How were numbers this past week? - I had a spike of 144 when I was sick and taking Tylenol. Hoping my dr doesn't get her normal attitude with it! I've held off taking any meds when sick this whole pregnancy but I had to give in the other day. I was miserable!
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? - Anyone else feel guilty if you eat something you shouldn't? I cracked and had a Milky Way and took my sugar after and it was 98. But I'm sure if I try again it'll be through the roof!
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? - I like Halloween because I lovedecorating for it and getting dressed up! I can't wait to dress up the baby!
How were numbers this past week? They were okay! I had a bit of pasta last night--very small portion and my number went up to 118. It was still under 120 but man I do not do well with pastas, breads and rice. The results are immediate. Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? For a snack I started having 1 red delicious apple with peanut butter and cinnamon and it was so good. I sort of feel like I'm having apple pie lol
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas!!! I love the entire season and holiday. I love the smells, the family times, the traditions, giving gifts, decorating, the chilly weather, etc. It's my absolute favorite.
How were numbers this past week? Good, only one spike and I think it was because I waited too long to eat. I've also had to stop eating corn.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? What are your favorite breakfast foods? I've been eating eggs and toast every day and I'm getting sick of eggs.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas! I love everything about it- buying and giving presents, decorating the tree and house, Christmas stories and music...
@Michi1382 I don't think it was the Tylenol necessarily, just a mixture of being sick. I had a slight fever and I was all stuffed up and achy. I know sickness can affect it but I wanted to mark that I took Tylenol for my dr just in case
And Christmas is my second favorite! The holiday season I love so much! Getting to see family that we don't see a lot and now knowing this season, we will have our little man here!!
Oh! I forgot to add that I got yelled at by the nurse at my hospital when I called to give my GD numbers. She said I need to eat more breakfast but I feel like I'm also stumped @waterfall213 because I'm so tired of eggs.
@Michi1382 and @waterfall213 I've never been a breakfast eater so I usually eat a protein bar and a box of yogurt rasins because I'm obsessed with both lol... I've also done toast with sugar free jelly. Use the Sara Lee Delightful Bread! It's super low carb and tastes great!
I might have to try protein bars, thank you ladies! My biggest problem is that I can't eat more than 15 grams of carbs at breakfast without my numbers spiking. I would kill for a bowl of cereal!
Non stress test it is to determine if your baby is having problems from the GD. Amine napped the whole time only time it moved was when the lady touched me with cold hands then she got punched right in the hand
@Michi1382 NST stands for non-stress test. You get hooked up to a contraction monitor and heart rate monitor for the baby. It's to check baby's heart rate and movement.
@mrsb627 I'll look for those and give them a try when I go shopping Thursday it does get boring eating the same thing everyday eggs and veg is getting Boring. I miss frozen Mars bars lol
How big is everyone's baby measuring? I did the whole ultrasound Nst thing yesterday and the tech informed me that my baby green is measuring a week ahead and 5 and a half pounds. My other two kids I gave birth too were 7lbs 6oz and 6lbs 7oz I'm scared this baby is going to be the size of a 3 month old.
We did an ultrasound last week and they told me the baby was weighing in at 4.2. My daughter was born at 6.12 so I'm nervous about the largeness of this baby as well lol
I have a growth scan Thursday, I'm curious to see how big she is. 4 weeks ago she was in the 50th percentile for everything except her legs, girl's got long legs! Estimated weight then was 2 lbs 12 oz.
@Michi1382 I just got informed about it last Thursday maybe mention it my schedue is now weekly visits with my Dr ultrasounds and NST every week until 36 weeks then twice a week.
How were numbers this past week? They were ALRIGHT. I had a couple overages, but went for walks or went swimming and they came right down. Except last night. We went to a buffet and on our way home I had DH drop me off down the block so I could walk the rest of the way... my blood sugar was STILL 158. Eventually came back down, but sheesh.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? I second the fiber one protein bars. I often keep one in my purse for snack time in case I'm out and about. For breakfast, I know they're not that great for you, but I've been doing the jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches and just taking off half of the bread. I'm with you ladies and I'm SO OVER breakfast. When I first was diagnosed with GD (at 13 weeks) I could do the Cheerios Protein cereal and stay within the number limits, but I suppose the GD has gotten worse because now it's a no go.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Fourth of July!!! I just love BBQ'ing and the parties and the fireworks and the patriotism. Politics kind of ruined this last one for me (I'm just ready for this election to be over!) but I just love the 4th of July! CLOSE second is Thanksgiving because I get to be with all my family and eat amazing food. I just love the ambiance and the anticipation of Christmas being around the corner.
Pretty good! Only one real spike because I thought I could get away with eating a whole ear of corn on the cob since I was only around 110 or so after eating 1/2 ear a few days before. Whoops . . . apparently not.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies?
Meh. I'm with you all about getting sick of food choices, especially with breakfast. I have bean making quiches, which I enjoy quite a bit, but I still feel like I'm eating the same things over and over.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Easter, because it's one of the few holidays that isn't TOTALLY overcommercialized yet and I feel like I can just kick back and appreciate the spirit of the holiday.
