Some days, we have our #winning moments. Then there are days when nothing seems to go right no matter how hard we try. #momlife

Hey, no judging allowed! It's a place where all of us can feel safe to laugh at ourselves even when we "fail."

DH had an early AM in the office so I decided to make oatmeal for breakfast & have some nice quiet alone time while baby sleeps. Well, I never made this kind before so per instructions, I poured in 4 cups of water to 1 cup of steel oats (despite my doubt that I needed that much water).

Well, whaddya know? As a result, this happened:

Water and oats be overflowin' everywhere. That loud sizzling sound made for a failed white noise and soon after, baby A woke up with a vengeance in her cry (for disrupting her sleep).

I don't even know how to clean up that dried "heart" shaped part - which DH pointed out in his text: "Thanks for the hidden heart. I love you too!"

Would it have hurt to let me know he cuts the proportion in half? Underlying lesson here - communication is key (which we obviously have to work on, lol)

Had to go on and clear out my office as it is being painted. DH had to come with as I can't lift more than 13 pu DS still, so baby came too. Took forever and we were so hungry at the end we decided to pick up food. Baby was sleeping so we thought drive through would be ok. Once we were trapped in the drive through line the baby wakes up in the back seat snd starts screaming.

Our car is really small and I can't sit in the back so I had to hop put and open the back door to sooth him. When we finally get through the line and can get baby out of the back seat we have to run inside to change him. DH only packed one bottle of milk that he already ate so I ended up breast feeding in public for the first time...in the parking lot of McDonalds, at 9:30 at night.

@liljabee with DD I was super conservative with breastfeeding and would make sure to cover up, went upstairs even if it was just MIL visiting, went to the car if there wasn't someplace private to feed her. My mom was surprised when during newborn pictures with this LO at a park I just turned towards some bushes and whipped a boob out. I try to stay out of sight, but I'm not worrying about throwing a blanket over his head or running to the car every time. I've definitely already fed him more than a few times in parking lots, because he hates the car seat and eating soothes him enough to go back in it and fall asleep.

He was just so upset, all I thought about was getting him fed. The college students were a little horrified (I work at a university). At least my French fries were still good cold. Lol

Costco, walmart, car dealership, Soup plantation, & pediatricians office have all been christened in the last 2wks of being out of the house. STM with a "I don't give a crap" attitude. With DS I never fed in public. At this point in the game, I've realized there are more important things to concern myself with than others' embarrassment. Thanks to motherhood maternity, I also scored a really cute Udder nursing cover.

@entropicallyfavored it's a really yummy salad bar restaurant - soups, breads, dessert and salad. When I lived in nevada they were called sweet tomatoes

Fail for the week: I was feeding DS in our bed and he peed, and it somehow leaked out of the back of the diaper, ran down my body, and got all over our bedding. So I relocated to the couch to finish feeding, and in the process of getting settled, knocked over a water bottle onto the keyboard of my laptop. Major mom fail. Luckily my laptop seems to have survived.

Win for the week: Gave DS a bath all by myself!

Threw used pump accessories into the sink to clean in the morning so I could get to bed quickly. Dog enjoyed a midnight snack and shredded the plastic.

@entropicallyfavored Oh my chocolate! They are amazing. If you ever visit the West coast try it out. Uber good for the sleep deprived, famished, wanting to eat somewhat healthy but on a budget, parent.

Mom win: Hayes had a 4.5 hour stretch tonight.

Fail: He covered a changing table at Nordstrom with pee yesterday. The cloth I used to cover him wasn't nearly heavy enough for his stream. Thank goodness we were in the private family restroom.

Yesss! Sweet Tomatoes!! Dh & I loved going there when we lived in IL. There's nothing like it out here at least in DC. I miss it!

