Guys!! We had our anatomy scan yesterday!! Baby did not want to cooperate until the end and then finally we got to see the goods.. We have to go back because the tech did not get all the views she needed. She also said not to paint the nursery but that she wouldn't tell us unless she was almost absolutely certain..
@cabu14 Your party was so freaking cute! I love it!
I can't find the motivation to accomplish anything this morning. I had so many plans running errands and now I'm still laying in bed with my cat watching reruns of The Nanny. ... I'm not mad about it.
New development in pregnancy - I can barely paint my toes. It's such a struggle. I think I might have to ask DH or pay for a pedicure. I just hate having my feet touched by anyone else. I thought I had longer before this happened!
The girls were at their dads house last night so DH and I got a date night--we watched the new Jungle Book. It was SOOO good. (But it would terrify our DDs--glad we decided to watch without them)
DD1 (2008) DD2 (2010), #3 (DH's first bio kid) on the way in January 2017! Almost always mobile bumping--forgive my typos.
I'm just watching game day getting ready to watch football! My team plays at 12. I hate that I can't drink! That is half the fun, drinking a bloody Mary while watching game day.
Guys....9 months of pregnancy is long. My goodness. I'm 5 months in. What the heck am I supposed to do for the next four? I'm a STM. We have everything we need. I'm excited to meet this person.
@cabu14 your party decorations are on point! I love them!
We have fantasy football draft today that we are going to. It's my DH's friends and I am the only girl in the league. Also.. I just found out the draft is a Hooters. So cliché lol.
I also had a complete panic attack yesterday because my work laid off my entire department expect for me. Which means that I am taking over a lot of work/responsibility/getting promoted?? It was horrible. Everyone cried, I got NOTHING accomplished, and now I'm panicking at all the work that is left for me to do. Oh.. and I go on maternity leave in January No Stress at all right? lol

I feel this way too! AND I already can't breathe after eating and her kicks have started to hurt a little--chill out kid. We have months left!

