  • My office is moving like the week before I go on maternity leave. It's not that far, but far enough for me to be like "fuck how am I going to drop off one kid at pre school and one at a different daycare then sit in traffic to have them all picked up by 530"  like it's just a logistical nightmare unless I only work 10-4. Anyway as of right now my great plan is to only work 7 hours a day and hope no one notices.
  • @Vastra they were probably SO stoked you were giving them the NY experience.

  • I'm an asshole wife, apparently. I eat the best bits. I cooked it, I pick.

@Vastra I don't find that snippy at all. LOL. There are rules here. There are too many people here. The only way this place works is if we all follow those societal rules. My husband always equates it to going to visit any southern or midwestern city and stopping your car in the middle of the highway to take a picture.

Those sidewalks and subway exits are our highways. Keep it moving people!!!

  • I'm irrationally mad at my cleaning lady for killing my plants. It's a super fwp
My husband is always complaining about our cleaning lady, but i can deal with the odd breakage along the way when i dont have to clean the house!
  • I'm fully takin advantage of this 2nd tri upswing! DH got home from a 1 1/2 week trip on Monday and I know he's exhausted and trying to readjust to our time zone, but I've got him to give it up 4 times already this week  ;)
  • I'm definitely the asshole wife. When I cook I serve myself and the kids and when he cooks he makes my plate. He even picks out the stuff I don't like or makes mine separately if the stuff I think is gross can't be picked off. I always get the best portion.
  • I brought a piece of pie for second breakfast this morning (yes- 2nd breakfast is a thing every day) and I'm still going to have a big piece tonight.  I'm the only one that likes the kind we have so I have to make sure it doesn't get thrown away. :)

DH gets home before me so he has dinner ready and plated on the table when we walk in (I pick up the kids).  I'd like to say he does it for me, but really it's for DD.  Until she was really eating food regularly I still cooked everyday when I got him (even when I was home after him).  When DD was between 1 and 1.5 YO she started screaming the whole trip home from DC and we finally figured out she was famished. No mere snack was enough to satiate her until dinner was ready, so DH started having it ready when we walked in to avoid her wrath.

  • I fully expect to get flamed for this but here goes.
If this baby isn't the sex I want it to be I think I will have a mini breakdown.
I'm sure I'll get over it quickly and of course this baby is very wanted and very loved already, but I will definitely be disappointed at first.

I think my husband will be really sad if we don't have a boy this time around.

@SweetTI don't think that's so bad. My sister REALLY wanted a boy, like so bad. And when she found out it was a girl she cried a little bit. She was sad, because she really wanted a boy, but after she was able to process the news she was totally over it and is super excited for all the girl things. I think it's totally fine to be upset if it's not the gender you were really hoping for. As you said, you'll love this baby just that same :)

I have had friends cry when they found out the sex. I think it's normal and would never judge. I always wanted at least one girl so I feel a sense of relief knowing I have one.

I love that someone else is doing second breakfast. I was breaking my food day down to Hubby last night and explained it as: breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, snack, dinner.

Second breakfast all the way! I wouldn't survive without it!!

My FFFC is that if someone let me I could eat a whole bag of Smarties candy! Pure sugar and pure goodness.

I think it's normal to feel this way to some degree and I'd never judge.

If this baby is another boy, I'd be a little sad, just knowing that I'd never have that mother-daughter experience.

  • @SweetT I don't think I'll cry but my youngest has a larger than life personality and I really don't want another girl because I don't want someone competing with her and I couldn't imagine a quieter girl growing up in her shadow. Maybe it's the pregnancy hormones but I get sad thinking about it.
  • If we have another girl, I'm going to be worried for her.
DD is super smart, funny and really strikingly pretty. Red ringlets that are almost waist length, green/ blue eyes and porcelain skin. She looks like a cross between Merida and a porcelain doll. When ever we go anywhere we get stranger coming up and gushing about how pretty she is.
So my fear is that I'll birth a completely average looking child (who will look just like myself or H) and the kid will grow up in her big sisters shadow and become jealous and resentful.
I know it's crazy, but there it is.
  • I know that part of that comes from my own insecurities.
Growing up I had a cousin who was around my age. She's mixed race, white, Indian and Jamaiican. Hazel green eyes, caramel skin and beautiful honey colored curls. I remember how much it sucked when people would gush over her and I would just stand there looking like an even more awkward Olive Oyl haha.
  • +1 for eating like a hobbit.   That is my norm.
I don't fix a plate for my husband, and he doesn't for me.   What ticks me off is when I have gotten all the kids plates, drinks, ketchup, etc and he is halfway through his dinner when I sit down.

FFFC today, I puked in the car while driving.   I had gone to the doctor to make sure everything was okay, and on my way home knew I wouldn't make it.  Luckily I had a barf bag in the car from my daughter.   I could have should have stopped, but after you leave the hospital, the neighborhood and next couple of exits are in a not great neighborhood.   So I was the girl on the highway with a barf bag.

  • You made one beautiful child, I bet you have it in you to make more. @Gingersnap But yah I understand irrational thoughts like that.

My daughter is my twin in looks and personality. We could tell pretty early on that she's exactly like me. I secretly hope that the rest are more like my husband because he lives life so much freer than I do , doesn't care what anyone thinks, no fear etc. I love my little twin but I don't know if I could handle myself times however many more kids I'm going to have.
  • I know this isn't an FFFC but this happened with our kids. We had a boy first, and people gushed over how "pretty" he was. My sister had a friend joke that she wanted my husband and I to create a baby for her lol. He will be 10 in a couple weeks and we still get comments on how good looking he is. He just has good features. My daughter was born and no joke, we had strangers cross streets to come up to us and exclaim "man look at the thighs on that kid!!" It didnt happen just a time or two, it was something that happened almost everytime we were out in public. I have no clue what my facial expression was like, but it still blows my mind that people would go out of their way to make those comments. These days our daughter has no comments about her thighs. Due to this discussion I'm currently wondering what kind of reactions the new baby will get.

  • @homemake I feel you on the personality.
DD is even more fierce and spirited than I am.
I really hope next kid has my husbands laid back personality.

Sooooo. Maybe this my confession but I have a friend who's daughter is like supermodel material at the ripe ol age of 4. Mocha skin with bright blue eyes, silky brown waves, just the perfect facial structure, too. I used to watch her before I went back to work with DD2 and people would always compliment her. My friend had a second daughter and yikes... I love babies. I am a freaking birth doula, I love everything about pregnancy and L&D and newborns and early PP, helping women out is my passion, but this baby.... I cringed when I was asked if I wanted to hold her. She is kind of growing into her looks, but my husband once compared her to Sloth from the Goonies and I cried a little because it is so awful but slightly accurate.

  • As far as disappointment with the sex- I don't think I'd be disappointed either way, but in all honesty if God were to magically come down and say "take your pick" I would pick another girl, which might be weird because I have 2 girls and no boys. Also DH desperately wants a boy. HE might be disappointed if its a girl.

Yes, I want another girl everyone thinks I must be hoping for a boy and I let them think that. But I just don't see myself as a boy mom. I like all things girly, I want my daughter to have the chance for a special sister bond and like a million more reasons.
H knows how badly I want a girl so he says he does too not sure what his true feelings are though.

  • @WinchesterGirl I switched to an electric razor for my legs because it's faster, easier, and I can either use it in the shower or out.  It doesn't do as good as a real razor, but its worth it to me for the conveniences.

  • If I didn't shave my legs for 2 weeks I would look like a tarantula.
  • I have to shave everyday. I can't stand stubble.