DH and I: Early/mid 30s Married 7/15
TTC #1 as of 8/15
BFP 11/21/15 -- MC confirmed 12/1/15 BFP #2 2/18/16
@Mintz1982 I have a growth scan Thursday so I'll let you know then! But at 31 weeks he was already 3lbs 15oz so at 35 now he's prob around the same as your baby, if not bigger honestly!
How were numbers this past week? Still trying to get my fasting number under control. I did awesome today though so I think I may finally be getting on the right track.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? I'm with most of you on breakfast being the hardest meal to stay within the boundaries. I did find that Kroger's Carbmaster yogurt only has 4g of carbs in it so I've been eating that in the morning. I do need to find something to go with it because it's just not enough for me.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Halloween is my favorite! I love horror movies and carving pumpkins. My ideal fall date is apple cider and cinnamon donuts at the pumpkin patch. Plus who doesn't love to get dressed up and eat lots of candy?! (Except for all of us GD mommas lol).
@MrsB627 it had to be the sick part, not the Tylenol, not your fault and even if your doctor isn't happy seeing the number it's not like you were! They can't expect you to magically not get sick!
How were numbers this past week? Ok, my after-meal spikes are generally under control. But, I started getting lots of lows, day and night, and was basically chasing them constantly and waking up shaky. Not normal for me, like I'd drink a can of soda to treat a low and go low again an hour later. So I figured it was my insulin rates that have needed to increase throughout this whole pregnancy and at my Endo appt yesterday she said in the last month that usually starts to go back to normal so lows happen. Could have helped to be told to anticipate that but she def forgot that I was this far along!
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? Just to give a heads up, stuff (especially baked goods - not so much things like hard candy that only have sugar alcohols that I think don't count) that is called sugar free usually has carbs so it's a little misleading in that there aren't refined or added sugars, but will still affect blood sugar. So just remember to check labels and see if recipes provide nutrition info.
Also, I was kind of interested that it was just explained to me at my appointment also that my blood sugar control at the time of delivery is what determines if the baby is going to be fighting low blood sugar in the hospital. So if the mother's blood sugar is high during L&D, the baby's will go low after birth because it had made extra insulin to counter the mom's incoming high sugar levels.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas....Elf, the music, spending time with family, the food, seeing everyone open their presents, etc...love it!
How were numbers this past week? Not as good as they have been. Slowly creeping up. I had more unexpected spikes from carbs I usually tolerate. I've only got 3 weeks to go since it's twins, so I'm hoping I don't have to start meds now.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? What are your middle of the night snack suggestions? I'm up twice during the night, the first time for Tums. The 2nd time because I'm hungry.
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why?
Christmas! Coffee, food, family, presents, sometimes snow, shopping, church, fires in the chimney, decorations, Christmas movies, etc.
How were numbers this past week? bad, plus I skipped several - I've been terribly sick AND the fall semester started, so between being in class, being at appointments, and being too tired/sick to check and write things down properly, I've missed some. I was just starting to do well with fasting numbers, too.
Any questions or suggestions for the GD ladies? I was getting tired of a lot of eggs and breakfast meats, too. Plus I really don't have time to cook in the morning, so unless I have things premade, it doesn't work out. One breakfast that does take a bit of cooking that I found really good was flourless pancakes: four eggs and half a brick of cream cheese blended together for the batter. I added vanilla and cinnamon. It ended up tasting a lot like French toast. I just ate it plain, but served it to my husband with powdered sugar and syrup (I don't even like syrup on my French toast anyway).
GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why? Winter Solstice, because it means the start of cooler weather
I just got blown put of the water everyone else sees there drs twice a month I get to see mine twice a week. Feel like the GD poster child of his office.
@Mintz1982 I don't actually see my dr. I just email the paper every Monday and they call and comment or tell me to come in. I don't really like them though, not friendly at all!
@Mintz1982 I've only had two appointments with the nutritionist and I have one next week with MFP to discuss the possibility of insulin. Maybe I should be worried I don't see them enough, but I'm glad because that's less work I have to take time off for.
@Mintz1982 Don't feel bad. I've been seeing my MFM once a week since one month after being diagnosed and not long after I started seeing my OBGYN once a week. So I'm also seeing someone twice a week. For me it's every Tuesday and Thursday. How were numbers this past week?
Better than they had been. My highest fasting has been 122, which is really good for me and I've had most in the 90s and 2 under 90. The funny thing is that I was bad yesterday and had real ice cream for my bedtime snack to take with my insulin. It was 3 carb exchanges, normally I have a 1 cab exchange snack, and my blood sugar was 77 this morning. Crazy stuff.

GTKY - What is your favorite holiday and why?
Thanksgiving. I love hanging out with family with no real pressure. We just enjoy each other's company and the food. I also usually make the dessert, which is something I love. We also plan our black friday shopping trips. This has been less so since they started moving it to Thanksgiving. I won't sacrifice time with my family for a deal. Still fun to get out there and see what they have. I think it may change to Christmas once Felicity is here though, we'll see.

No I email my dietician every week I never see her she's like an email buddy lol. This is my Dr the one who's going to deliver the giant baby inside he went from once a month to every week for 2 weeks and now twice a week. I don't wanna see his bitch ass receptionist that often. He's awesome but I wantto tell her off most days
