I can't stand watching the Olympics. Then again, I don't like watching any sports on TV. If I can go to a game, then I'll do a football game or basketball, but that's it.
I don't get watching the Olympics. Yaaaay athletes....cool. I guess some events are kinda of cool to watch....but others? Like apparently double dutch jump rope is an event? TF? But I'm not really into watching sports either...so whatever I guess lol.
Aw - I love the Olympics! But I think that's mostly because I swam all through school and it's one of the few times swimming is on tv.
My UO is that I don't get the obsession with Beyonce. She's a good singer and all, but sheesh. I don't think she warrants most of the praise she gets, whether it's for her music or her "feminism".
I can see not everyone liking the Olympics, and that's totally OK!
I do enjoy watching the Olympics, and always have been since I can remember, but with social media and online news outlets these days, it's just not as fun. It's hard not watch some of the coverage in primetime, since you already know the results of some events that they show if they were held in the afternoon (women's gymnastics the other day). I know that happened in the past (afternoon events), but you usually didn't find that stuff out until the news or primetime Olympic coverage was on for highlights.
I also like watching sports (baseball, football, some basketball and hockey), so that is where my interest is. I was in gymnastics for 10 years as a kid, so that event was one of the "must sees" for me when the Summer Olympics was on. I regularly am in a volleyball league and have played softball in past years, too.

Beyonce is eh. I like some of her songs, but I don't think that someone that shakes her bare butt in front of millions (I've seen her in concert) is a stalwart of feminism.

I like professional football. Barbaric? Maybe. Testosterone gone wild? Frequently. Cause of frequent serious and traumatic injuries with lifelong consequences? Unfortunately. Misogynistic moments with cheerleaders and terrible and disproportion occurrences of domestic abuse? Yes. But but but it's exciting! And nachos!
Love football, especially college. Hate Beyoncé. Lol
My UO is that I am naming my daughter a typically masculine name but I don't care. The name is Grayson and I personally know two adult females with that name and think it has great nicknames.
We we are getting some serious flak from our families about it but I don't care. With all of the names I see being used on social media for new babies I think Grayson will be far from the weird name at school.
OK, OK... I'll update my college football... I ONLY watch and go to the games involving my college alum, NDSU. They have won 5 straight FCS Championship games and have been great competition for the BIG college schools when they have played them. Everyone else, I could care less about.
Beyonce... I'll taker her OLD stuff any day. This new stuff from the last 5-6 years, no thanks.

Seriously! It's even worse if you're on the west coast, because the news spoils it even before the prime time coverage starts.
I LOVE football. Starting soon we will have football on all day Saturday and Sunday. I love watching Big 10 football on Saturdays and we pay extra to get the Big 10 network.
I'm also a fan of at least the first half of the Olympics. Not sure how i feel about the track and field events, but we'll probably watch them anyway. And yes, news spoiling us west coasters stinks!
My OU is probably pretty unpopular, but oh well... I don't like feeling the baby kick/move at all. Its nice to know she is still in there and moving, but for the most part I'm not a fan and wish I didn't have to feel it... I feel like a terrible person for this, but oh well, there it is.
I hate football, but I'll come to your Super Bowl parties and eat the food. Beyonce is ok in small doses.
My UO involves excessive bathroom photos and videos of bare pregnant tummies, but more specifically the videos. Disclaimer: This isn't about body shaming--I think pregnant women are beautiful, and I enjoy seeing tummy pictures!
There is a person on my Instagram that posts 5-10 pictures of her bare bump a DAY, but for some reason loves to film her belly because she wants people to see her son kick. The problem is...you can't see it! Ever! It's literally 30 seconds of her belly breathing. She's almost 2 weeks behind me, so I feel like he is too small for outsiders to see him moving yet. So my feed is becoming video after video of her tummy breathing heavily at me, asking for cheeseburgers (ok, *I* want the cheeseburger). As for the multiple bathroom pics a day--your stomach hasn't changed enough in one day to warrant 10 bump pics. I'm reading the ingredients on your shampoo bottles after the 3rd one.
All that to say--I feel like this girl is making bare tummy pics the dick pic of pregnancy. I'm tired of looking at it, I'm tired of it breathing at me, and I don't wanna touch it...even if it asks. Hmph.
@dmontgo I just spit my Black cherry Shasta all over my mac reading that. I also do not like the bare tummy shots. I adore tasteful clothed bump pics, but not bare belly ones.

@dmontgo Agreed. Bump pics aren't really my thing personally, I don't care if/how other people do theirs, but the excessive belly bump pics have got to stop, clothed or not.
My UO is other people "taking over" my pregnancy... Telling me what they would name him, telling me all the things they will do with him when he gets here *eyeroll*, the "I better be the first one to know!" comments and the "I'm going to be in the waiting room!" comments *cue more eyerolls*. I've learned to just smile and nod and laugh snarkily about it with FI afterwards. I understand a new baby is exciting, but that doesn't mean you have to make it all about yourself and totally discredit us as parents before he's even here.
@ashleaf2018 I'm just rude AF when people get that way with me now. I say, "Um, hell no." People want to come visit immediately after, be there during the birth, etc. I told them I'm not going to tell them Ashton has even been born until a week after we get home. Bleeding, sweaty, and leaky with people hovering around me? Naw, I'm good.
My UO is that I really don't mind the randos that post their own threads. I hate duplicate threads, by regular posters and randos alike, because it is redundant and I don't want to answer the same questions over and over. But the random threads don't bother me at all. I am not offended if you don't regularly contribute. I also don't have the time/energy to look at people's post counts and let that guide how I respond.
@dmontgo thanks for jumping on This for me!!! Super busy at work! Ummm and that woman needs to chill. I hate when people over share on social media. No one cares!!!!!!!!

