  • @happygirl1013 maybe they don't have alternate childcare? When DH is in school I literally cannot go hang out without my kiddo or he wouldn't get his work done. Most of the time I would love to go eat at a nice place without my kid...but I just can't.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @sourlemon - omg.
i don't even know what I would do. I'd try to guilt them about it so much that they stick an extra $10 in the intraoffice congrats card...

  • @sourlemon omg, congrats on not bitch slapping her. I would've. Lol.

My wtf is just my job in general. I'm just so unhappy here. I want to leave so badly, but the chances of getting hired at 23 weeks pregnant are slim. I'm actually going to apply for a job with the city, but who knows if it'll go anywhere. I need it to be spring so I can really start my search. I've been here 9 years, and on paper it's a great job. But my supervisor I swear is satan herself, and after 9 years I think she's broken my spirit. I just can't anymore. All I can think about when I'm here is how unhappy my job makes me. Ugh.

  • @sourlemon I think you should get a couple free b!tchslaps for that. Stupid socially awkward people.

My WTF goes to my district. They just changed district policy so that I can't be facebook friends with any k-12 student in the area. Yes, I understand why they did that, but now I can't use facebook to get ahold of my babysitters.
So instead of having a record of the conversations on FB, I get to make unrecorded phone calls and texts to students. Its just opening it up to inappropriate things. I would never do that, but still.

  • @slartybartfast that's a good way to look at things. I held out for so long because I wanted satans job when she retired. Now she's two years from retirement and I'm thinking that twins will be enough stress. Don't need shitty job stress too.

  • Second WTF goes to myself....I just now realized (while making my big end of summer/get done before school starts to do list) that DH'S masters classes start back up on Monday. This coming Monday! WTF where did the summer go? Almost nothing got done. Ahhhh.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @sourlemon I can't even begin to believe how an adult can be that socially inept.
  • @sourlemon Oh wow... that's awful. I seriously wonder what goes through people's minds sometimes. OMG.

MY WTF is a coworker who is complaining about being busy when we ALL are busy. Finally this morning she was B*ing about something and most of the team laid it on her that we're all busy and she just needs to do her job. She didn't want to call out to someone cos she "didn't have the time and is off the next 2 days". Um, you had ALL of the yesterday to make this call, and tried to pawn it off to everyone else then to. Do your job. The rest of us do and don't complaint as much. I do think my boss talked with her last week about her productivity level, as I guess she told the team after our annual reviews last year (I was on vacation when this was talked about) that she was told she is the most unproductive person on the team. Obviously... it hasn't changed. I will be happy to be rid of her in another week and a half.

  • WTF Walmart! There's no signage saying which line is site to store, so I stand in the line that has the giant PICKUP behind it. Stood there 5 minutes when I'm called up and say I have a pickup and she tells me I have to go to the other line, which hasn't moved and has grown since I got here. I tell her where is the signage that says that's the line for site to store and she says it's there. I look over AND IT'S ON THE DESK BEING HIDDEN BY THE 2 GUYS STANDING THERE! I tell her there is no proper signage and how is someone to know that's the correct line? She just shrugged. So I go to the other line still not moving and a worker comes up to the counter I was just at asking people in my line if they're there for pickup. WHAT THE ACTUAL F!? I am livid, the two guys are STILL at the one counter and I'm next. I just want my fricking support band.

  • @dmontgo I GUFFAWED all the way through reading that.

My WTF is that on Monday and Tuesday of this week my coworker brought her sick child to the office with her. She was said to have a sinus infection and tonsillitis but was "not contagious" ...except that school wouldn't let her come in SOOOOO what am I missing? It just seemed horribly inappropriate.

  • Just another day in the life of me...

    Well, I didn't piss myself @brittnic86 so that's a plus.
  • @caeyewhitaker - the either way disappointment was true for me. it's weird. but totally true. Thanks for explaining!

