After I had my daughter I couldn't feel when I needed to pee until I was about to pee my pants. I never actually peed my pants, but it lasted about 2 1/2 years.
I am beyond frustrated today. First of all, I had invited my friend who has a 5 mo to go to a 4H fair around 1130 since my DD naps from 9-11. Well when i woke up from my nap at 1030 she had texted me saying that she already went to the fair and would prob be leaving soon bc her baby wasn't that interested in all the animals. No shit! The whole point of it was to spend some time together while my DD was entertained by something other than me. We ended up going out for lunch and we missed out on the fair. Then on my way home I called La Leche to ask about nursing while pregnant and supply issues and the woman's advice was to wear my daughter in a sling or walk around with her. That wasn't even the point of my question. Thanks for absolutely not listening to me. I'm just super done with people today.
@Partyof6? My understanding is that you can work on it while pregnant and I know Olivia strongly encourages women not to wait until after pregnancy. The group I'm in (run by Olivia) is run through FB and there are 3 new workouts and 1 new yogalates class each month and all of the workouts are noted as being safe while pregnant. With the Yogalates, I've had to do some modifications (like I simply cannot lay on my back and pull my right knee up and across to the my left side), but I haven't had any trouble with the actual workouts. She also offers a pregnancy specific course where for the duration of your pregnancy she periodically provides you with new workouts and includes one on one instruction and video chats. I considered it, but joined her monthly club instead because $15/month was a lot easier to swallow than the full cost of the pregnancy one. I also talked to her before I joined it and she confirmed that all the workouts she would be posting for the monthly club would be pregnancy safe and it was really just a matter of my preference as to which I wanted to do.
A couple of things that I particularly like about her classes is they are almost all 15 minutes long, they're challenging without feeling impossible (and I am not in good shape at all), she includes separate instruction videos to show and explain each exercise including more and less challenging alternatives, and she's very real. She also does free video chats (usually through FB or skype) if you're having trouble with anything or she'll do a consultation with you to address any questions or concerns you have before you sign up for anything (or after you've signed up). I know she has a free 5-day diastasis challenge on her website and she's been posting individual exercises on her instagram account if you want to poke around and see what her stuff is like without actually interacting with her.
@scifichick09 I have a similar thing going on. Super pleasant.
Thankfully I've only had the peeing issue when I've thrown up so far. Although I've also given myself a nose bleed while throwing up, so I think it's just bodily overload somehow.
Hey ladies, on the pee thing. So I went to a pelvic floor physio. Usually they only recommend doing that if you're having incontinence issues after the birth, but a girlfriend of mine in Europe said it was part of her standard prenatal care, and I figured what the hell. The consult was super personal (obviously) but she gave me some really great exercises and I am feeling way more in control of my business down there, which I think is fantastic.
It was like kegels but way more involved, and a bunch of other exercises focused on the extreme bottom abs, which hardly ever get used because other ab muscles take over.
So if you are feeling worried about the pee already, know that there are ways. It's not a lost cause. Just a very... personal physio appointment.
Has anyone started to have problems with sciatica yet? I'm shocked that I'm feeling it this early, especially since I'm not showing AT ALL and I haven't experienced any weight gain yet (although, to be fair, my regular pants do not in any way fit, and my bras have gone up two cup sizes). I'm 14+3 today. Baby measured almost a week ahead at 12+5, but who knows where we are at this point. I'm a medium-sized human (usually about a size 8) and a FTM, so I didn't expect to show at this point anyway, but I'm shocked to be experiencing such aggressive pain in the actual butt this early.
Anyway, I have all kinds of questions about sciatica. Namely, is it going to get a lot worse? And what can I do to help it? I made my husband massage my glutes a bunch last night, and I foam rolled and sat in pigeon pose for like half an hour, and it feels a little bit better today. Any advice would be much appreciated!
@NiceyMeany I was having problems with scatica and it was being exacerbated by constipation. so walking and tons of water, plus I switched to a low iron prenatal. But I brought it up to my midwife and she recommended a chiropractor if it continues.
@NiceyMeany I had it, it started once I started gaining weight and I had really bad short spurts of it throughout my pregnancy but it wasn't bad the whole time. I just looked it up briefly and the info says the same thing, can be infrequent and irritating to constant and incapacitating. I usually lay on my back with ice but mostly just wait for it to subside.
The fact that you're uterus has grown may be pushing on things that could cause the pinched nerve even though you haven't gained yet? That's just a random guess by a layperson. Hope it feels better soon! We can commiserate together I'm sure, when I get it I cannot walk for short amounts of time.
I've started having back pain, but not sciatica though. Thank God! But even still the back pain is annoying. I've been using my Leachco pillow which has been a savior. I'm so glad I didn't put off buying it. Last week, I was at my sister's house and I took a nap on her bed and of course didn't have my pillow with me. I woke up with a very sore back. And doing simple things like washing dishes, driving, and going for a walk are a pain already. I have to remind myself to stop and take lots of breaks which I'm not used to at all.
@AfKash - it is related to pregnancy. My allergies are worse, and my skin is so much more sensitive. I have just been using cool water to sooth the itching, oatmeal bath, and lotion to moisturize, but that is about it. I see the Dr tomorrow so I am going to see if maybe I should be using a particular ointment.
Ive also been having some major sciatica pain the last few days. I haven't gained any weight at all (I've lost 10lbs), but the pain is unreal. Would icing it help?
@imalwaysme79 I've read during pregnancy to alternate between warm compresses and ice. I usually ice and don't move for awhile.
I just sat with ice on it for about 20 minutes. I haven't gotten up yet to see if it feels any better though. Today has been pretty rough all around
I haven't gained weight either but ice and a warm bath helps me. I've found some links to yoga poses and stretches that are supposed to help but idk if they are safe for pregnancy. Anyone know?
@imalwaysme79 lie down too! itll take pressure off... sorry you're not having a good day. I know sciatic pain can be so rough on top of being pregnant and tired and all of that.
For the sciatica I've had, I ice right before bed, sleep on the side that doesn't hurt, and sleep with a pillow between my legs to properly align my hips. Hope you get relief soon...It ain't fun!
Those that are into the second tri, do you still have a lack of appetite? I pretty much have zero desire to eat anything.
I'm the same way at 15 weeks. I have to force myself to eat. I don't feel sick, I just don't feel hungry either.
I wanted to eat everything in the 1st trimester. Ever since about 14 weeks, suddenly I've got no appetite. I feel like I force my self to eat too, because I know I should!
2. Heartburn started last night. I haven't slept since before I was pregnant. Lately it's because my lower abdomen and sides of my abdomen ache SO much. I had severe ovarian hyperstimulation in the beginning of my pregnancy and I wonder if it's my uterus pushing in my still huge ovaries. Or perhaps round ligament pain? I toss from side to side all night long.
Any expierenced mamas have any advice?

I woke up with postnatal drip, a sore throat, and a stuffy nose. Bahhh. I really hope I'm not getting sick AGAIN.
