@yellowrose314 being that my mom is 100% French Canadian, I feel the same way when people call it "poo-teen" instead of "pu-tsin" ... not sure that my phonetic spelling will make sense...but we be quebecois over here!
I don't even have an FC ancestry and it ticks me off too! Except this one comedian I heard she was this deep south lady, she was like "And y'all call it 'Pootin...' which is perfect, because that's what you're gonna do after you eat it." Truth. Nothing cleans you out like a bowl of poutine. Canadian gravy is like RotoRooter for your insides.
Had our birthing class today! Feeling more excited and empowered than I did before. Hope that feeling stays with me up until delivery day!
We arrived home to our stroller/travel system we ordered. And we placed our remaining order / Amazon completion order tonight! I'm excited that we will have the final touches for the nursery finally, including the crib and the dresser. I'm also feeling super pumped about the shopping - between the completion discount of 15%, several gift cards we redeemed from bank points and money from returns we made, we saved about $600!
Feeling like we accomplished so much baby related today. On another note, I'm feeling better about our baby name options too. I'm getting excited that we are getting close to narrowing the names down and that we will get to meet our little girl soon!
@Shiva14 Thanks! The fridge is a kitchen aid. We got it in 2013. Our kitchen is super small so it's a counter depth model.
Nevermind then, ours is less fancy - whirlpool from 2015. Looks so similar down to the handles though! I love the french doors, awesome for pizza boxes
@TheTamedShrew , @jas1982 & @rock1cherry Pumking is my FAVORITE pumpkin beer! Your posts and comments about it got me so excited to have some this year (I missed out last year ).
@geminigirl16 Thanks for thinking of me! DH, MIL and I are hanging in there. I think it is getting a little easier but that could just be me as I have been back to my hectic schedule at work and am in hyper drive at home trying to get stuff knocked off my 'to do' list. I am pretty sure DH is feeling a little better too though as he was test driving a new truck today and is considering purchasing it for himself this week (his 40th bday is this Friday). He has been talking about wanting a truck for about a year now so I know it is not impulsive just to try and feel better. But he has been splitting his time between helping his mom and I so he is a def trooper.
So am I missing out a ton by not being in the FB group yet? I am just really struggling to get through things at work and at home that it requires a ton of time to try and get caught up on social media. Adding myself to the FB group at this point feels like too much so I am thinking once I am working from home or am on maternity leave I will join. Unless ya'll tell me I need to suck it up and get on there now bc I am missing so much...

