The first thing that comes to mind is the female wrestler that used to be on WWE (WWF at the time).

LOL to me Sadie is more of a pets name. Its weird to me that people typically think opposite. I like Mabel, but whenever I bring it up DH sings "maybe its maybelline"

Fwiw, since I'm a lurking lurker who also reads name posts on the BMBs, Sable isn't an x-men or a mutant, but is a human mercenary that exists in the Marvel universe.

Isn't a sable like a weasel? I don't personally think that's a great reference for a kid, boy or girl. Lots of unfortunate nickname possibilities there.

How about Sabrina? Or Sabra? Sabra is iffy about how legitimate of a name it is, but there was a dancer on So You Think You Can Dance named Sabra and I thought it was so pretty. It might raise fewer eyebrows than Sable.

I actually kind of like it. I know Sadie and Mabel get more love, but Sable seems to fit in with those.

All I think of is the Seinfeld episode with George's sable hat, and the replacement (for which Eileen's job hinges on) is a rat hat.

As a name, nms, but I don't really have an opinion, except I can't stop saying "it's a rat hat" now.

I like the sound of it a lot. I hadn't heard of the car, weasel, etc. though so hearing those it seems like a name to avoid. What about Satchel, Sidra, Sage, Sasha, Sorrel, Sia, Sarah, Sabra & Sybil as PP have suggested? Love those soft S names...good luck.
