We have commenced drooling as well right around the 7-8 week mark. We haven't needed a bib yet, but I have them waiting in the wings. Its something new, so I still think it is cute.
The past few days baby girl (7 weeks today) has been SUPER clingy. Wants to be held often and sleep on me and wails if she wakes up and isnt being held. But when she is being held she is content as heck. She doesn't even want to be put down for diaper changes. She throws all of her limbs out like her startle reflex is high again. So yesterday and today all we have really been doing is sleeping and eating. Any one else had their baby go through a clingy stage? Oh, and her wailing is like, open mouth holding her breath no noise coming out for a second kind of wailing. The only other time she cries like that has been when she is tired of being in her car seat.
Super happy to snuggle her and reassure her since that's what she needs right now. And she obviously isn't that uncomfortable because she slept awesome last night! 5 1/2 hours is her record! Just wondering if any one else's little person got super needy out of no where. LOVED my new Moby wrap today because I had my hands free to bake her cake for her baptism tomorrow while she happily slept my chest.
Stuck in box @June2016BabyW you wrote this a few weeks ago and it describes us today! Similar timing too, my LO is 7w 3d. I remembered this post and it made me feel better : ) Did you do anything special to soothe your LO or did you just hold her and wait it out? How long did it last? This began yesterday and day before but today I can't even put her down when she falls asleep. She wakes right back up and cries for me.
I'm so frustrated over here LO was going 5-6 hrs stretches for a couple weeks. Now it's been two weeks of 3 hrs all night long again she's 10 weeks today and 12 pounds. I know she is capable of longer stretches and I'm getting so worn out again. I'm feeding her just as many times during the day anyone have this happen?

The first 3 weeks my LO would do 5-7 hours stretches (8+ lbs at birth) and I was in heaven. She hit a growth spurt and went back to 3 hour stretches- now at 7 weeks after her second growth spurt she had done two nights of 8 hour stretches. So she has kind of flip flopped- she's about 12lbs at 7 weeks.

My LO also did some really long stretches her first week of two but just because she was in that real sleep newborn phase. Then after the 6th week growth spurt she started sleeping at least one 5-6 HR now back to three is depressing. Thanks I hope it's a quick phase too buys been going on for almost 10 days now
How often is everyone bathing these babies? I see a lot of the bedtime routines include a bath--does that mean you are giving them a bath every night? Doesn't that dry out their skin? Our LO is getting baths twice a week cuz I'm worried about drying out her skin too much. Even when I lotion her up after baths she still has dry skin on her face and head. Not cradle cap as far as I can tell. Thanks, ladies!

To be honest I only do a real bath 1-2 times a week and just wipe down her neck in between. She has dry skin too. With my first I did bath every night before bed, but he was a more wound up kid and needed a longer more relaxing routine.

I'm doing the wipe thing do around her neck and inside of her hands! I noticed she had grime in the creases in her hands the other day because her fists are usually clenched! Hence the question am I bathing my baby enough. lol
We're doing 1-2 per week as well and wiping down her face and neck where breastmilk gets into the creases ; ). She has an explosive poop about once a week that usually triggers a bath!
We do bath 2x a week, but my LO already has eczema and cradle cap. I lather her head and face in coconut oil every morning and night and lotion her body every morning and night. I get a warm washcloth and wipe down her hands, feet, neck, and armpits. She spits up a lot so she can get a stinky.
We bathe Jackie every other day, but haven't had any issues with dry skin besides the initial newborn peeling stage. We also lotion her up every night.
Side note: if any of you have any balloons at home, tie a loop and put the string on their feet. Easy entertainment and SO stinking cute! Jackie has been staring at the metallic Mylar balloons and kicking at them for a half an hour! I thought I heard a giggle too.

I bathe Sam every night. He spits up a lot for one thing and he also loves his baths, as do I. I do massage him with lotion after every bath and his skin is super soft.
We do a bath mist nights cause he gets gas and it helps. But we only use soap maybe every 3 days. Just a water bath won't dry them too much and we do a coconut oil massage every night as part of the bedtime routine so his skin is super soft. Except that cradle cap, it looks yucky up close but thanks to the coconut oil, it doesn't flake
We bathe him every other night to avoid drying him out. No lotion or oils either (yet). I will also give him a bath during the day if he vomits all over himself. If it's a non-bath day and I end up having to give him one, we will count it and not bathe him the following day (minus his neck, face, hands, and feet with just a wet washcloth). If the vomit bath happens on a bath day, we don't bother doing it again that day.
So I got super distracted today while we were out, DS was happy as a clam, no fussing at all, wide awake, and I realize he hadn't eaten in over 4 hours. He never asks for food. Even when we got home he was like "yeah I guess I'll have some". Normally I feed on demand but he hasn't been gaining as much weight and he stopped asking for food. Though when I offer he eats happily and does a full feed. What gives?
Okay this may be a stupid question or maybe I just have mommy brain, but I picked up my birth control today (pill) and realized that I have no idea when to start taking it. I am ebf LO and have not had a period yet. Normally while on the pill, at least to my knowledge, you start the pack the Sunday after your period starts. Now my question is this: How do I know when to start the pack if I am not getting my period????