  • WTF is with the stabbing pain in my nipples? Feels like a hot iron and all I want to do is hold them...not exactly appropriate for the office.
  • So my late WTF is DH's job. He has been away for work for three days. Today he is back in the office and he is still there - it is 9 p.m. He has a lot of bids due (he works in construction) and will have to go in on Sunday and work late every night this week. He doesn't make enough money to be worked like this. His company has lost five project managers in the last year and has only hired one to replace the ones that left and is not planning to hire any more. Probably because DH will just work for 2-3 people. I want him to find a new job before the baby comes but I'm frustrated because he hasn't even looked.

Thanks for listening to my rant :)

@aframe77 that stinks that the Dr. blew your surprise! I think we all imagine our babies both sexes and are both disappointed and excited when we learn the sex - don't feel bad! We called this baby "RJ" R, Jr. after DH for the first 16 weeks! When we found out it was a girl we were excited but had to mourn RJ. Since we are supposedly one and done RJ will never be real!

@dmontgo - it could have been worse, DH could have accidentally gotten a hard on! My DH is so anxious about that he hates massages. I'm sure the masseuse is used to it, i'm sure I've farted before - you are so relaxed! Now I want a prenatal massage. :)

  • @aframe77 I'm sorry the doctor ruined it for you! :(

Don't beat yourself up too much. I think because gender disappointment is considered taboo, people don't talk about their experiences with it. I had thought very early we were having a boy--no reason, just intuition. DH really, really wanted a girl. In truth, so did I. A lot of people told me based on my symptoms they thought I was having a girl, and I honestly started doubting my intuition because I wanted a girl (nothing against boys, of course!).

When we found out we were having a little boy, I didn't jump out of excitement at first. I was shocked despite my intuition. DH was kind of disappointed. But as drove home and we're talking about it, we got excited for our little guy! I'm not very prissy, so wow, being a boy mom sounded awesome with mud and bugs and dinosaurs! DH started talking about sharing his models with him and teaching him how to build with Legos. Now that he has a name, we are pumped!

So, it's ok. @caseyewhitaker is right--the shock and uncertainty passes quickly--and you're not a bad person for having very normal feelings.

  • @aframe77 ugh I'm sorry the team green plan was foiled, but don't beat yourself up over any disappointed feelings. I struggled with worrying if I would be disappointed with the sex of this baby... It's a very real emotion and it feels so shallow and completely selfish at the time.

@dmontgo your H sounds a lot like mine, except he will unapologetically fart anywhere. On our first date he breaks up the conversation with, "By the way, I totally fart in my sleep."

My WTF award goes to a coworker: coworker (knows I have a 2 year old) asked how the baby was doing. I asked which one, inside baby or outside baby. Coworker was shocked I am pregnant. She thought (and said) I was just getting really fat because I stopped working out all the time.  Coworker went to hallway, yelled down it to the guy 4 cubes down (so everyone heard) "you are right? Sourlemon isn't just getting fat, she's pregnant! Can you imagine how much it's gonna suck with a baby and a toddler at her age!".

First off, yay they were taking bets on my "fattness". Second....I'm 28, married, own a house, and am stable. WTF. DH even works in the same office so they know him too.

Gosh if it was acceptable  (aka not illegal) to stab someone with a standard issue office pen, I'd totally have done it.
Holy goodness, that must have taken some serious restraint to not completely lose it. Clearly, your ability to handle those childish adults shows that your have what it takes to have 2 kiddos. I'd take your kids any day over crappy adults!

Don't you love how districts enforce these rules that actually end up making things less safe? Oh, district rules...

and Re the pink girly headbands, just tell people you don't want your infant to be over feminized. I was like this with DD 1, and people were pretty understanding. She still is pretty tomboyish, didn't play with 'girl' toys by choice until she was 4.
I gave up with DD 2, she was girly from day 1 and still is.

  • @yellingbanana The really idiotic thing is we had a State Association Lawyer there and his recommendation was to cc/group message a parent anytime I did that. Doesn't matter if its a 9th grader I had last year, or an 18 almost graduating senior. I'm supposed to friend or get mom's cell to add them in.
