Counsyl results are back: They emailed me saying the results were ready. I had the blood drawn last Tuesday and found out online today (Monday), a total of 6 days including the weekend. All looked normal and we are having a boy.
Ok, I just finally got a call back saying that everything in my Maternit21 test came back negative. And, when I asked to clarify that it was everything, the person said correct but this doesn't test for DS. Now I am completely confused. I thought that was the thing this test was best at (least false positives, etc.). I'm going to call back in the morning to get clarification (when I'm not at work). I went from super happy to feeling like I still have something to worry about... sigh.
Maternit21 DEFINITELY tests for Down syndrome.. Either the person was looking at a different test, or they have no idea what they're talking about. Definitely call back!
@ah23 - I called back and got their voicemail (at 4:03, despite hours being listed as 4:30). The only reason I asked if "everything" was negative was because I also got the test for CF. So frustrating! Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
I got the results of our scan today, I can't remember which one it was though, crap I should call them tomorrow. Anyway, everything came back negative and we found out we're having a BOY!
Finally got my call back. Everything came back negative! I had to stay in the conference room for awhile and gather myself because I started crying once I heard. I'll gladly take all the happy tears. Now we finally feel like we can start sharing the news.
Also, every time I talk with someone from the doctor's office, they ask if I want to know the sex. NO!!! Do not tempt me because my will is only so strong.
I took the Maternity21 test August 18th! The wait for results is torture. My midwife said 10 business days, I hope it is sooner!!!!!
@MLRocha It's so awesome you are waiting to find out the sex, I could never do that but wish I could because it would be so fun. I am too much of a planner though lol.

I just received some conflicting and concerning news from my doctor. My first trimester screen came back with a (slightly?) elevated risk for Down Syndrome. She said based on my age alone, my risk is 1/250 or 1/300, but my risk based on first tri screen is 1/130. The NT scan came back totally normal with the neck fold and nasal bone. I also had elected to get the Panorama test done. That came back totally normal. My doctor said the Panorama is the much better test, a lot more reliable than the first tri screen. I have to decide whether or not I want an amnio based on this information. She recommended against it because of the small risks associated with it. I'd love to hear any similar experiences or thoughts. On the bright side, I found out it's a boy!
It sounds like everything is mostly likely OK but I think whether to get the amnio is a personal decision and depends in large part on whether you would really like 100% certainty.
And also - congrats on the (seemingly) good news and on the baby boy!

Agree with the pp that it is very much a personal decision. My friend had the exact same situation, decided against the amnio and all turned out beautifully. I, too, have heard the Panaroma is a better, more accurate test. I think it comes down to whether your mind would be put more at ease with the amnio, or if you're okay without it. All the best to you!
For DS, panorama is a very good test. The negative predictive value is >99%, meaning the chance of you having a negative test but the baby really has the condition is less than 1%. I personally would not do the amnio, but if knowing this information would potentially affect your decision on whether or not to terminate, it may be better for you to know for sure as soon as possible. With that being said, very small chance your baby will have DS, but still a possibility. Good luck with whatever you choose!
@laurenmichael725 I would not choose the amnio in your situation because those odds don't sound incredibly high for me. I am not against having an amnio when the chances are really high for serious issues, I think being prepared is incredibly important.
I would not relate the decision to have an amnio to whether or not a person would terminate.