I only do this if I really don't know who they are. I spend a lot of my time here, an embarrassing amount now that its this or Netflix, and if I cannot remember them ever posting before I double check before I snark them. I'm glad I did last week(?), as I was about to get after Sharky for only ever starting threads bur because I happened to be on my computer I checked and saw that she was just on threads I never visited. The 'definitely girl' post I would have snarked even if it was a regular. No one needs/should have their genitals posted on the internet IMHO.

RE: olympics- meh. We don't have cable anyway, but I'm indifferent.
ok, I've UO'd about LLR before, and then I ate my words because I can pull those things up to my boobs and feel like a million bucks. BUT. Some of the prints look like they came out of my grandmother's quilting scrap pile. Also- if one more person PMs me to say plexus will cure my x, y, and z... I'm going to lose my mind. Are these even UOs? I don't know what I'm doing anymore.
Going out for DH's birthday tonight and while I'm happy to celebrate his special day, it feels like I'm getting ripped off since I can't have a drink or two. I enjoy the special drinks or high end wine I don't buy myself often (for lack of self control of opening a $25 bottle of red with a burger) and that's part of the fun of a nice meal to me.
@jptrumptone I can understand where you're coming from. I like feeling the baby in the way that it's reassuring, and it was fun when my boyfriend finally felt him, but a lot of the times it's uncomfortable and a little creepy. I feel bad feeling this way sometimes!
@penelope4612 Same. It's not like I'm a frequent poster or anything, but the "rules" on posting are a little weird for me. Like... If you just happened upon this board by chance, how long do you wait to post your own thread? How many replies do you need to feel ok to post a new thread? It's a little tiring.
I can't stand selfies. Especially when people post a picture of themselves with some completely unrelated bullsh. "Im so glad it's raining today!":Picture of their stupid face they blast EVERY day. We know what you look like. I can't decide if it's worse when pretty people or ugly people do it lmao. I know I'm mean.
I had something better than this I wanted to post earlier this week but waited and now of course I can't remember.
You guys - I'm growing tired of the conversation about how people react to randoms. Love 'em? Great. Pull up a chair and be their personal Google and best friend. Hate 'em? A little 'friendly' snark never killed anyone.
I thought we put this to bed. @Lisa3379...there aren't rules, other than don't be a selfish attention whore. I'm not sure why that's so incredibly hard for people to agree with. Play along, or don't but if you legitimately come here and say 'hi! I'm X and just found you guys and would love to jump in but have a question - how many of you are experiencing X symptom?' Assuming that same question has not been posted in the past 10 threads that you should be able to see, it's not a problem, and that poster would get a warm welcome.
I don't get the talk of 'rules' there are no rules, except to not demand attention and get nothing in return.
@penelope4612 - don't mean this to be offensive to you, I don't know why it always need to be a thing.
In real life, do you just walk up to a group of women who are established friends and shove something in their face, wanting their help or advice, without any prior relationship with any of them? I hope not. Same thing with the drive-by randos. It's not really that we have "rules," but there is a distinct etiquette to this board that includes some kind of introduction and building of rapport before expecting everyone's advice and opinions on things most of us may not be knowledgable about. Like with that "definitely girl" thread, I don't know about any of you, but I have not been trained to read ultrasounds, and I feel a little strange looking at the genitalia of an interweb stranger who has not otherwise contributed to the board.
There is so much on this board that we support each other on, family relationships, medical hardships, unfortunately even losses. For someone to just come in and make a *speshul snowflake* type post without having built up that relationship or even so much as an intro post just strikes me as weird. I hope no one truly feels scared to post anything where it's warranted, but half the new posts that are made could easily go on an already existing thread anyway. That's what's also frustrating; there are so many posts about specific symptoms when we already have a symptoms thread, and a few weeks back it seemed like there were tons of "anyone else due on this day" threads when we already have an EDD thread pinned to the top. Not that any of that is against the rules, it's just bad forum etiquette. I'm on a few other forums, not all pregnancy related, and this etiquette is not specific to this board or The Bump in general either.
I have been laughing about the dropping in with baby genitals without consent since last night. I mean how weird is it that you're not even out of the womb into this world yet and your genitals are already on the internet for strangers to gawk at? Thanks mom.
@dmontgo The voice that I picture you having and using while saying some expressions that you do is absolutely hilarious. MAI BAWLZ!!
I feel like I don't talk a lot, but I gawk a lot. I always get a few laughs from this board though. Work is super slow right now so I'm here quite often just loving the sh*t out of people's internet words.
@DiFazette@ashleaf2018@dmontgo this reminded me of an experience a few weeks ago. My lab gets allergic reactions to the grass and he ended getting this HUGE pimple on the tip of his penis. And I was like WTF is that?!?!! So I took a picture of it because our friend is a vet tech and we had a party we were going to that night and I wanted to see how to clean/get rid of it. Anyway we get to the party and there's like 10 people talking with Amy the vet tech. DH walks right up to the group and goes "Hey everyone how's It going... Amy this is the picture of my dogs penis" Everyone looked at us like we were a bunch of weirdos. So anyway this is how I assume everyone reacts to pictures of others gentilia. No one wants to see it/ no one cares about it.
and yes his penis pimple did go away.

@sammyl1221 I'm with you on the spouse challenges... i have a friend who i love, but had to hide on Facebook because she posts so many unnecessary platitudes about her husband. I call them odes to [her husband's name] and my dh and I regularly eyeroll together at how sappy and stupid they are. I mean he's your husband - he's SUPPOSED to watch the baby when you're out of town! Besides that... No one cares! I get that he's a great guy (and I agree, he really is) but I seriously dont need a daily reminder of how #blessed you are to have him in your life!
