I realized I'll be induced in 4-6 weeks or theoretically could have the baby at any time, and there's still a shit ton of stuff to get done. I just don't feel ready - is this one of those things that no one ever feels ready for, or you usually get it together then it's hurry up and wait? Everything from important (finding/deciding on the pediatrician and daycare, opening the stroller and carseat box) to seemingly minor (pedicure and haircut, nursery wall decor to be put up) things still aren't done Omg lists and energy need to make their way into my life ASAP!
@uponastar16 I think everyone feels this way. With DS1 I had my nursey and everything ready and I still felt unprepared. I actually felt better once I went out and bought diapers- as crazy as that sounds. First priority I think would be finding a pediatrician as you'll need to have that figured out once you give birth! But everything else is so minimal. All you really need is clean clothes, a car seat, a place to put baby down and to sleep and a way to feed the baby! everything else will fall into place!
We FINALLY bought the paint for the nursery this weekend, meaning DH is painting within the next 2 weeks and things will get set up. FINALLY. Thank goodness.
Also, my little brother was not only able to feel the baby for the first time yesterday, he saw my stomach move. He said it kind of freaked him out, lol.
@LauraPCOS yes! I have seriously tried for the last month or so to get him to feel her but she stopped kicking whenever he'd touch my belly so I'm glad he finally felt it.
SO and I have been together: 5 Years+ BFP: 03/10 First Baby: 10/20/2016
@Ashleymn my guy would do the same thing, second hubby touched me he'd stop, so one day while hubby was touching me I started talking to my guy asking why he was so mean to daddy not letting him feel him...funny enough he kicked
@Mintz1982 I did our hospital bags over the weekend! Eek! I still can't believe it's time for that.
@LauraPCOS I was so frustrated, I drug DH to Star Trek and wouldn't let him move his hand from my belly the whole time. The loud noises got baby boy moving and he FINALLY felt it. Lol
I ordered my first outfit for postpartum. Just leggings and a tunic but still exciting to think of getting somewhat back to normal!!
Also, talked to a girl in my office today that was due a month before me and she mentioned she's being induced next week. After her, there's only one more person I know IRL that is due before me. It's almost our turn!!!
Nesting kicked in for my husband and I over the weekend, so the nursery is 75% complete including clothes in the drawers.
The **** just got real moment was not there'll be a baby here soon, but in the holy cow does it seem like our son has grown up so much throughout this pregnancy.
And when did baby clothes get so tiny? We washed and folded a bunch of the newborn and 0-3 month clothes and I kept thinking, this must have shrunk, I don't remember this being this small.
Here he was trying out the swing for baby brother last night - when did he get SO BIG?!
We picked our pediatrician! He meets our needs on all levels and I am so stoked about having that crossed off of our list. These babies have a doctor! I don't even have a GP here yet, lol.
@Allison.smith.6212 I feel you! You've done way more than me in terms of prep but whenever I pull out a baby device and DS1 starts to play with it or sit in it, I am like WTF it feels like we just had you yesterday! It AMAZES me how much these little humans grow in such a short span! Super cute pic by the way! Your son is adorable!
My mom watched our dog this weekend while we were out of town. When we got back I said, "The next time you watch Cooper for us will be when we're in the hospital." Holy crap!!
And I ditto all the comments about not feeling prepared. I took yesterday off work so I could move everything out of the office, move the playroom downstairs, and start setting up stuff in the baby's room. I got a lot done, but all that is set up in the baby's room is a changing table and an ottoman. I have a lot more to do!! Moved some toys into my DS room as well. For those of you who don't know what "Paw Patrol" is...you will soon...
@lilbabybrown I always wonder what the hot thing will be for our kids. Will Paw Patrol still be in by the time these babies are old enough to watch television? Will it be an animated show about germs who live in outer space? Who knows!
Good to know @serenaxo84...we have a peds group I like if no others work out better, waiting list for daycare, got most seemingly important "stuff" other than the diaper genie and monitor, and I'm taking the whole day off Thursday so I can get some things done after my morning appts!
@ibabyloveb87 One of the first things we bought for my last baby was one of the TMNT onesies they had at Target with a cape for the shell because mine is also sure his kids will love TMNT, all things Marvel and all the Disney movies that he likes lol. My son is 2 now and has a couple of TMNT shirts and we just picked up some cute shoes on clearance at Target yesterday. I don't have the heart to tell my SO that my son couldn't care less about them.
@lilbabybrown my son's name is Rider and when that show came out he was hooked ! He is almost 5 now, my little girl loves Disney princesses and my youngest 1.5 has no interest in TV shows or movies lol.
As of today's L&D visit, I'm at a 2, 50% effaced, and my cervix is super soft. This could mean nothing (I hope they stay in a few more weeks), but I definitely need to finish baby prepping this week/weekend.
I had DD at 34 weeks. I'm now at 32 weeks. Holy. Crap.
And +1 for needing a giant to do list of hair appointment, assemble pack and play, finish up buying stuff (diaper bag, diaper pail...), pack hospital bag(s)... So much to do!
Countdown to Baby H! Mommy to Elizabeth (6/18/09), preemie at 34 weeks
I just counted...39 work days until my due date. eeeeks! This is the ramp up to the busiest season at work (I timed my due-date perfectly to avoid the sh*%-show my co-workers say), and I can't believe all that I have to get done before then. And I'm also stressing thinking about all that I'm leaving for others to do when I go on leave. There's not much I can do about it though, because of the way our deadlines are set up, so it's hard to work ahead.
Me and my husband only have around 6 or 7 weekends left to do anything.
1 we have company coming into town for my grandpas 80th bday. 1 we have my youngests Bday party 1 we have to take our boat out to its storage slot that is a 4 hour drive one way. 1 he is gone for
which basically gives me actually only 2 or 3 weekends at home with help to get my massive crap list done! I'm feeling the pinch for time already. Also I saw some yellow leaves on the trees today when I was out walking so that really makes fall feel like it's close by.

My prenatal classes are tonight and tomorrow, and we packed the baby's hospital bag and then started packing our hospital bag. Definitely getting real.
I had to prevent a mini meltdown this week because I was all "I am prepared for a baby, but eventually this kid will be 4! Can I deal with a 4 year old?! Am I ready for that?! Omg I don't think I am!!"

I still have days I'm not able to deal with my almost 4 year old. Everyday is an adventure that's for sure!

@LauraPCOS Maybe I am just a lucky mom and DD is just a badass, but she's 4 and I have loved this age, she is so much fun! She'll be 5 October 13th, and I'm ready to see what the next year has in store
