@Curls919 ugh hiccups are the worst! They were so cute when DS got them in the womb, but now he still gets them all the time, and they always wake him up!
I miss sleep. A lot. And I feel like I won't sleep through the night again for the next 20 years or so. I at least get to look forward to no peeing a ridiculous amount of times during the night in the near future. Even with me cutting liquids to a minimum a couple hours before bed, I'm still getting up every 1.5-2 hours to pee. Fun stuff.
@ShanRum3 I totally believe in shifts. I never even have to ask because DH is so willing to do whatever. Unfortunately I have the boobs so for the next little bit, I'm on call.
@justaudrey, my hubby is a night owl, so he usually takes the first few hours of the night, except feeding, then after 2 or 3, when he goes to sleep, I take over. At least that's what we did with DS1 and DS2, so I would imagine that's how we'll do it with DS3. It's so wonderful to have a loving supportive husband who helps out with the kids.
@MamaKSquared I miss sleep too. If I had five hours of sleep, I would feel like a million bucks.
@ShanRum3@justaudrey we have done shifts the last two night too and it seems to work. Even with pumping 4.5ish ounces for DH to feed DD, I only got about 2.5-3 hours of sleep. This kid nurses every hour to two. I wish DH had some backup boobs.

@midwestbaby, I hope you get more sleep soon! I know I don't function well on little sleep, but for the last 2 weeks I haven't slept much anyways. I think my body is trying to get prepared.

I was convinced my last few weeks before I gave birth that pregnancy insomnia was prepping me for a newborn. I think it definitely helped transition to the no sleep schedule of a newborn.

Why can't men produce milk? I legit asked DH this last night. It would make our lives so much easier!!
Also I am so over this heat. I keep picturing Fall to get here soon. I want to enjoy some nice cool walks with baby...you know, in my yoga pants and a tall PSL in hand.
Finally put baby down in her crib but she was semi-awake so here I am...with the blow dryer on (works best; she wants the real deal...). I'm just staring at her as she drifts off to sleep afraid she'll wake up again if I turn this off.
Baby is all around very calm and agreeable but, man, getting her back to sleep after night feedings is killing me. I can't rock her to sleep for too long because I'm rocking myself to sleep. Now she's in the rock n play with the white noise machine and I'm sitting, watching her and willing her to sleep. At least she isn't screaming. Eyes are wide open and as DH jokes, "Not sleepy. Not sleepy at all."
Re: convo about feeding coverage at night, I do all of it. At least for now, I can sleep and rest throughout the day while DH is working 12+ hour days. I go back to work in about 5 weeks so hopefully her nighttime schedule is a little more reasonable by then and we can split duties. We've found of us being up and "on" is silly - only one person can tend to her and the other sort of sits around and watches.
My DH will get up when LO starts crying and get her changed while I get myself settled for feeding. Sometimes I'll just change her too and let DH sleep, but we're trying not to let her cry for too long bc we don't want her to wake up DS.
I would have finally gotten a 4 hour stretch of sleep last night, except DS woke me up in the middle of in to cuddle... Hard to be angry when he asks so sweetly, but seriously kid, we all need uninterrupted sleep!

THIS! I'm trying to go on more walks and it's just miserable out. It's officially our hottest summer on record - of course. We have some nice parks around and I would like to go on walks at some of those after baby arrives and I'm feeling up to it, but it's just too hot!
We have a co-sleeper for LO and it is the best thing ever! I can rest my hand on him so he knows I am right there. He has been sleeping for 4 hour stretches at night! The one we use is the Supreme Snuggle Nest by Baby Delight. It has an incline, breathable side air vents, built in night light, a back sleeping positioner, and more. I don't know what I ever did without it.

Hehe it will probably be a while but not 20 years maybe like one!! Hope you are able to get some rest soon though, even if it's just a shorter interval!
LO slept his first stretch from 10:30-2:20 in his RNP! We decided that we at least needed to attempt to have him sleep there so he took most of his naps there yesterday. Big win for us tonight! To
Also in the RnP for FTW camp! Internet high five @Lynnlove28 DD took a few three and four hour naps in there yesterday and we have a nice three hour stretch so far tonight. I'm up for my first feed. Praying this isn't a fluke day.

