Re: Symptoms 8/16

  • @dmontgo YES. Not all day every day, but certainly enough to be a royal pain. Literally. I can't seem to find a way to improve it either. We have an excellent (read expensive) mattress, so it's not that. I sit on a pillow at work so there's that attempt. Standing HELPS but doesn't totally take it away. I feel you girl. Butt pain unite!

  • @swhiddon33 Bleh. Same here, we have a great mattress. I'm not sure what's causing it. Obviously it's baby related, but not sure why I have tailbone pain but no pelvic pain? Weird. :[
  • Does anyone have hands, fingers and feet swelling? I know this is a normal pregnancy symptom but because I had pre-e with my daughter and looked like a umpa loompa (the 1970's Gene Wilder version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory--not the cool Johnny Depp version) because I was so swollen, I'm afraid it's happening again.

My feet are already swollen (I can still wear my shoes) but I'm not sure how much swelling is okay before I need to call my OB.  Does anyone else have this?

I also had pre-e with my first, and looked just like you described! My mom started cry when she saw how swollen I was the day I got induced.
Anywho, yes, my feet, hands and fingers randomly swell. They seem to do it more if I haven't gotten enough rest, water, or when I eat at a restaurant. Or drive for 3 hrs to visit the in laws on the other side of the cascade mountains. Or sit for too long. Pretty much if I do anything other than lie down. Swelling, here we come...

  • @swhiddon33 @dmontgo Ugh! Yes I've had the tailbone pain too! It's mostly just a general soreness, but will get worse when I have especially bad RLP (probably when he has a growth spurt).  My doc thinks it's probably my hips starting to spread which is putting weird pressure on it, and recommended getting a maternity band to help support my hips.  It definitely seems to help a bit.  That and just trying to not stay in the same position for very long.
  • @Fauxpa now, a maternity band sounds like a good idea. Where does one start?

  • @swhiddon33 I bought this one off of amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Bracoo-Breathable-Maternity-Back-Support/dp/B009LA4VOG/ref=sr_1_10_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1472080208&sr=8-10&keywords=maternity+band

and then I just wear it lower so it's more of a hip support. Although there are a ton with really good reviews on others on there as well.

  • @dmontgo - if I sleep a certain way, I get tailbone pain.  It seems to be if I sleep half on my back/half on my side (like, I have a body pillow and I'm lying on my back but one side is on the body pillow and the other side isn't, so I'm sort of leaning to one side).  Not sure if that's relevant to you or not, but thought I would mention it...
  • @phoebecar FTM but I'm already having periodic swelling in my hands and feet. Especially after walking.
  • I've had more swelling than usual this week but I'm also trekking across campus to and from class all day. I'm trying to up my water intake to counteract it, hopefully it doesn't get too much worse.
  • Lots of hand swelling (and no pre-e last time here). Mine seems to be fluctuating with the humidity? Is the worst in the morning for me....no idea what it means

  • My hips feel like they're just going to fall right open, with my torso falling right through my legs to the ground.

Lower back hurts, especially after standing all day (elementary school teacher here...)

    Otherwise, pretty good!
  • Haaaay calf cramp, you overnight naughty b!+€# you. *cries*

  • This is the first time I've had swelling in my feet/ankles and I'm not a fan.

My pelvic bone feels like it's going to crack in half.

I'm so tired but I can't get comfortable or sleep.

  • For the ladies with tailbone pain, I figured out what it is--sciatica. Before pregnancy, my sciatica presented in my right leg and was very painful...apparently because the uterus pushes against the spine in the pelvis as baby grows, it's pressing that cluster of nerves. So it can present itself as different ways in your lower body. So now my leg not only blows up, but my tailbone hurts too.

Talked with my on-call doctor and that's what he told me. I've been going to the chiropractor, but the best way to get rid of it...is to have the baby! Wow, how helpful. :P
  • I've been having tailbone pain, but only after sitting for a while in hard chairs (like metal or wood).  Never had a problem before, but now it hurts to stand up after a meal at a restaurant if they don't have cushy chairs.  I'm halfway considering carrying one of those doughnut cushions with me when I go out...
  • @thedaint87 I got one too and I have to say--it really has helped. Still hurts me when I walk (feels like my hips are crooked?) but now I can sit way more comfortably.
  • My OB was telling me yesterday about the nerves that run down the rear part of the pelvis and wrap around the front to deep within the vagina.  Suggested the easiest stretch in the world - sit in a chair, cross one leg over the other at knee and lean forward to stretch glute, but turn same shoulder as side you're stretching towards the ground (so that you're twisting into the stretch).

I'm sure not all of our pain is from the same thing, or in the same place but this one has helped me tremendously in the past 24 hours.  Worth a shot!

  • So I haven't really been swelling at all, but I feel like I'm denting really easy. Like when you get an imprint from pressing on something too hard or too long. But it happens really quickly or when things are barely touching me. And sticks around for a while. I normally can't see every stitch of my office chair on my leg in 2 minutes.  Has anyone else experienced this? I know pitting can go hand in hand with swelling, but I didn't know it could happen without any swelling?