@blondie080300 So glad to hear you're all coping. Sometimes it's good to be busy, just make sure you're taking care of yourself!
You're not missing out on a ton, I promise. Same old shenanigans as we get up to on here, but it is really awesome getting to know people via their IRL names/places etc. I feel like it's bringing us all closer. But don't worry!! We will be waiting for you when you feel ready to come join us. Do what's right for you, you've got a ton on your plate mama, don't stress about a FB group, we're not going anywhere, I promise.
MIL arrived this evening. Baby had hiccups. MIL suggested we give her water to cure the hiccups faster. Mind you, my ten day old newborn baby. GTFO. 44 hours of 48 to go.....
@marikkita12 It took me a few minutes to comprehend your comment because I can not for the life of me seem to wrap my mind around the fact that some people don't know or have never experienced the amazingness that is a cheese curd. It's basically a little ball of cheese, but it's so much more than that... It's honestly hard to describe actually. They're just fresh and tasty and they squeak against your teeth when you eat them. They're like a tasty explosion of dairy excellency. If you can find some, I highly suggest you try them.
@marikkita12 Omg, cheese curds. It breaks my heart to believe there are people on here denied the pleasure of cheese curds. It's basically squeaky little cheese bites, and some places sell them lightly breaded and deep fried (yuuuuuums). They're amazing!!!!
@marikkita12@frogdog06 Growing up in WI, chhese curds were a way of life! I saw a "How It's Made" type TV show on them and they're actually made from the whey that is a biproduct of actual cheese making. So still cheese but a different makeup, somehow. I can't remember all the scientific details, haha. Bottom line, cheese curds = deliciousness. The fried ones are good but you gotta try them fresh to get the true experience.
Edited - I guess it's the opposite. When cheese is being flavored / processed, the whey (liquid) is separatex from the curd (solid).
Damnit guys. Now I want poutine and it's only 7:52 am. My belly is growling. I totally call it "poo-teen" Cheese curds are amazing, BUT poutine is only good with beef gravy. None of that chicken ish. See: New York fries poutine.
glad to hear you're doing well @blondie080300 - I've been thinking of you and your husband. Join fb when you're good and ready! BUT, really, join now. Haha!
@frogdog06 water to cure hiccups... Insert side eye emoji. Then you explain why that's a terrible idea and they go "well ____ had water and they survived!".
My headache has been fierce since last night. I probably have to go in and get my BP checked. Booooo.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
@frogdog06 ... yikes, water. E used to get hiccups multiple times daily and it rarely bothered him. I would try to use his first bout of hiccups each day to remind myself to give him his.vitamin d drops since the swallowing usually did knock them out...
@marikkita12 they'll be hard to find if you don't live in a curd area... but if you have a buffalo wild wings they have them deep fried on their apps menu (don't know if that's regional or not), and would at least give you the squeaky experience!!
@blondie080300 you're missing nothing on fb, just more of the same that's over here.. don't get me wrong, it's great but you'll be able to jump in when the time is right!!
@frogdog06 ugh. My dad tried to do the same thing when DS was about 6 weeks old. In their defense, I think their generation was told to give them water? Hopefully she accepted the correction, I remember my dad laughing at me and saying something like "fine, it's your kid" but obviously he thought I was being ridiculous.
@Shiva14 totally a generational thing. RE potty training. It's so funny how your pediatrician recommended doing that underwear/diaper over trick. We do that at night so DS won't "save" his pee and poop until the end of the day. Glad that I'm not insane for having substituted this method for pee sheets every night and 3am wake up calls!
@frogdog06 and other new mommas with LO digestive issues... Has anyone suggested Gripe Water? There is a specific kind that you can give them at early stages. I remember that really helping with hiccups and tummy trouble in the first weeks.
@KimmySchmidt purple hair looks great! I'm wondering if I should join the "teacher not going back to school" bandwagon and get my septum and lip pierced... That way I could buy one of those chains to connect the 2. #badassmom
Was woken up early this morning by the power going on and off for a while. We had crazy rain and lighting storms. The power ended up being out for 2-3 hours, but luckily we didn't have any issues aside from the AC and the fan going off. I could sleep at least...then started my day with a local bakery donut (DiCamillo for anyone nearby!) and orange juice. Sugar power!
I had no idea cheese curd wasn't a thing all over the USA. You guys are missing out. I love cheese curd. Plain or in poutine! They have flavored ones too, but my favorite is just the regular. It's so yummy!! We have a lot of cheese places nearby and our farmers market has a cheese lady. She's the best!
@RedMar I brought up gripe water to my ped and she mentioned she liked the simethecone (spelling?) drops better. But I'm up for trying gripe water as well, I have the mommy's bliss brand. I also have little remedies gas relief drops. Of course I'm paranoid to try anything without my ped's consent so I ordered the drops she suggested.
I apologize if this has been asked before but my search is not working for our Sept boards. But does anyone recommend a particular nursing camisole or tank? I want something lined so I don't have to wear a bra and I am worried my nips will show through it, lol. What brand/store do you recommend I stock up on?
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@marikkita12 We have cheese curds up here in Oregon! Tillamook cheese makes them and has them fresh or fried at their factory which is the best place ever (fresh cheese, curds, ice cream....) Also I just checked and they ship cheese curds now!! Everyone should buy some: https://shop.tillamook.com/tillamook-cheddar-cheese-curds.html
@Shiva14 I just can't tolerate unwelcome advice based on past dated experience (some 25 years?!).
@blondie080300 would you consider a chemise?? I have two of these, and want to get another: https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=90438960150 The top part is lightly padded so won't show nipple outline and the five dif prints are very cute. Granted, they are just for wearing around the house.
Holy tits, Batman. I am digging my new C+ cups breasts now that I am breastfeeding (coming from a flat A). Too bad we have to save for DH's car and a house or else I would consider an enhancement after a second kid. (And holy hemorrhoids ).

Well...if you're like me and have to wear nursing pads all the time, the nips won't be an issue!
I also had to wear pads all the time because of leaking @blondie080300 you never know when it just gonna start flowing out so I just worse regular Camis, my nursing bra and pads. If I was home just a cami and pads.
Day 2.5 with my migraine. Tylenol sucks! My midwife is useless

Bravado all the way for nursing bras and tanks. About $50/each so a little pricey but so worth it. I've been wearing my nursing bras through out my pregnancy.

For my migraines before I take my prescription med I am told to take Tylenol, caffeine and benadryl
My dad said the same thing about water, that he used to give some to us once in a while (he is 75 years old, so definitely outdated way of doing things) maybe not right when we were born but after a few months, he tought it was totally normal. But when I told him he said "Things do change all the time". My mom thankfully is more up to date since my brother has two kids already (he's my half brother).
I have no idea what kind of advice I will be getting from the parents in law. But I don't think the advice I will mind so much and if they take initiative and just do things (like giving him juice when he's not old enough...)
Also now I need poutine. In Ontario I have not yet found one that taste as good as the ones I can get in Montreal so I miss it and I am now sad.

@blondie080300 Another Mama here who needed constant breast pads so no worries about the nips! I was abke to stop wearing pads a few months postpartum but, by then, I was back to work and in regular clothes anyway.
@seitzy3 Sorry to hear you're still suffering! Tylenol is such a joke.
@Alyeena I'm so sorry that Ontario doesn't have poutine that lives up to Montreal standards. Out of curiosity, do you have a favorite spot (or two) in Montreal? I'm always on the lookout for new gems!
Regarding nursing bras, I also bought a Bravado recently and find it pretty comfy. I'm just hoping I bought a size big enough to fit my soon to arrive "porn star boobies" to quote the doula who did my pre-natal class.
I've also had bravado recommended to me by some friends so must be a good brand!
we have friends coming over for dinner and bringing their 6 week old. I really hope my dog/cats are good with her! This will be the test. My dog is wonderful with kids so I'm assuming she will be fine. The other day when walking, this boy who was probably just over 1 (was just learning to walk) came running up to her and was about face height. He was rubbing her cheeks and scrunching and grabbing her face and she didn't even care. She just stood there and licked his face.