This is actually a dad fail but it's too funny not to share. I was getting LOs bath ready and DH took him back to his room to change his diaper. He was carrying him back into the kitchen(because what better place is there to give a baby a bath) and LO pooped into DHs hand and it was running out and down his shirt. It was pretty hilarious for me but DH told him that he better be glad he's cute. #dadfail

@Lynnlove28 I did something similar! I had LO wrapped in her towel, she looked so cute so I took the opportunity to snuggle her for an extra minute. Well she pooped all in her cute little towel!

Mom win: got the mustard yellow stain out!! Thank God for spray and wash!

I was changing her wet diaper and completely took it off and was reaching for diaper when she decided to pee again and got it all over her onezie and blanket, i laughed at myself and looked at her and she was smiling #mommyfail #mommywinsasmile

@jacmkelly this gives me hope!!! DD is still not warmed up (baby is 1 week tomorrow) and I'm fighting so hard not to rush it... Plus her acting crazy doesn't help.

@jacmkelley @texasmama2014 Me too. DS1 has yet to hold his little brother and mostly ignores him. If he cries, though, he announces to everyone: "Baby Cah-win is cwying! Can you pick him up?!" so that's pretty cute.

I dropped off my baby with mil 10 minutes ago and haven't cried yet! Win! This is the first time someone has babysat him for more than 15 minutes. It was hard to walk out the door, so we'll see how long I can manage to stay out! Breastpump is at the ready... hoping I stay out long enough to use it

@tisunge602 and @texasmama2014 took some time! She didn't snuggle him this way up until about 3 weeks pp and she told us yesterday that he is her best friend. She is a VERY strong personality and very independent. She didn't need no little man stealing her heart

anyway, she really still won't hold him. She might ask but literally one millisecond into she declares she's done. I was terrified shed hate him forever. She was extremely disconnected from us the first week.

Mom win- I pumped for the first time and got 3 ounces!
Mom fail... I was feeding ds in bed last night and used the cat as a nursing pillow. He was asleep in the right spot.. Lucky he is an easy going cat. Boppy was on the other side of the room.

Mom win- Ella went down in her crib around 9:30 last night only woke up once at 1:30. Nursed her then back down by 2. She slept until 5:15! Holy cow I feel like a human!

@jkershaw2013 OMG i am so jealous! My LO went from going 3-4 hrs at night to every 2 hours for the last week! Ahhhhhh I'm losing steam! Lol that's so great though!

Mom win: I REALLY struggled BF my first a few years ago and quit after almost 3 weeks. This LO is 4 weeks today and so this marks 4 weeks of BF. (Patting myself on the back LOL). Not sure how long it will last, this ish is hard stuff! Moms who do this for 1 year+ are not messing around and deserve a trophy! Hands down to you!

I hope your LO goes back to 3-4 hour stretches soon! Also congrats on BF for 4 weeks!! It's hard but rewarding! Last night I told my husband "I can't believe I'm going to have to do this for another 11months and 1 week! My goal is 1 year of BF, we'll see!

Win: LO slept from 10-4:30 last night and I survived my first night alone with both kids. DH has been on first shift but his schedule rotated to his 2-11.

Fail: DD had mashed potatoes for dinner last night but she also had a fruit cup.

Fail: I decided to vacuum dice DS2 was sleeping and DS1 seemed occupied coloring in the kitchen. Less than 3 minutes later I check on DS1 and he has flooded the kitchen floor with water from the refrigerator door. I didn't even know he could reach the water dispenser, let alone know how to use it!!

Win: Now that I've wiped it all up, I'm considering my kitchen floor washed and am crossing it off my to do list.

I love seeing all these LO's sleeping longer!!! DS sleeps between 4-6 spurts at night. I am hoping it stays for awhile.

Win: 2 nights ago, DS went to bed at 8:20 pm and at 4:45 am I woke up in sheer panic and raced to his room. He was soundly sleeping. This was 100% a fluke night.

Fail: He possibly could have slept longer, but I will admit that I woke him up. I was scared.
