September FET Buddies!

edited August 2016 in Infertility
I used to see these threads awhile back on this forum but haven't seen them in awhile and thought I would start one for the upcoming month.  Anyone else doing an FET in September?  The IVF threads can get pretty long and difficult to keep up with!

A little about me: This is our first IVF after 3 failed IUIs.  MFI diagnosis and SA's have been all over the place over the course of the last year.  I have never had a positive pregnancy test.  Everything is in my siggy, but to summarize I had my egg retrieval in July and did a freeze all so we could do PGS testing (my RE's standard protocol).  We ended up with 7 PGS normal embabies, 3 girls and 4 boys.  We plan to transfer 1 girl embryo on September 16th!  We are officially less than 3 weeks away now and I'm getting excited.  I just started taking Estrace pills today!  Trying to will my lining to get nice and thick :)

Re: September FET Buddies!

  • Good luck @wifeinraleigh28! I've been lurking the IVF threads as I know it's in my future, just not sure when we will be able to start. So I'll be following y'alls thread for info and hopefully to read lots of BFPs from y'all.
  • hi @wifeinraleigh28 im hopefully in here for a FET probably late September :)

i am on my second FET, First fresh transfer was BFN, first FET was CP so fx this one will be stickier, we plan on transfering our last two frosties.  I would love twins, DH not so much but he is letting me take the lead on this.  so for now just waiting on hopefully a short wait for insurance before we start estrace 3x daily.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I'm so glad you made this thread! I was feeling out of place in the ivf ones and they get so long. It's looking like my second FET will be sometime the week of Sept 12.
  • Hey Sep FET crew!  Question for those of you already starting your protocol for the cycle.  Do you feel kind of crappy?  I vividly remember not feeling so hot for my first FET and thinking it might have been a coincidence and I have a bug.  Now for this FET I'm feeling like crap again and starting to wonder if it isn't so much a coincidence and more side effects of the patch and tablets.  My specialist's nurse did say my complaints could be associated, but maybe I had a virus (loss of appetite, slight GI discomfort/unease, some minor cramping, etc).  Any of you feel this way?  Blah... the stuff we do for that BFP!
  • Some of you know about me and my organization!  So here's our little tracker:

@Elyse1384 Welcome!  Is this your first FET?  How long ago did you do your retrieval?  I love what you said about joining the June BMB group!  I think I'll be willing all of us to become new members of that group!!

@LeFemmeViolette I'm glad you have an option of switching insurances!!  I think our FETs are only 30 minutes apart on the 16th, but I could be incorrect about that :)

@mjacks16 Welcome and I hope that this 2nd FET is the one for you!!  I see from your siggy that you did PGS testing.  FX for you! :)

AFM, I've been taking estrace 3x/day for a few days now and so far I don't feel any symptoms.  Going on Friday for my first scan!

@Elyse1384 I think I was in the middle of drafting my post so I didn't see your latest comment before I hit submit!  I'm guessing this is your 2nd FET then.  It's funny you mention not feeling well because I have felt a little under the weather this weekend, but didn't really think much of it.  I'm feeling better today though, so I didn't think it could be from the estrace.  I'll keep tabs on it and let you know if I start feeling crummy!  I'm sorry you're not feeling well :(

  • I am not sure I can jump in here!  My FET is anticipated for this Thursday, September 1 so I just eek into this category.  I just took my first dose of Medrol and nearly gagged.  I wasn't expecting it to taste so utterly nasty.  If you end up with it in your protocol, consider yourself warned!

Throughout my three weeks of meds, I can say I have been pretty darn moody and mostly crabby this last week.
    Me: 41  DH: 44  DD: 9

    FET 2: 11/15/16 transferred 1 CP again!
    FET 3: TBD

  • @bells52000 Yes, of course you can jump in!  Just added you to our tracker :)  I'm sorry you're feeling all moody.  Medrol/methylpredisolone is also part of my protocol to start when I start PIO, but my prescription is a pill.  I'm sorry it tastes so bad!