I held off on changing baby's diaper first before feeding to avoid double changing due to her unfinished business.
She just farted while nursing followed by this warming sensation on my arm that is supporting her butt. I think I'm done nursing her for now. *dash to the changing table* even if it means triple changing #dontcare
I went out to the kitchen to rinse my Milkies when I felt something staring at me (NOT a good feeling at 4 in the morning). I look up and my dog is staring at me from the couch. I walk over to him and find that he has nestled himself quite comfortably in baby A's boppy pillow - the pillow he does not even dare to go near when she's in there during the day.
@AliKay20 hate the double changes! I often will hold off and change between breasts since LO always falls asleep on the first breast. That way she's awake to offer the second. Only like twice a day does she then poop while nursing the second side.
also so what's great is when you're mid change and you and the clean diaper get peed on. I didn't realize girls peed all over just like boys... I thought I'd be safe from the spray this time around!!

So I think I jinxed myself talking about how the RnP worked awesome all yesterday. I nursed DD for 35 minutes and put her back down. 30 minutes later she is up again. So I just nursed her one more time. She is wide awake in her RnP still and im praying she closes those little eyes soon. It's 3am child, your belly is full and diaper is empty.

My little bundle of joy woke up at 4 to eat, and is now just hanging out contentedly in Momma's arms. Once he goes back to sleep, I'm supposed to call the nurse so she can start his 24 hours testing. Hopefully this will jump start the process of us getting home today.

This is DS basically every night. He usually goes down really well after eating around 10/10:30, but after his 2:30ish feeding he takes so long to go down! Sometimes he's gassy and fussy, but mostly he's just wide awake. This morning he was up from 3-5:30...not fun.
A nursed at 10 then woke up just before midnight to nurse (again, just as I was thinking of coming upstairs to go to bed). He's now bounced back and forth between my boobs for the last hour and he's still awake and rooting after every burp. I really hope he falls asleep soon and gives me a nice long stretch of sleep now that we got the ok to go every 4 hours instead of every 3 (he was slow to gain weight but is finally above birthweight).
Our upstairs neighbors keep waking the baby. So over them and their constant noise. I swear they regularly body slam each other to the floor, it is the only rationale explanation.
I've been trying to take care of the last feeding each night on my own (DH gets up for the rest and gets her changed for me). Why is it that he's able to get her changed with no issue, but when I do it she always pees on all of the things in the process? Then I have to try to change her clothes and clean up, and she's already angry cause she wants to eat...
conclusion - DH is better at changing diapers and therefore should just do them all
Levi has been crying every waking moment that he's not eating for the last 3 or 4 hours. I have a feeling I'll be joining you night bumpers tonight
Same here. DH stayed up with DD and gave her a bottle of formula so I could sleep through one feed again. She been awake since 9pm and it's now after 1am. I'm hoping this nursing session makes her sleepy finally

DD has been up and down all night along with LO. I went in there a little bit ago and she had taken her diaper partially off and peed her bed. So we had to change her bedding and change her. She's asleep now and I'm feeding LO. Hopefully I can sleep soon.
@midwestbaby j think I'm going to introduce bottles this week. I need a break. Dh can't do much to help right now, especially since when he's crabby like tyat he will nurse every 45 minutes. Levi did manage to sleep his usual stretch do far, but he woke up with gas, so not sure he will go right back to sleep like usual. I hope so, he really wore me out today... it was so hard to get up and feed him. I don't usually struggle with it. And these last few days levi has been trying to destroy my nipples. He pulls and squirms while nursing, taking my nipple wherever him mouth is. They are so sore now.I really need to figure out where all his gas is coming from. It stole my happy baby and is physically hurting us both
Of course after sleeping all day she's awake tonight!!
Shes napping for for two hour stretches but immediately falls back asleep. We aren't coddling her. This is just on her back in the crib. Or in the RNP in the middle of the living room. Of course she won't sleep like this at night.
@AliKay20 Our LO burps like a full-grown man. There have been multiple times when I'm burping him after a feeding and he burps so loudly that it startles me really bad. It's terrifying that such a deep, loud sound can come from such a teeny creature!?
Also, why does my baby turn into a monster (I say this with love) at night? She cries at like a level 15 (out of 10 being the loudest). During the day, she's such an "easy" baby -- sleeps a lot and only wakes to feed. Pretty uneventful but come 9 or 10 PM, wow it's the complete opposite.
@AliKay20 my LO is the opposite. I guess it's a good thing because I get to sleep, but I get so little done during the day. He only has one or two good hours where I can put him down. But come 11 pm he is out for the night, and only wakes to eat, and goes right back to bed. But I feel you. It's crazy how different they can be
@AliKay20 my LO is an angel by day and a terror by night! Her farts are also unreal! They are so loud and sometime last for 10seconds! DH can hear her fart from 25ft away!! Such a little lady, haha