I went to my PP appointment yesterday and she said I could start the pills that day (Wednesday) or wait until the first day of my period. She did say if I start them before my period, I would need to use condoms for the first week to be protected against pregnancy.
I hate colds, I blame it on my older LOs going back to school. I came down first and now Charlotte is sick and it sucks, she's so congested and there's so little you can do. In general I think the worst thing is sick children, you can only do so much and until a certain age they just don't understand. I also feel so bad when I can't do anymore to comfort them and you just have to ride it out. I hate when my children get sick! Oh and until Tuesday when the cold started Charlotte was sleeping through the night.

I think you can start it whenever. I'm on the mini pill and also have not gotten a period yet. My dr said to just start it the Sunday after I picked it up. But use a backup at first if you have sex.

Thank you thank you! That's what I assumed but nice to hear confirmation. I was going to check with my doc tomorrow just to be safe.
Anyone else's baby wake up because their nose is stuffy? I try to clear Damien's nose at bedtime so that it stays clear throughout the night but it often doesn't. I woke up 5:30am today because of it. Since I knew he would want to feed soon, I tried to take advantage of being there. Nope. He just kept falling asleep. Nothing would keep him up. Then when I put him back in his crib, he would start wiggling around while half asleep and putting his hand to his mouth as if he wanted to eat. I tried feeding him a couple of times, each time he just passed out. Boo, I just know as soon as I lay back down, he will be ready.
Well we made it through our first night in the crib! He woke up at 2 and was squirmy for a bit after his bottle but didn't fuss. Was up like normal at 5:30.
I had a wedge pillow under front of mattress to elevate for his reflux. He is so squirmy (6 weeks old) that he wiggled down almost to one end and turned sideways in the crib. Sooo, I took out the wedge and put a thinner pillow in. Maybe it won't be as easy for him to do that again. Thinking about rolling some towels as well but I don't think it really matters as much as I'm just paranoid...
@StayingFocused That's great that he did a full night in the crib without issue!! I've heard a lot of people have the same issue with the kiddo migrating down the crib when it's elevated. I'm sure someone on the forum has tips!

Preston is napping right now (for how long, who knows) but we have his crib up too and I'll take a picture of what we did with a towel to prevent him from wiggling down.
This is more of a "random" than a "bump in the night"....
Last week my Mom stayed with us to give me a hand and Damien was really good the majority of the week. He only had one meltdown one evening (the first evening she was with us actually). He had his first non-errand outing and first public transit ride during that time too. Having her around just made life so much more manageable and I never had a "what was I thinking" moment while she was here, which was nice. She cleaned, cooked, helped with Damien, and having someone to talk to during the day was just awesome. She was such a huge help and I'm sad she's back home.
My SiL arrives today and she'll be staying for the week. I'm hoping this week goes just as well. This is our first time spending a lot of one-on-one time together but we do get along and enjoy each other's company so I'm not overly worried. I have a good feeling about her visit. My husband will be gone a few days this week so we'll see how those specific days go too!

This is how he settles in the crib. I took a bath towel and rolled it up then, because his mattress has the waterproof lining, I put a receiving blanket on the mattress and lay the towel in a U shape on top of it and put the crib sheet over everything. The raised edge isn't high enough for him to roll into it and get stuck.
Btw note his lovey, aka his new "pacifier" this is the second nap today and both times I out the Love with him and when he fidgets, it brings the lovey to his mouth, he bits it for a moment then passes out. Idk why it work, maybe cause I sleep with it at night to get my smell, or because it's fuzzy. Its like a backup soother if the pacifier falls out. Whatever it is, I'm so happy it's working cause it's one step closer to getting longer naps cause it's something he can soothe himself with easier rather than waiting for the day he can find the pacifier in the crib.
@vintagevix2016 mine has had a slight cold the last few days and the last two nights she got really congested during the night and it kept waking her up. Both nights I ended up sleeping with her on my chest in a recliner to keep her more upright and she slept much better at that time. Can't wait for this cold and congestion to pass though.

We have a lovely like that but it's an angel. I should try sleeping with it and giving it to him for naps too. He generally has 2 sessions of fussing when the pacifier falls out during a nap. After the second session, I guess he's tired enough that if it falls out again, it doesn't bother him. I know I had a lovey from Day 1 and just used it and my thumb.

I thought he might have a cold when this first started happening when he was born, but the only symptom he has is the nasal congestion. His mucus is clear at least, so that's a good sign I think. None of the doctors and nurses he has seen seemed to be worried, it's just a nuisance at this point.