  • I'm jumping in here! I'll be doing my second FET *hopefully* on 09/12. FX that my lining responds to the switch in protocol.

@Elyse1384, I started my meds (patch and estrace vaginally) on Friday and felt "off" all weekend, just extra tired, slight headache, and almost like I do right before I get the flu, kind of achy and  just not feeling the best. I read that it can be a side effect of the patches, so hopefully that means it's working!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 - hey! I remember you from the June/July thread, keeping us all organized. Too bad we're both back at it, but it looks like I'm in good company! Oh no way @mtpbadger is here too! Didn't you have lining problems? How is that going?

@bells52000 - the first time I took medrol, I thought I ingested poison lol

afm, lining ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday (31st). Then we'll see where we go from there.
  • Hey, quick question. Can you guys see my profile pic easily? I'm always on my phone, so you can't see it at all. My pic could be a trigger for other ladies here, so I'll change it if it's noticeable
  • Also - did you guys catch the post about the distraught woman who miscarried? Holy drama!!

@FatPony Glad to see your face on this thread!  Yes, I am still trying to get KU.  It has been one delay after another for me.  September is finally the month!!  (hopefully will result in BFP for us both!)  I can see your profile picture but it doesn't trigger me :)  Can't speak for anyone else though!  And yes, I read that thread.  I hope that she isn't a real person.

@mtpbadger FX for thick, thick lining this time around!!  When do you go in for a check?

  • hi @wifeinraleigh28 - 2nd FET for me (full ER and FET details below in the "TW section").  Sooooo much easier than the fresh cycle stims.

@mtpbadger - I'm sorry you're feeling cruddy too, but good to know I'm not alone!  I'm 2 for 2 with this feeling from what I assume could be the meds.

@bells52000 good luck with your fast approaching FET!!

    *tw* prior pregnancies mentioned
After 3 years of trying, we had luck with our first IVF cycle in 2013.  I had ER in June '13 and did a fresh cycle at that time.  I did my first FET from our leftover embryos in Feb '15.  The embryo from that cycle and this upcoming cycle are from that June '13 ER batch.  FX for all on FET this month!

    Endometrial biopsy 10/18/16: normal result

FET #2  1/3/17: natural cycle, BFP!!! TWINS!!  EDD: 9/21 (8/31 with twin adjustment)

  • I hate that there are so many familiar faces here!! I have a good feeling about Sept though!

Lining check will be 9/7 - I'm trying not to think about it and just go with the flow this round. I have to say this patch is MUCH better than the del estrogen injections so far. I'm really liking this no shots thing so far although I would be very happy to start PIO on the 7th per my schedule!
  • Sitting on a heating pad as I type. @wifeinraleigh28 I take the pill form of medrol...there is nocoating.  As @FatPony said, it truly tasted like poison. I swore I wouldn't take it tomorrow, but I know I will think better of it tomorrow and just suck it up.

The pio shots aren't that bad.  I already am bruised up, but so far so good.  Excited to be part of this mini board!  oh! And I can see your pic Fatpony but I don't mind stuff like that.

  • Hi all! I'm onto my first FET this month which I think will be an about a week and a half! I did one fresh transfer this month BFN, and now rolling the dice again! I have 3 frozen embryos left... I love that lots of people know the gender of there little embys. I'm in Aus and there are regulations on anything involving gender!
  • Lurking- I miss you all so much and will be checking here and on the beta boards to see good news from you.  @wifeinraleigh28 I'm glad to see your update.  Remain positive and hopeful!

@wifeinraleigh28 - Yes, #3!  It took 3 years, but we seem to have found the "secret sauce" for how my body responds.  We transferred 2 with the fresh cycle in June '13.  One took (a DS) and then the following year we transferred 1 embryo from the frozen batch (a DD).  We have been very VERY blessed. At this point I can't complain no matter the outcome.  I'll take what I can, but I'm really pulling for all of you!  I know it is so easy to get frustrated and down on yourself (I was in that horrible spot for 3 years wondering if we would have LOs), but you are all stronger than you realize and you can do this.  Sometimes it comes in ways you might not expected.