PS Excuse the blinding white leg. It's too humid to be in the sun  :/

  • @tinattt23 that has definitely happened to me. I wore ankle socks for like 15 minutes this morning to keep my feet warm before putting on heels, and the imprint of the top of the socks around my ankle was there for like an hour. I also crossed my legs once for about 3-4 minutes, and the side of my leg had a huge dent in it from where I was resting it on top of my thigh. THAT was freaky.
  • My blood vessels in my nose have started to bust, pop, whatever you want to call it super easily. I went to see my ENT today because I've had a lot of nose bleeds over the past few days. She cauterized the inside of my nose, but said it may take a few times of doing it to get the bleeding to completely stop. Of course the bleeds started back tonight. Looks like it's back to the ENT for me tomorrow.
  • @Mamax2 DUDE that SUCKS. I know that feeling (the cauterization). It's not fun. I hope this issue resolves soon. What a nasty side effect!!

  • @mamax2 Oh no! I had nosebleeds throughout first tri, I know they're no fun :(
  • This might be TMI...

I have so much discharge throughout the day that it is bothering my labia. Like, sometimes I get a little bleedy from the rubbing if I wear pants and have a heavy discharge day. Doc said epsom salts so I am gonna try that this weekend and hope it goes away.

I second the calf cramps @swhiddon33 I get them in the middle of the night and its all i can do to not yell out.

I am also getting super full easy. Like right now I don't even want to eat dinner but if I don't have SOMETHING then I will not feel well in the morning. It's a nice change from a week ago when I was binge eating donuts and smoothies lol.
  • Thanks @ashleaf2018 and @swhiddon33. I haven't had as many today since the 2nd round of getting them cauterized.

Also, for those of your with calf cramps, as your OB abouy magnesium pills. I had horrible calf cramps, talked to OB. They put me on 800mg of magnesium pills a day, and I've only had 1 or 2 since.
  • I am officially joining the calf cramp camp. Woke up last night saying "owww owww!" And DH woke up in a panic all "what's wrong?!?" And so half asleep me is like "my leg! My leg!" And groggy DH proceeds to grab my leg (wtf DH?!) which it was then very hard for me not to cry and/or punch him.
He was back asleep 2 minutes later while I was miserable.
Coworker said eating bananas before bed may help, but could be old wives tale. We shall see...

  • @BabyRobbinsAdventure: I eat a banana almost every day to help prevent leg craps. It seems to help me. Apparently it is the potassium in the bananas that helps.

Yes to calf cramps ugh! Mostly at night so I'm trying to consume more water before bed which makes for a delightful increase in bathroom visits.

For the STMs out there I'm experience a new symptom this time around and its of an intimate nature so sorry if it's TMI.

It's weird but it seems like my uterus is sitting lower this time around. With my first pregnancy I enjoyed sex right up to delivery, something about the increased blood flow down there got me all hot and bothered.  However with this pregnancy it's been much more uncomfortable, like my birth canal has been shortened. It's frustrating because I'm just as horny but really can't enjoy it the same way.

    Is it December yet?

Oops, should put this in the new thread. I'll repost.

    TMI warning:
I was the same with my 1st and 2nd pregnancies. 1st one, I loved having sex still. 2nd one, it just didn't fee as good as usual and my bump was way lower too. but we switched to just doggy from 4 months on with my 2nd and I'm wondering if that had something to do with it.
I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and I am loving it, when it's not doggy. I'm not sure what it is, usually that's my favorite, but with this pregnancy it's not at all. Laying on my side is the best, I'm too big to do much more than those 2 positions though!

  • @dmontg I had AWFUL tailbone issues with my first pregnancy. If I would sit on a hard surface, or sit in general, and then stand up, I got sharp, shooting pains from my tailbone that would radiate down my legs and up my back. I happened constantly around this time, and it hurt so much. It felt like my tailbone was actually shifting. It's happened a few times this pregnancy but not to the degree it did last time. I would be in tears every time it happened. Sitting on a big physio ball helped and so did hip exercises to stretch your lower back muscles and your hips. My husband is a PT and recommended them for me.

Sciatica can suck it, these red dots on my chest and shoulders that look like fire works can suck it, and constipation can gtfo of my life.

  • I go through spurts where I pee constantly...like 5 times in an hour, and then it'll go back to regular, despite always drinking pretty much the same amount. So annoying.

Saturday I worked non stop (like yard work, cleaning, help build a dresser) from 7 am to 8 pm and I was done. We were walking around Best Buy and I told DH I was just gonna sit in the car. My whole body just ached, and I was exhausted. I've never felt so pregnant in my whole life.

Same! I wonder if it has something to do with the kid putting more pressure on my bladder during the frequent pee hours than during the rest of the day? It's SUPER annoying! I'll pee, and then like 10 minutes later, I'll feel like I have to go again. This was especially panic inducing when I started my dogs on a 4 mile walk the other day, but then I told myself that I didn't really have to go. Mind over matter. ;)
