Re: Moms who bump in the night

  • @jkershaw2013 Have you thought about getting the Milkies Milk Saver or taking a small baby bottle to collect and save that milk?

I did did the hand towel against the free boob with my first but this time I am collecting the extra milk.

  • Well, LO has decided to sleep at night (hooray!) But my body has decided I don't get to. Hello insomnia, hello sunrise.
  • I'll ask on symptoms too, but did anyone's labour start with really bad lower back pain?

I had back labour with DD, but I was induced, so I can't tell if this is it!  The back pain woke me up and is keeping me awake, and is accompanied by belly tightening and nausea.

  • I would say it could be. I had back labor with DS and the back pain is what woke me up. I would time the back pain.

So, our pediatrician has us feeding Colin every 2 hours, since he was a little jaundiced. However, he was sleeping 3.5-4 hours at a time before.  Now, we barely get to the 2 hour mark between night time feedings. It's frustrating,  and i feel like waking him so often for the past week has destroyed his sleep schedule.  He just woke up, nursed for 8 minutes, and is back to sleep! But of course when I try to put him in his bed, he'll wake up and fuss again because he's still hungry. This momma is just frustrated and exhausted.

@Fremdschamen. I went in to Labor and Delivery for high blood pressure and just feeling overall crappy the day I had my c-section. They asked if my back had been hurting and it had. Turns out I was in back labor. I just thought "I'm pregnant, ofcourse my back hurts"

    good luck!!

@jkershaw2013 yay for DD sleeping 5 hours straight! The 1st time DS slept that long I woke up in a panic too.

  • Must have hit a growth spurt. LO has nursed every 2 hours all day yesterday and didn't cut me a break at all, keeping this up all night. I'm exhausted.

  • Oh...em...gee. Do babies just grow up to outsmart you? Ha. Baby A now knows the difference between bottle feeding and nipple or rather, the taste of formula vs. breastmilk.

Halfway at bottle feeding, she sticks her tongue out and doesn't take the bottle anymore. Initially I thought she was done but at 2 oz? False.

She fusses til she gets the nip. FML. I mean, I'm glad she likes my breastmilk but...ah, FML.
  • @AliKay20 DD is the same way. No nipple confusion here!

  • Must be at a growth spurt. It's after 3am and I've gotten maybe 30 min of sleep. But don't worry my only plan for tomorrow is to host 16 family members for DS1's birthday in 8 hours. And I still have to make icing and decorate his cake, and set everything up outside.
  • I don't think DD is going thru a growth spurt, but from 2-315 she had hiccups twice and was wide awake. Now she is awake at 4 am. Just nursed and gave her a new diaper so I hope that buys 2 more hours for sleep.

@Curls919 I hope LO will finally give you some sleep and GL on the birthday party!

@Curls919 I agree... Makes me realize why so man6 people do this much younger than we are. My early 20s? Sleep was optional, and I functioned just fine. Now.... Zombie

    Stuck I'm a box...

I agree I have been thinking this would have been easier on my 20s, or even early 30s, but then I remind myself it wouldn't be this baby do it has to be right.
  • @liljabee and it wouldn't have been with my husband... So worth it. Doesn't mean I can't wish for my 20 something stamina NOW

  • I have been recording all feedings into the Baby Nursing app and for the past 2 days DD has fed for 12 feedings. As of 1 am today we are working on our 6th feeding.  :|

  • I knew I was in for it at 4:30 when DD woke up and her bright eyes were looking all around. She's changed and fed, but those cute little eyes are still wide open! Oh sleep, I miss you!
  • @lblu43 So sorry you're having a rough night, but your captain's log is cracking me up! Hope you get some sleep soon.

Don't worry, guys. He was asleep by 5am. And slept through 6am. Now that we approach 7am he's obviously starving and acting like he hasn't nursed in days.
  • After a rough night, and very little sleep, I sent DH downstairs with LO at 5:30 so I could get a couple of hours before my in laws come over... Of course DS1 decided to wake up crying a mere 5 minutes after I close my eyes  :'( I bribed him with you tube videos so he would lay quietly in my bed... I got 45min out of that. Now I'm up for the day pumping and dreading the fact that I have to make myself look presentable for guests.

  • "I guess this whole spitting up while my nip is in your mouth is something I may have to get used to, right my child?"

Thank goodness I find her so damn cute.
  • @lblu43  Reading your captains log has made me smile and wanting to keep looking on the bright side that LO will sleep longer than an hour through the night. I fear I am losing it, yesterday I fixed some breakfast and put the whole plate in the cabinet. I didn't realize I didn't until I finished feeding LO and said well I'm hungry too. The most sleep I've gotten was on my birthday Friday, my mother watched LO so I could rest...
But that didn't matter I still got up ever 30 minutes thinking I heard him crying
  • @MrsEWilson  Happy Belated!!! Hang in there.A lot of us are in the same boat. Peanut will be 4wks thurs, & I'm  lucky to get close to a 2 hrs block of sleep at night.  He'll take 1.5-3 hr naps during the day, but usually no more than 1.5 hrs at night. By the time I factor in cleanup & burp, its 30-45 min blocks. Yesterday I could barely pump because he ate so frequently. Lefty n droops power on, and I just get more delirious.
  • So sick of waking up drenched in sweat! It's not even hot in our bedroom.

Me too. It is 70 in our room and I still sweat. I have to shower every morning because I feel so smelly and gross after sleeping.

  • @CaitlinJ22 I thought the same thing when I woke up drenched about an hour ago. Air conditioning has been running all night.

  • A has actually slept decently the last few nights, just waking up to eat at regular intervals. Meanwhile now that I'm getting small stretches of sleep, I can't keep my eyes open while nursing him.
  • @Curls919 I have feeding sessions where I can hardly keep my eyes open too. I have started pushing his night feedings to 2.5 hours if he sleeps that long.  (Which he has so far tonight) That has made a huge difference in your alertness during feedings.  Colin also nurses better,  more efficiently when we nurse a little less frequently.

Its not night, but I wanted to share the above video. May be nice in the MOTN - I just about laughed LO off my boob watching it.
