@zubenescamali that sucks that she didn't get her request. I didn't even know this was a thing, that you could request your teacher! I'm sure it's just unlucky - if a ton of kids requested one teacher, then they can't fulfill everyone's request I suppose.
Are your daugher's teachers new? That might be a cause for concern, if it's a big class. If they have experience, however, I'm sure they have systems worked out to maintain classroom control. Have you asked around if anyone else has had experience with them being their kid's teacher? I would definitely give it a chance. The fact they have two teachers in there (with hopefully some experience) still means that your daughter is likely to get the attention she needs and they can still keep control.
@sourlemon I thought my dog was the only dog who was like terrified of baths lol. He's only gotten two baths in his life. The last one took over an hour, and involved me chasing him around the yard, trying to corner him for each step in washing him, and in the end my neighbors came out to see if something was wrong because he was yelping like I'd hurt him, when all I was doing was rinsing soap off of him -_-
@zubenescamali It stinks that she didn't get her requested teacher and all of her friends did. It sounds like the popular teacher got requested a lot and there just wasn't enough space for everyone. That's one of the reasons my district doesn't allow teacher requests. It can get really messy!
A good thing to remember is that just because a teacher is popular doesn't always mean they are "the best" and no one teacher can be the best for all students. It sounds like her teachers have a great attitude about the situation! Having that 2nd teacher in there really is a bonus and will help with targeting instruction for students at all levels. Honestly, I often wish I had a 2nd teacher with me to support instruction - I could get so much more small group work going! And depending on age, 29 students might not even be as chaotic as you would think, especially with effective classroom management. What grade is this?
Try and keep positive and give it time for everyone to settle in. It takes a surprising amount of time to really get grooving at the beginning of the year. If you have any concerns, definitely talk to the teacher! Every teacher I have worked with truly wants every child to succeed and will do whatever they can to make that happen.
The real twat waffle is THE BUMP ADMIN TEAM. Been trying to communicate with them for 2 months to change my SN. They said they would change it ASAP. Now they don't respond at all to me. I haven't been posting because of this. My SN is very close to my real name and I don't want anybody in the real world to google me. So frustrating!!!!!!
@ashbozso: You can change your screen name for The Knot. Login with the same info there that you use on the the bump. In the upper right hand corner, you will see a menu called "my knot tools". Choose account settings from there and you should be able to change your screen name.
My TW is me. More specifically my MS. I scheduled a semi-emergency dental cleaning for 11 am tomorrow because with all the throwing up I've been doing, I can't imagine the acid is helping my teeth at all. Not really an emergency other than the fact that I'm freaked out all my teeth are gonna fall out, no big deal.
I feel ya girl. I just bumped up my dental appointment for the very same reason. And I almost have to wait a little bit to brush my teeth after a throw up, because if I don't then I gag on the taste and the brush and start throwing up again!

I have done this before it always changes back. I will try again.

Update on my teeth: Dentist said my teeth are perfect, but I am in the early, early stages of gum disease. He said that rinsing is good but it doesn't always get everything out, so when I brush afterwards I am essentially forcing gunk up underneath my gums so my gums are very inflamed and bleedy and sore. They cleaned out a lot and gave me a pretty rigorous cleaning schedule and I'm supposed to go back in 2 weeks to see if the swelling has gone down.
They said that the way my gums are makes me prone to gum disease and the MS is exacerbating it. They can't get x rays while I'm pregnant so I have to go back as soon as I have the baby to have those done. They said my bone structure underneath my gums could be the cause of all this and I may have to have mouth surgery to correct it. But other than that no cavities or anything like that!
He basically said this was unavoidable and it's a good thing I trusted my instincts and came in when I did, the damage would have been almost irreversible had I waited any longer. Ladies, listen to yourselves! If you think you need to have something checked out, just do it. It's better to be wrong than to find out you're in the early stages of gum disease, lol.
ETA: The dentist also said that we'll discuss the schedule more at the next appointment. I talked to my grandmother about all this and she said that they may have me come in every month for a cleaning with the combo of MS and my weird bone structure affecting my gums. So monthly dentist appointments until I deliver may be in my future, unfortunately.
@ashleaf2018 that's great you don't have cavities. Just FYI, mine didn't show up until after delivery. but hopefully by being super careful and proactive you can avoid a lot of that.
@sourlemon Yeah, I think if I do end up having to go once a month then they will be able to nip any cavities in the bud. Knowing I'm at a predisposition for mouth problems is going to keep me and my dentist super vigilant, I think.
@zubenescamali Haha, if only I were that brave! DH said I should have pointed out she shouldn't have been eating cake what with her diabetes and all. But she's pretty sweet otherwise...I mean, once you wade through all the passive aggressive BS.
@kbduke Ugh, what is wrong with the grandmas these days? With all the etiquette they grew up with, I don't understand how body shaming slipped under their radar. It did hurt my feelings. I'm sorry your grandma said that to you, too. I was hoping for an "I'm so excited for you!" moment instead.
