My shower BBQ is tomorrow - somehow I thought it was the best idea to have it at my house. I also said I would prep a bunch of stuff, since my mom (who is throwing it) is coming in from out of town and couldn't get here til today...
Well, I've been up late all week "prepping" favors and decorations and food, so I'm tired and cranky. I'm currently still at work, but Mom just arrived at home with a packed car, my yard is full of tables and a tent which my husband (who is also probably getting tired and cranky at this point) gets to put together, I'm sure there is now a TON of stuff unpacked all over my recently cleaned house and I still have a bunch of errands to run.
Oh, and did I mention our toilet is leaking?? 50+ people coming tomorrow and we're possibly looking at everyone having to use the bathroom in our bedroom because the other one won't flush and if it does, it leaks. And, it's supposed to be 90+ degrees tomorrow....
AND, I CANNOT DRINK THROUGH ANY OF THISSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Pray for me.
@LMNOBaby I volunteered to do a lot for my shower too, I spent the entire day and night before shopping and crafting and I totally regret it. Hubby had my car the 2 weeks before so I had to pack everything in in one day. I was exhausted and swollen before the shower started!
Luckily it wasn't at my house, I would have had a breakdown.
@LMNOBaby, you are a saint. Although I would have probably done and volunteered to do the same. I almost did (volunteer the house/deck and to do decor), but DH strictly forbade me.
I will be thinking of you girl. You can get through this! You may need a 2nd cup of coffee though. Reading your post makes ME want a 2nd cup of coffee.
@LMNOBaby Oh girl, I feel for you!! Mine is at my house next weekend & I've spent every night this week trying to get things done around the house. I'll be in full fledged panic mode next week I'm sure. I hope everything goes smoothly and doesn't cause you too much stress!!
My Step-mom, who is not one of the people hosting my shower tomorrow, just texted me a bunch of shower games and said she bought prizes. I told my hosts that I hate shower games, I didn't think to tell anyone else. Now I either have to suffer through them or come across as an ungrateful bitch. So annoyed.

@LMNOBaby Thinking of you!! How did your shower go??
@MRSCORKER can you say something along the lines that the hosts have a pretty tight time line for the shower, so there might not be an opportunity to have games?
@LauraPCOS I'll just suck it up. I don't want my step-mom to feel left out because my bio mom and best friend are the hosts, it's her grandson too and she means well. They looked pretty tame and though I'd rather not play them, I'll suck it up if it makes her happy.

@MRSCORKER I didn't want games either but my hosts picked pretty simple ones so it was t bad at all. As long as there was no wrapping my belly in toilet paper I was ok with it.
When was your shower? The shower was great--- I feel like it absolutely flew by. I didn't even eat because I was busy talking with the guests. I just felt like I had to mingle and make the rounds!
How many people attended? 30 + kids
What did you wear? I wore a mint green dress from Pea in a Pod
Was there a theme? No theme other than "baby boy"
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Everything well well--just very fast and some friends that I work with had to leave early to go to work
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. We only played 2 games so I liked that--otherwise we all just socialized and caught up!
What did you wear? I wore a mint green dress from Pea in a Pod
Was there a theme? it was a co-Ed BBQ
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Everything went so well! I think everyone had a good time, which is one thing I wanted out of the shower
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. The kids I watched in college as well as their mom came to the shower. It's been 7 or 8 years since I've seen them and they're so grown now! The best part of that was hearing the little boy (who was 4 or 5 when I stopped watching him) talk about specific activities I took them to do that he remembered. So great to know you made an impact.
Any pictures you want to share? These are some of my closest friends who were able to make the shower My mom, who was my amazing host DH and I totally forgot to get a pic together, so this is after everything was cleaned up and everyone was gone.... And I got into more comfy clothes lol
Had my shower this Saturday. Theme was sea turtles (that's my nursery theme). Around 35-40 guests. We received nearly everything we need (just need to buy high chair and walker).
@Sprinkels28 and @bnsmith85 you are both adorable! Love you in your dresses and the colours of your showers.
@MKJeffrey2002 gah I can't see your pictures on mobile but I'm sure you look great! From what I can see your colours were orange and green? I love bright colours like that
@SpaceBurger... Right?! It's a new dress she just got and it's kind of amazing and totally matches her personality. Plus she has the perfect shape for it... So that helps
@MKJeffrey2002 cool decorations! You look so happy! What is that blue drink? Makes me want a blue smoothie also that girl is totally rocking the side pony and it is adorable.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was very chaotic in the morning. We were regretting starting at noon because we were NOT ready when people started showing up. Lol. But it ended up being perfect because it rained as soon as we finished opening presents and bringing them in and right when we had ushered everyone inside for cake.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. We didnt play any shower games! There was horseshoe, corn hole, and ladder ball. I got to just sit around with my friends who I had not seen in FOREVER!
Thanks all for the well wishes! Must have worked, because all worked out well and we had an amazing BaByQ! My SIL (who is a wedding planner) used her skill to carry out our Americana theme beyond any expectations and all kinks were smoothed out by party time! Only issue was the heat - everything was outside and felt like I was melting! And I'm bummed I only got a few pictures - totally forgot to take family pics! (I blame the heat!) Anyway, here's the few I managed... Looks like so many of you had amazing showers this weekend, too! All looked beautiful!!
@LMNOBaby oh my gosh I love it all!! And you look great!! I'll be rockin' the same dress at mine Sunday LOL.

When was your shower? Surprise shower this past saturday
How many people attended? 25-30
What did you wear? Black Midi dress from a boutique store here in NYC
Was there a theme? color theme was white black and Gold, all the guests dressed in all white
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. I wasnt expecting to have a shower at all, since SO and I decided not to have one. so this was a very nice surprise.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Loved the Decor and the fact that it was an outside baby shower (Not so common in NYC unless you live in a house with a backyard or have it at a local park) Loved that it was a small shower with just my closest friends and family members. The dessert table looked amazing, Wish there was a bit more food though.
What did you wear? A floral black body con dress from Asos.
Was there a theme? Baby girl
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It exceeded my expectations. My SIL went above and beyond in the decorations and food and my other SIL did the flowers and mini pies. It was beautiful.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. My favorite part was having just one shower versus 4 like we did for our wedding. There were a lot of people there and it was so good to see everyone. I also loved the decorations and the food!
@bnsmith85 I hoarded mini pies and cupcakes so I had plenty to take home. The banana thing was a banana cheesecake and I am so disappointed in myself for not trying a piece.
@emmaaa banana anything is my favourite! Hell I loved that banana penicillin stuff you got as a kid (I think that's where my love of banana flavour started lol) so if you wanna get your SIL to send some over my way....

@zuzu87 What a pleasant surprise!
@emmaaa Oh my goodess, I was scrolling & salivating over those mini pies & cupcakes! Your decor was so cute - everything looked perfect.
And all three of you girls look glowing & gorgeous!
