Re: WTF Wednesday 8/17

  • @cjm1994 Try Zantac 150, or the generic of it. I was getting heartburn all day no matter what I ate, but taking one in the morning gives me relief all day. I usually only have to take one. Give it a try!

  • @tinattt23 hahaha that's what my husband said when I sent him a picture while he was working. If it was anywhere else in the house, I would've just let the cats deal with it. But it was right by my head!

I'm so so sorry the doctor ruined team green for you. Let yourself mourn the loss the idea of having a daughter. I desperately want a little girl and my intuition is telling me a second boy, and this is our last baby, so I know I will be disappointed too. I'm trying to prepare myself as much as I can in case that is what happens, but it still sucks. Hugs. I feel you. PM me if you want to chat.

  • DH and I also both thought we were going to have a girl. I was a little disappointed when we found out it was a boy - I already have a stepson so it would have been nice to balance things out, but honestly now I am just thrilled to meet the new little man.
  • Oh, and I forgot my additional WTF moment: my 12-year old stepson telling me I need to stop drinking so much coffee because it's not good for the baby (I have one cup a day). I explained about the recommended 200mg of caffeine a day and that my doctor was fine with it, but where does he get this stuff? It's not like my husband is on my case about it.
  • @aframe how frustrating! I hope the doctor feels bad. I too mourned the loss of a girl, but then I thought back to my favorite cousins/babies (I worked in a daycare for like 3 months)/students, and they were all boys. So now I'm excited and hoping my son will be someone's favorite
  • @aframe I'm sorry that was ruined for you! I was really disappointed about not having a girl, but I found that calling Rhett by his name and getting excited about the baby we are having vs. the dream baby in my head really helped! Of course we'll have more kids so I'm also able to tell myself that we still have a chance for a girl, but I've also been realistic about the fact that the next baby could be a boy too. Then I think I'd be upset for a little while but would be excited for Rhett to have a brother. There's always a bright side to everything once you get past the disappointment :)
  • Thank you for all the support ladies! Hearing similar experiences and your positive perspectives is helpful.  Ok, here we go... Sons it is! It's gonna be a fun ride:)

A day late, but WTF to the random lady walking by in Wal-Mart who asked me, "Are you pregnant?"...
Umm, what? Lol. I laughed and said, "Thankfully yes."     Some people have a lot of balls!!
  • Hey gals. Sorry to be jumping on the politically correct band wagon but can we please use the term 'massage therapist'... Masseuses don't go to school and are employed at the types of establishments that give happy endings. I didn't go to school and get licensed to be called a masseuse.

I know y'all probably had no idea, but it's cause me some serious eye twitching over here.

  • @slartybartfast massage therapists are my jam.  I wish I could see one as often as I need to.  Question... I get much less relief from a massage on my side.  I had a massage therapist from my PG with DS that had a wedge that had a hole for my belly so I could lay without any pressure.  Is that something that's common?  I've called around asking different spas and nobody knows what I'm talking about.  I hate paying more for a prenatal massage when I don't feel great afterwards.

Yeah I agree with this.  I had a prenatal massage and the side that I was laying on felt really uncomfortable and I almost felt like it was spasming bc I was trying to stay upright and resist the force of being pushed forward.  I rolled over of course but the side that was worked on first just ended up being really tight again after I was laying on it.  I couldn't figure out if they weren't doing it right or it just wasn't for me.

  • The one we use is sort of similar to this. You just need to keep asking for 'a pregnancy pillow that allows you to lay on your stomach' or a 'prone prenatal massage'.. Mind you they aren't recommended for use after about 32 weeks pregnant. That's when we have to go to side lying massage.

  • My chiropractor has a pillow with a big mesh-covered hole in the middle so that I can lay on my stomach - I'm honestly tempted to steal it so I can lay like that at home.
  • I have an inter-tube for a pool that I have blown up and laid on when H is rubbing my back. I also use it to nap/sleep on my stomach.
