Mom win- first public bf in the home depot parking lot! Using a cover, but even using the cover at home to test using it has been a struggle usually- not today though! I so want to be confident with bf in public, but it definitely is taking some time. I brought a bottle just in case but am so happy I can save it for later.

You'll get there! The first few times in public can be really awkward and difficult but before you know it you'll be BFing one-handed while pushing a shopping cart.

This sounds so impossible right now. I feel like I need two hands and an entire damn support team right now to breastfeed!!
Mom fail: I had a bit of a mental breakdown/panic attack this week, which put me in the hospital for three days. Poor DH has been taking care of Aria all on his own.
Mom Win: I am on a new set of medications and feel a lot better. I hope I continue to feel ok when I am back home. I am getting discharged in about an hour and I can't wait to hold my baby!

@midwestbaby I wouldn't consider that a mom fail at all; it's really a mom win. You recognized you needed help to be the best mama to Aria and you got it! Yes, you missed her and DH terribly and I'm sure they missed you; but this also gave them time to bond. ☺

I did my hair today for the first time since E was born. All day I've been prying hair out of freakishly strong baby fingers, and tonight I got spit up in my hair. Rookie mistake. Bun comes back tomorrow.

My win is that when A got hungry in the middle of DS1's bedtime routine, I nursed him while dancing around DS1's bedroom (he insists we sing "dance songs" before "calm songs" every night).
Win: Baby finally has a spot at a daycare!!!!! After sitting on 5 wait lists since January, and even signing up with a nanny search firm a few weeks ago, we finally have childcare figured out for when I go back to work in October. Thank you Jesus, because I am not cut out to be a stay at home mom!!!!
Sleep last night was rough. We had two days of getting a 4 hour stretch but last night I was up every two hours nursing or pumping to alleviate pressure. Managed to convince DD to lay with us for an hour this morning and watch tv. God bless tv.
@LWC1112 Disney is crack for DD. I shamelessly have something on almost all the time. She's 2, she's not sitting down watching... Just catching parts while standing and playing mostly.
@kwilliams3402 This gives me hope!!! We are waitlisted till December. I am waiting in an email from the director to see if we can start in October vs December. Yayy for you!!
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.

I've been following up with each of the wait list places monthly since like January... Until yesterday we were told mid-November at the earliest. Hoping you get a similar awesome surprise!!
Mommy win: I started feeding with LO laying on top of me to help him with my forceful letdown, which is going great. He hasn't choked or coughed during any feedings today and hasn't spit up at all. I'm hoping it helps with the issue until he can keep up.
Mommy fail: LO spit up all over the pnp last night due to eating too much too fast (reason I started researching what to do to help him out at 1 this morning). I thought I had it all cleaned up, but when we got up for the day his entire head was crusty from sleeping in a spot I missed. He went straight into a bath, but I felt awful he'd had to sleep in a wet spot.
Mom win: DS1 (almost 3) went down for a nap on his own in his toddler bed for the first time since we transitioned him in June. Normally he either won't nap at all or needs to be rocked or taken for a ride in the car to fall asleep. I am thrilled! Hoping it's not just a fluke!
@tisunge602 big win!! DD is almost 2 and we just had to breakdown and make her cry it out for nap and bed time. The first 2 days were hell but now she goes down with no issues! It's glorious!
@ginger819 I always am shocked at how much crusted milk DS has on his face each morning! It's impossible to get it all in the dark and there's no way I'm waking him up by turning on the light!
@tisunge602 big win!! DD is almost 2 and we just had to breakdown and make her cry it out for nap and bed time. The first 2 days were hell but now she goes down with no issues! It's glorious!
I'd have no problem doing that except he can get out of his bed and open the door by himself so he thinks it's all a big game. So one of us (usually DH) has been sitting just inside the door at bedtime till he falls asleep. Hoping we won't have to do that much longer.
so my DD hadn't pooped since morning.. and I was worried.. changing her diaper this happened!! I am sad about my top but happy about the fact that she pooped!! Also I think I blocked the poop from landing on my sofa!! So this counts as a win right????
@tisunge602 we have been having a similar problem. DH and I were actually discussing it earlier because we spend an hour at night trying to get her down when that could be our time together. Other moms in my love and logic class said they have actually locked the door from the outside so their kids couldn't get out. They said the first night was awful but all it took was one day. It sounds horrible but we are thinking about trying something like it. I don't care if she is still awake. I just want her in her room at bedtime being quiet.
Mom win: I had a GREAT day with Aria. Since we switched to formula she is sleeping so much better and is waaaay less fussy. I wonder if there was something in my breast milk that she didn't like. I was super careful about my eating healthy while BF (no caffeine or gassy types of foods). Who knows. Either way, I feel less guilty about switching since she seems so much happier.
Mom fail: Gave her a bath today for the first time in five days. She smelled divine! It lasted an hour...she had the biggest blowout massive poppy diaper in her car seat. All up her back and front. I couldn't believe the poop horror! I guess formula poops are no joke compared to breast milk poops.

