@scostel2 Maybe she meant "requested", like @LauraPCOS said and just slipped up? But, she is infamously self-centered, so I don't know. We already gave her $100 cash, but if I don't decide to "call in sick" to her shower, I can swing a book and some diapers. Just debating whether or not to pull her aside and let her know how deplorable her behavior and etiquette has been throughout this entire process.
@allythekid I can't even! I wouldn't bring either because it just kills me that audacity of some people! You don't tell people what to gift you- you have a registry if you want diapers and books register for them! I can't stand that gift on top of a gift thing. So greedy!
Also out of spite I would say buy 'goodnight moon' and write in it so she can't regift or return it and she will have like 5 copies of it. But my love of books would say if you're gonna participate buy a more unknown book.
What did you wear? A blue knee length dress with gold jewelry.
Was there a theme? When you wish upon a star/Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - TW... we had a loss last November and when we were at Disneyland at the end of December all I wanted to do was make a wish at the wishing well (I know it's silly), but the well was closed for a parade setup. They told me to come back afterwards, and I did, but then they told me it was closed due to the firework setup. So I left. No wish. Kind of bummed. Then on the way home there was the biggest shooting star... and then another... and another! Ok, so there happened to be a meteor shower that night, but whatever. So I just kept making my wishes. Again, I know, silly, but I was super emotional. So I told my mom that story and she and my BFF's ran with the theme.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was exactly as I expected
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Everything was perfect. The only thing is that I wish I took more pictures!
Any pictures you want to share? A few... I'm going to upload in just a few minutes. I WISH I got a pic of this food table when everything was out... this was when it was kind of picked over. I was waiting for it to get darker because there were twinkle lights in EVERYTHING, but then I forgot lol. The little stick tree below has tags for people to write advice and stuff. My hostesses/bff's and little sister. You can't see, but I'm wearing a little gold headband made of stars. It was my fav part of the outfit.
@Julia70286 I love your theme, more for the story behind it, but it's so super emotionally sweet. I also love the decorations, well done hostesses. Plus you look great!!
Thank you everyone! I made a little speech at the shower after toasting my hostesses and told the story... or tried... I barely squeaked it out without crying lol. It was all close family and friends, so they understood!
@Julia70286, i came here specifically looking for your pictures! So beautiful! I love everything about your shower, but mostly I love that there's a story behind your theme. You looked beautiful!
My coworkers took me out for "happy hour" minus the drinks, obviously, after work today. There were 5 of us. It was nice to just chill and hang out a bit, and they were very generous. The best part was that everyone was too full for cupcakes from my favorite place after so I got to bring them home we didn't get a picture since one girl had to leave to pick her sick daughter up unexpectedly.
@strickland8052 haha I've seen versions of that before, I have a pretty 'sick' sense of humor so I think those cakes are funny but tbh I could not imagine actually having a piece of that cake!!
How many people attended? 15, I think. It was just my side of the family.
What did you wear? Dress from Pink Blush. I got orange juice of it within 5 minutes of getting there lol.
Was there a theme? I call my husband "Bear," so they went with "Baby Bear," but definitely didn't overdo it with theme decor.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Yeah, it was great. All but 2 who were invited came, so that was nice.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. They did a waffle bar since it was at 10am and that was yummy! I also liked that the decor was minimal. Not a fan of over-the-top themes and decor.
@copperboom86 love the dress! And I feel like I always have to cup the belly to make things look more flattering in photos... I also think my hand just automatically goes there when I am pregnant. Kind of like how once you have a baby you will sway all the time when standing even when you're not holding said baby!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes, it was lovely! I had a quite a bit of anxiety leading up to the shower because I'm uncomfortable being the center of attention. However, the day of the shower I was mostly calm and able to enjoy the time with my friends and family.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Surprisingly, my favorite part was playing shower games with the guests. I'm not very keen on shower games, but some of them were really fun.
Any pictures you want to share? See above and sorry if it's huge!
How many people attended? 30ish. It was just my group of friends plus the grandmothers-to-be and my aunt was able to come!
What did you wear? Navy maxi dress
Was there a theme? Nursery colors (navy khaki and white)
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes, my friends are amazing. It was relaxed and a good time!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. The food!! They tapped into my cheeseburger and ice cream cravings and it was all delicious.
When was your shower? Yesterday, 9/11 - Last official shower, still have two very informal ones to go.
How many people attended? 8 of my best friends in the whole wide world (2 had to leave before we remembered to take a picture), plus my mom and two other moms, so that's 11 not counting kids.
What did you wear? Dress from Pink Blush, as always!
Was there a theme? Nursery colors- lavender, white, and gray.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Absolutely! These girls are always there for me and I love them so much!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part was just getting to hang out with my best girl friends. Oh, and the games! I love shower games. I know I'm in the vast minority on that one, but I think they're really fun! Least favorite part was not getting a picture of everyone
When was your shower? Yesterday, 9/12 - express and really unplanned, I was notified on saturday
How many people attended? Around 12, just my mom's friends and MIL, as some of you know my mom's health has not been so great lately so I called off the shower she was planning, when her friends found out they prepared this
What did you wear? a traditional Mexican blouse
Was there a theme? we celebrate Mexico Independence day on Friday, so it was a Mexican Themed Shower
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. I really wasn't expecting a shower, everything was great and I loved how they managed to have everything ready in 3 days...
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part when they all shared with me their experiences as moms/grandmas and to feel how much they love my mom, the least favorite something I ate at lunch was really bothering me, I felt nauseous all the time and couldn't try all the traditional and delicious food that was in front of me that was really not fun.
Below some pictures, my mom is the one not wearing Mexican clothes (she is Mexican but doesn't like traditional clothing), they made delicious cheesecake in mason Jars as a thank you for coming gift
Re: Baby Showers!
She seems like a peach.
Also out of spite I would say buy 'goodnight moon' and write in it so she can't regift or return it and she will have like 5 copies of it. But my love of books would say if you're gonna participate buy a more unknown book.
How many people attended? About 40