That said, here is to a group trip to J17 BMB!!!!!  We got this ladies.  I have heard from more than one person at my specialist's office that FETs can be just what our bodies need compared to those crazy stim protocols for ER.  I hope this ends up being the case for all here.  Lets go little frosties.

Hi ladies! I hope you'll allow me to join the group! I'll hopefully be doing my first FET in September, my cycle got cancelled last month due to a thin lining that would not budge over 6.5!

I did a fresh IVF in April 2014 and now have a 19 month old daughter!

Just finished my provera so hoping AF shows soon so I can start my new protocol, with patches. Hoping to hear exciting news from you all in the coming weeks!!

  • @ltlavac welcome!! Hopefully your lining does better this cycle! I've had lining issues in the past as well and my RE has me doing patches this FET, which I started last Friday.

Man, it's so hard not to get excited with @wifeinraleigh28 updating the tracker for everyone. After my cp in July, I have had not one ounce of excitement. But after peeking at the tracker, whew, can't wait for September!!

September is my favourite month, so I am determined to enjoy it, BFP or not
  • I'm added to the list but I didn't give much of an intro for  those who don't know me yet! I had a fresh transfer in August that ended in a CP.  This will be my first FET and we are transferring a 5AA PGS tested boy.

Ive started on oral estrace and will be starting on PIO and also progesterone suppositories pretty soon.  I just received all my meds in the mail- those PIO needles are terrifying!!!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 gender selection isn't available here.. And there is no way they will let you know the sex of any of the embryos. They are considering passing a law that gender selection will be made available to couples who have two children of the same sex! But you have to get two children first though, Ha! It's all a bit silly.
  • @ltlavac I bet you are extremely exhausted from carrying that baby for 124 weeks  hehehe guess you never updated the tracker from your daughter.

anyways.... welcome also welcome to everyone else, hope all of the recent CPs means we are on our way to the real thing :)

  • @APM_SLP I know-those needles look mighty long... Good thing I won't be doing them! Or seeing them go in, for that matter.

Had to go to a baby shower/luncheon for a co-worker today. I'd ducked out of enough of them that I felt like I had to finally go to one. It went okay. But then we also had a consultant come in for some training at work today and at one point he just casually mentioned how he had five kids. I think I actually rolled my eyes. Hopefully no one saw. But really... FIVE??? Good lord.

I'm also struggling with this stupid insurance dilemma. Since we only got one embryo out of my retrieval, I want to have a real plan in place in case it doesn't stick. We've exhausted DH's insurance with the first round of IVF so I've called my company's insurance AND our doctor's financial dept to find out exactly what's covered and I CANNOT seem to get a straight answer.

In an interesting turn of events, I actually ran into the gal who is the head of HR for my company at my clinic so we've been sharing our stories. She's given me some info about our insurance already, but I'm thinking about asking her to hop on a call with me with our clinic to find out how our company's plan stacks up. Hopefully she'll be on board.

Yes I would love to know the regulations too.  I heard many countries do not let you select the gender...I find out tomorrow if we are allowed to select ours.  My hubby really wants a girl.  The girl is rated 5ab and the boy 5aa. I am thinking that is so close they will let us pick.

Aack sorry. I missed a bunch of posts and now I see it...crazy how different everyplace is.  But I guess it would be boring otherwise!

    happy to see everyone here!

  • @bells5200 only one more day! Will you test at all before your beta?

Anyone else getting their butt kicked by their meds? I am just SO exhausted since staring estrogen patches. With the other meds I've been on, I'm usually a little bit more tired but I am just completely wiped! I am not a napper and I've found myself taking a little cat nap when I get home from work before starting dinner.