LOL, mama - that's a major win right there. Major!
Mom Fail - We lost the title to one of our cars, needed to trade it in before I return to work so they I have a care. You ladies cannot imagine the car hell that was my life the past year. Anyway, lost the title which resulted in spending our entire day of paid daycare hours for DD in tracking the correct DMV location down to replace it (don't even get me started). And had to take my 5 week old and almost 3 year old car shopping.
Mom Win - After THE longest day ever this momma finally has a car. A big car! So excited. We spent a year off and on having the old one fixed with no avail so, it was basically living with one car. Not easy at all. I'm ecstatic!
@jacmkelley Wahoo! I bet you have a new sense of freedom with a car of your own!

@tisunge602 have you tried a child safety thing on the handle of the door? I know they make them for most types of doorknobs. Otherwise a lock on the outside might be the way to go, I know a couple of people who have had to do that.
definite mommy win - since it's a long holiday weekend, we took this opportunity to convert DS1 bed to a toddler bed. (2 next week). To my surprise, he went right to bed, and stayed in it all night! He loves it!!!

@Bookhousegirl We did try that -- little stinker figured out how to get it off! Anyway, the worst is over. This was our summer struggle but it seems like he's finally reached a turning point. Hooray!
@tisunge602 We have a gate outside of DS's room. He can't open it and can't get out. Thankfully.
We had a similar struggle between 2-2.5 with just yelling and wanting us in his room. After about a week, we ended up letting him cry it out. After 2 nights, he went back to his normal lovely sleeping. It was hard to deal with. That's for sure! I'm glad to hear you're hitting a change in the routine.
I whipped out my boob at the Air & Space Museum. It was a breakthrough moment as I felt uncomfortable only up until the time I whipped it out. Once baby was latched on, I was all, "move out the way b*tches!"
Just kidding about the last part. I carefully sat on a bench and made sure baby was breathing under my nursing scarf.
Double win - there was another new mom doing the same exact thing next to us. I told her, "hey- ya gotta do what ya gotta do!" Both her and her DH agreed. We should not be ashamed to feed our kids in public - whether through bottle or boob. What's important is that our babies are getting fed! I'll take that esp. over a fungry fussy child any day despite weird looks from people.
Mom win - I finally got my fasfa figured out. I had waited until the last minute to do it, so we were a family of 3, with a dependent, so we were entitled to more aide, and of course it got all effed up... four calls to fasfa later (I didn't even know you could actually call fasfa) and classes start a week from yesterday, and it was received by the college thursday. Mom win - doing something to better myself for our family. #gradschool
@AliKay20 I nursed in public today too for the first time! At the zoo. Walking. LOL. We had limited time before my 2 yo would have a melt down because it was almost naptime, so I figured we shouldn't waste it by me sitting. Of course, I was covered, but it didn't feel like I was doing anything other than walking at the zoo with my husband and kids.
I should also add that this is not a large zoo and was not largely populated. I may not have been brave enough to try this in a very busy area and certainly not without the help of my DH.
