiety but when I have a few drinks I'm fine and will warm up to people I don't know. However being stuck sober only knowing 1 person while everyone else gets smashed would be awful. If I know the other people I would consider going for a bit but if you don't know anyone else I'm sure your friend will understand you not going and you can always ask her to do something just the two of you instead.

@imalwaysme79 We and aren't doing a formerly decorated nursery Our room is 10x10 so we want to keep it lowkey and as uncluttered as possible (ha!) I'm in awe that people put such great nurseries together: the Pinteresty ones, the themed ones etc. They're so fun to look at but the coordination to have one is out of my skillset. We'd rather not do cutesy either, let me know if you stumble across any good ideas! I fear our nursery will end up bland instead of minimalist (although in the grand scheme of things I'm aware it's not the most important thing ever, not like I'm slated for a magazine shoot anytime soon )
@imalwaysme79 we're not that into cutesy either. We're doing a nature theme and just using lots of nature-art (think guidebook type drawings of animals) that we already have. The walls will be yellow, and furniture won't be a matching set since there are lots of hand-me-downs that it seems a shame to waste. I'd like to add a nice houseplant or something too. No wall decals.
@imalwaysme79 - yes! and I am dying to get it started, it is driving me bonkers lol. We decided on a safari theme, with a nice green color for the walls and will have different animals (zebras, giraffes, elephants, etc). It will work for either gender so I just want to get it started. The nesting is so strong right now I feel like I NEED to have that nursery done....even though I have 24 weeks to go lol
@BlondePeanut I'm so glad you mentioned nesting, so THATS what's happening to me!! I naively thought that only happened closer to birth. Apparently I need everything in order ASAFP to feel content, as well as 3 home cooked meals a day with baked goods to boot. So much for going with the flow I'd light a serenity candle but I'd need like 30 of them and my smoke alarms are touchy
To other STMs: when is a good deadline for having a nursery complete? (Complete as in usuable, not necessarily perfected). Like start of 3rd tri? We'd like the baby in our room for several months so maybe I'm just putting pressure on myself that is unnecessary anyways
I have a color scheme in mind (teal, grey, navy), but can't really find a whole lot. I don't want animals or things like that in the print. It's all I have been searching for lately!
@imalwaysme79 LO will be sleeping in our bedroom for the first couple of months, and we haven't gotten around to really decorating DDs room yet (of course, we did just move last week)...so no. I love to look at other people's ideas for nurseries, but I think the most we'll get around to do is some pictures. No color themes or anything. So I hope everyone else will keep the awesome idea boards and pictures coming, I love seeing them (as I slack off all the way over here...).

Stripes and chevrons in those colors are everywhere lately! It doesn't have to be a theme; it's really more for you than the baby. Sounds pretty!
@yogadevil - Glad I am not the only one lol. We plan on keeping baby in a basinet in our bedroom for the first 3 months or so....but I just have this crazy need to have the nursery done now. Right now. Granted we don't have all the furniture, etc yet, but I want it painted NOW and ready to put the crib and everything in. It is driving me batty to walk in there and know it is the room for the nursery and see nothing done. I can't even explain how badly it is driving me nuts....and I am only 4 months this week. I also though this would happen 3rd tri....not now lol. I just feel like there is so much to do and I need to get it started so I can rest up the 3rd tri when I know I will be much bigger and not able to do much at all. Maybe that is why I am going cuckoo?