Ok so I had my hair cut today and the girl next to me was getting her hair done for her wedding... I have never encountered such a bridezilla! She was complaining about too many things for me to go into detail other than to say that most of the things she was complaining about would not have bothered me when I got married, but the thing that she said that really ticked me off was that she said that she's not allowing her MOH's son,who is her nephew, to attend the wedding or reception...and she hasn't told the MOH at all yet! What the heck? I know some people like kid-free weddings and while I personally think kids are what bring the most joy to a wedding, I understand that not everyone feels the same way. But to wait until the actual wedding to tell your own sister that her son may not attend? That's messed up. From what she said, a friend of the family is babysitting him during the ceremony, which the sister knows about, but then instead of bringing him to the reception like the sister thinks is going to happen, the friend is just keeping him for the night. So. Messed. Up. I would be absolutely livid with my sisters if they pulled a stunt like this, wedding day or not!
I'm so glad college football is back! I never gave two poots about football growing up but I spent the last four years living in a big college town working for the university and I grew to love it! I live "behind enemy lines" now in a non-college town of a rival state and its so weird. I just high fived a stranger I saw wearing the same team shirt as me lol.
My husband cut the grass for the first time since June and I'm so thrilled. DD and I are just sitting out in the front yard mad relaxing. To be fair we had a very hot dry summer and it didn't grow much until the last few weeks when it rained every other day and looked like a jungle overnight. At which point we discovered our lawnmower wasn't working. Of course. We chose to sit in the front yard so I could give a smug side-eye to any neighbors who I'm sure we're talking about our overgrown lawn
@mrshuse525 I'm sorry to hear about work! That sounds so unsettling. I hope your management had a plan to account for the amount of work that needs to be done.
So (how's this for random) we are considering to install solar panels and options were to either buy, lease or lease with buy option at the end of some period of time. We don't have the money for this right now but DH seems to be interested in this in the near future. Does anyone have solar panels? Does it work for you or do you regret the investment?
Ugh so DH and I had an argument about adding a front porch addition to our home. I've talked about this since we purchased our home a year ago. There is just something about a porch that seems homey to me, I want to be able to decorate a porch with pumpkins, and other holiday decorations. I've always pictured sitting outside reading a book under the porch, as this was something we definitely didn't have growing up in our row home. I was getting so frustrated with DH, he thinks it wouldn't bring a return investment so we shouldn't do it, but in the next sentence says he wants to stay here in our home forever. Our house is nice and cute but has no curb appeal and is so flat from the front, plus this is something I've always wanted.
Sorry just needed to vent, now I wanna go shopping to decorate our front steps. Haha
@LeahNicole do you have a back porch/patio already? I agree with you that front porches are awesome, especially for decorating at holidays, wondering if there's some way in the mean time that you could get the functionality or curb appeal you want as a compromise? Front garden maybe?
I just went to scrapbooking hell today. A little over a year ago, I lived in a rental house and had an accent wall in my bedroom that was literally floor to ceiling photos of all the places I've traveled around the world...
Well, when OH and I moved in together into a much nicer place like not even a month after I finished that wall, I didn't have the audacity to recreate it because it seemed super out of place. But I still was left with a humongous box of photos. Today nesting mode kicked into overdrive...
Stumbled across the whole Project Life scrapbooking product line.
And of course while at Joanne's, had to buy a canvas lampshade to do Totoro-themed line art on for the nursery... and an embroidery floss organizer because 120 bobbins of cross-stitching supplies is just crazy... basically, none of this would have happened if OH hadn't told me to pack up our home office so we can start moving things into our new house... but here we are.
I am having a really rough time at work, I am an emergency room nurse and work in a very rough environment, but I think this co-worker of mine has crossed a line. He generally is a difficult person to deal with but tonight was too much. During our "huttle" before shift he said that we were going to have to get a bigger room because I was getting so big and continued to make comments about me being fat (he knows I'm pregnant), then later on the in same evening he said I don't do anything but sit on my butt for 12 hours. I am on light duty at work due to having a high risk pregnancy. I am so upset! I'm not even big, I have only gained 2 pounds and I cannot control what limitations the doctor places on me to keep me and baby healthy.
@mrshuse525, how awful! We have had mass layoffs before, and it's traumatic for everyone. I think there's also an element of survivor's guilt when you get to stay as well. All the hugs to you going forward after that.
have fun at your draft party!! Ours is today too. FF is how I get through football season. It's so fun!
@tsaunder85 that is horrible!! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that jerk, on top of having a high-stress job. I agree with PP, it's time to file a complaint.
@gigantan Solar panels make the most sense if you're going to stay in the house for more than 10 years. That's if you buy. You won't see the real financial benefit until then, maybe longer, depending on the size of your system. There are also state restrictions regarding storage, size, and financial benefits. I recommend looking into those for your state. I don't currently have solar, but it is something we are planning on doing once we're in our forever home (and hopefully have a roofline that faces south-southwest and can afford a couple Telsa batteries for storage!). My work just installed a massive system and I was very involved, but that's my only real experience with it.
In the meantime, if you're looking for ways to use more sustainable energy, some areas now offer a cooperative of sorts for a community-based sustainable energy program (typically wind-generated). If something that like is available in your area, it would, most likely, be offered by your standard power utility. We do that in our town. It's a few bucks more per month (total), but we think it's worth it. Good luck! (And, kudos to you and your husband!)
@tsaunders85 I would definitely be filing a report to HR about that. Those are completely inappropriate comments and you shouldn't swallow harassment like that--who knows how many other people he might also be harassing in a similar manner.
So I finished stranger things this week and last time I went to the store I couldn't resist some Eggo waffles. Got some blueberry whole grain - every bit as delicious as I hoped they would be.
@tsaunders85, from an HR POV I would definitely suggest filing a complaint with the department. I would then suggest keeping a log of all future harassment from this employee, and turning it in to HR once you have a compiled a significant amount of "evidence". Your HR department will not be able to ignore his actions at that point.
I am sorry that you have to deal with such ugly behavior from a co-worker, I hope it gets resolved!
My boobs have grown so much I finally went to get re-sized today because my current bra has been so uncomfortable and causing a rash... so I went from a size 36D to a 36DDD.... holy moly.... what's going to happen once my milk actually comes in??? I can't with these boobs right now......
On a positive note, my husband is really excited.... lol
I'm prepping for my sisters surprise 30th birthday party with some crafting and whatnot. I even did a trial of the cake! Tell me you don't want some of that!

Oh hell no! You need to go to HR and file a complaint. Those comments are not okay, no matter what. Ugh, sorry people are jerks!
Ok, MIL complaint right here. For my birthday, my MIL buys me clothes. (FYI she is constantly buying me the most hideous clothes that I never wear. They aren't ever even remotely my taste ever.) She brings in this bag and starts this spill about how they aren't maternity clothes, but she thinks they'll work. I shoved them in the corner of my room, and I haven't thought about them in a couple of weeks because I hate returning things.
Well, I pull out the bag today to see what I'm dealing with. There are 2 pairs of pants in there that are control top. We're talking strong, sucky-in elastic. What pregnant woman wants a pair of pants that are trying to constrict her midsection? I can't think of anything that would be more uncomfortable and even maybe unhealthy to wear during pregnancy. Should we be trying to smash down our midsections right now? Holy cow this woman.
@canavara we don't have a back porch either. We got our house for a great price but it needs upgrades. I wouldn't mind no front porch if we decided we were staying in our house for only a few years but he wants to stay here long term so I think that adding things every few years is reasonable.
@gigantan we had solar panels installed almost a year ago and love them! We got them when there was a fantastic tax credit and my H's company was offering very low interest rate loans to buy them. It was still quite the investment but we're in our forever house so it made sense. We make more energy than we use and sell the rest back to the electric company. Currently we are paying the loan payment and have no energy bill. When the loan is paid off we will have a net profit. There are some additional perks, like adding more years to the life of the roof and they are a nice sun buffer that keeps the upstairs cooler.
