@seitzy3 - I have never tipped for furniture delivery. That's a thing? Now I feel like a horrible person for never realizing that I was supposed to...(coincidentally my UO last week was that I hate tipping because I never know who to tip and how much)
@AnnaS930 - So for giving toddlers smoothies - how do you serve it? I just picture a big mess trying to give DS one. All of his straw cups have valves that slow the flow, so getting something think out like a smoothie would be a pain. And DS tips his cups weather he has a straw or not and makes a big huge mess.
@PSUBecky23 - i don't remember any pumpkin beer being spicy. But it was definitely gross.
I described that wrong. Not spicy in the sense that it's hot but spicy like too many spices - I prefer cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc in pumpkin pie, not my beer.
We always get a few bottles of St Arnold's Pumpkinator. It's got a lot of spices in it but is so yummy! Usually a lot of ginger so it almost tastes like pumpkin gingerbread. But it only comes out once a year and normally sells out quick. Wasn't there a pumpkin shortage last year too? I remember not being able to get as much canned pumpkin because my husband makes an awesome pumpkin soup and couldn't make it as often. (Can't remember who to tag...)
@marajay6 - I got this little Zak tumbler at Target for $6...
For those same reasons. This has a hard straw with a decent diameter so nothing gets stuck in it. There's also a ridge near the bottom 1/4 of the straw so it cant be pulled all the way out (another thing my kiddo would do if able) and the hole that the straw goes into really is just barely larger than the straw. If he tilts it for minutes and the smoothie is thin, a bit will drip out, but he does really really well with it. Also, it's double-lined, so a bit insulated which helps to keep it from getting too slippery.
It's not perfect, but for the price we haven't had a mess yet!
Random: I just had my last prenatal appointment. Now to sit back and wait for my c-section Wednesday morning/afternoon. I can't believe this is it!
Also, somehow Baby B managed to do a 90-degree turn and is transverse-ish now (head down and bent in half with his butt in my ribs and legs across the top of my stomach, which was his preferred position for quite a while before he went breech).
We're still going with the planned c-section anyway (for several reasons), but damn, child, how are you managing to contort yourself so much with so little room to move?! I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.
I know this was a gajillion posts ago, but I'm so not ready to lose my hair!! We had maternity pics the other day and I noticed it was so full of body. I have such thin hair, I hate to think what will happen this time around postpartum.
ps I had no idea what sunny side up was until the lady doing my BPP last Monday told me Ava was in that position. Should I be nervous? Should I try and flip her via spinning babies?
Another crazy thing labor related. My girlfriend was so over being pregnant she started to beg for an induction at 36 weeks (to be induced at 39) and her doctor said no way. Apparently there is a new law in Texas that a first time mom can't be induced until 40 weeks unless there are complications. (????)
saw my friend last Sunday and she said she was going in Monday to still ask for an induction. Her doctor said no. So what did my friend do? On Tuesday at exactly 39 weeks she walked into the hospital, said she was having contractions and they induced her. She wasn't even having regular contractions, just here and there and she was at 4cm. How is that possible? She's ballsy
@seitzy3 - I'm a cheap tipper at best.. We've very rarely had furniture delivered to house, and only once did they assemble said piece. I have never tipped them, and probably won't ever.
@MrsVoorhees perhaps we both prescribe to the Dwight Schrute train of thought (One of my favorites of his):
@seitzy3 the problem with sunny side up is that the circumference of the head coming out at that angle is larger than if she came out face down. DD1 was face up and it was just harder to get her out. They suctioned her out, but everything was fine!
@seitzy3 people such as your girlfriend make me twitchy... and good for Texas to make that a rule. My OB is FIRMLY under the belief of not inducing (unless medically necessary) until over 40 weeks. Last time we waited until 41 weeks and based my induction date on her on-call schedule for when she'd be on for multiple days in a row, ended up being 41+4 days. I asked her if we'd go so long this time if my due date comes and goes and she gave a very simple "YUP!" hahaha, no arguing that.
So my FI's older sister is coming to town tomorrow to drop off presents and see me and his other sister who is also pregnant nut she wants to meet up at their dad's house. Now....I have not stepped foot in that house since i got pregnant for 3 reasons. 1. They use a under bed tote as a litter box and don't clean it for months. 2. They smoke cigarettes in the house 3. It's just dirty and grimy I want to ask to meet someone else but she gets offended so quickly and I know if I suggest another location she is going to get mad.
ugh. I'm not walking in the house. I'll probably stand outside
Finally started the paperwork for my maternity leave. Even though my due date is 9/15, I put that I would like to start my leave 9/12 which would make 9/9 my last day of work. 3 weeks! Ideally, I would have the baby the beginning of the week that way we have the option of daycare during the daytime for the duration of my hospital stay. Of course that is hard to control, but maybe I could get my membranes stripped on 9/12 or 9/13. I am pretty silly trying to control this...
@seitzy3 I tip a small amount for furniture delivery but the only thing we've had delivered is our couch. I think I gave the guys like $10 each or something... Not much but a little thank you.
Although as I'm saying that I realize that I didnt tip the guys who delivered/installed our fridge a couple weeks ago. Now I feel insanely guilty. I blame it on pregnancy brain!
Re: tipping furniture delivery guys - I've never heard of that. Oops. I've heard of tipping house movers though. Although this story makes it sound like I'm an awful person...
When H and I moved, our movers were THE WORST. They were paid by the hour so they were slow as f*ck, meandering around, carrying one thing at a time. They also told us they stopped at Tim Hortons on the way, since they made it to our place before us. "We even stopped at Tims!!" Oh glad I paid you to go to Tims. They said we couldn't help because of liability issues so we had to just stand there and watch them be so slow. I was furious, because it took about 2 hours more than they quoted us based on the amount of stuff we had (since they were so slow). The total was like $800-$900 or something ridiculous and I only tipped them $10 LOL. So $5 each. Hope it paid for their Tims. I ended up calling their supervisor and got a few hundred back since he was appalled it took them that long. Booya.

@Megan324--standing outside sounds like the absolute right choice!
as for tipping, I didn't know you were supposed to tip furniture delivery folks either. Hm.
It is really bad lol I like the fresh air excuse!
I'll let yall know how it goes tomorrow.

This kid somehow did the womb gymnastics equivalent of eating the whole wheel of cheese. He's going to be a contortionist!
And the weirdest part is I have no idea when it happened because it didn't hurt. At all.
