@CopperBoom86, Miss Manners would be appalled! I used to have a friend (she's no longer my friend) who made such a big deal about things like that and would post it on Etiquettehell.com bwaha. But yes, what @mrscorker said! Can you post on the fb event page (is there an FB event page or did she just randomly invite people from your FB? i can't remember), anyway if there's an FB page, can you post something like "hey guys i know it's last minute, so don't buy us a book if you've already bought the card! i'm just excited to see you all!" or something?
Speakin of baby showers, what are you guys getting your hostesses as thank you gifts?

Why is that becoming a trend? I mean I like baby books, but since when did a book go from being an actual gift in itself to being the side item to the main dish gift?
@CopperBoom86, LOL girl! But if I was in your place, I wouldn't either!
@SpaceBurger, I think even if it's just like a $10 giftcard to somewhere they like..... or or something DIY if you're crafty.
@UFJen, I know.... I am realizing I only have a few weeks left, and I really don't wanna spend a lot of $$ considering I have 4 hostesses I need to give thank you gifts to.
@annabenanna For my first shower I did a little bag with a mini champagne bottle and nail polish in it. For my second shower I did gift cards to Starbucks or Chickfila (depending on the person) with blue macaroons that were made in my town. Both gifts included a note to the hostess too. I'm not sure yet what I'm doing for my friends in my hometown yet...might do a bottle of wine wrapped in a cute dish towel.

Oh no @copperboom86. I like Anna's post idea for the FB event. Hopefully they realize it's her, not you!
I get the sentiment (and I love giving books as part of a gift sometimes), but an $8.99 book is way more expensive than the 0.47 cent cards I get from Walmart
Oh, @CopperBoom86 you have all my sympathy. You need a stamp that just says "It wasn't my idea! I swear!" Maybe you could have a friend gossip at the shower about how terrible you felt about your sister-in-law's eccentricities.
@nlane0723 My son has been especially adorable for the past two weeks, and every time he does something cute, I just think "Your poor brother. He will never be able to live up to this." Then I feel bad.
@annabenanna Go for it! I can't take credit for the idea because it's all over Pinterest! Doubt we have the same hostesses anyway being across the country from one another

#squeezer over hurrrr! I love it, honestly. My colostrum came in at 22 weeks (which is fairly early) and I was ecstatic because my milk dried up a few weeks before and it made the nursing aversion nearly unbearable. Now it's not as bad, thankfully.
So I grew some balls and texted my SIL. I told her I was going to post something on the group about it not being necessary to bring a book instead of a card. At first, she offered to take down the post, altogether, but I didn't want that because I know people have already seen it. Then she suggested she edit the original post to include a disclaimer, so that's what we ended up doing. This is what it looks like now...
You know the part that makes me cringe the most @CopperBoom86? The part that says "one small request that won't be too hard" It almost implies that if they don't do it, they suck because "it's not that hard". Ha.

@CopperBoom86 Good heavens, I have no words... I just know you have to have a lot of self control not to flip out on her. At this point I hope you're not just wanting to get your shower over with!
I cried today because I'm worried the babies are going to come super early and I'm worried that DD is going to feel replaced and unloved. I don't even know how to love another human as much as I love DD.
I haven't caught up on the rest because I stopped here to reply. This. 100 % this. I know it will be possible, but even with dd being 3, I will still look at her somedays and get struck with disbelief regarding how much I love her. I also really worry about her feelin replaced, especially with the Lo being another girl. My dd is such a daddy's girl and I don't know how she'll feel sharing attention.
I'm Also worried about sisters. Yes having a sister can be a 'best friend' for life, but my older sister and I HATED each other until we were both in our 20's. Like she tortured me. It makes me super nervous for what kind of relationship my girls will have.
Why is that becoming a trend? I mean I like baby books, but since when did a book go from being an actual gift in itself to being the side item to the main dish gift?
This is just my opinion on the matter so hopefully it doesn't get flamed, but I would much rather spend $5 on a book then a card. Why are cards sooo expensive? And I know you can just put your name on a gift tag or get a $.97 one (which I would depending on recipient, but it's not always the most appropriate way to go. I have always thrown cards away after thank you'd have been written. They take up space and most of the time just have someone's name signed.
My my mom did this for me when she threw my shower for dd because we had a books themed nursery. The only problem I had was I felt bad when 3 different people got me Cat in the Hat since they were all signed on the inside. I still appreciated it, and I just split up the books (like one is one display rather then being the one we read and one stays in the car for when we travel).
I totally think the book thing is a great idea....if a guest is buying a $5 or so card. As for me, I NEVER buy cards (unless it's basically a vessel for cash/gift card) and instead re-use the gently used gift type bags that I've received gifts in previously. Then I have a big stock of those tiny blank cards that tie onto the handle. I feel like buying big $5+ cards is sort of a generational thing.
@mizzkbrat Sad news about that poor baby. I know this sounds horrible but i felt bad then I saw your next sentence about starting a new post and freaking out and I laughed and then I had to stop myself because its probably too soon for laughing and I should be sad for the baby. Flame me too I guess.

Yeah, but did she do it 4 days before the shower??? Lol.
It's definitely a cute idea, but needs to be included in the invite so people can plan ahead of time, factor it into the cost of the gift, etc.
@CopperBoom86 hahaha no, you have every right to be ticked with that one (and all the other faux pas)! I was just commenting on bamacoop's question about he new trend because I do love me children's books!
@CopperBoom86 I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. But, OMG, this girl is a trip! I was surprised (relieved?) to see you say she did actually send invites in the end (albeit way too late...) lol
@CopperBoom86 I'm sorry you're dealing with the headache of your shower, but hopefully once it is over you can rest easy. I looked forward to mine just being over too because of the last minute stress of it.
@AllyTheKid & @MRSCORKER - We've decided (yes, we were talking about you two on the FB group; see, you're missing things!) that you both need to make super private FB profiles to use exclusively on the FB group. We neeeeeed you!!
I've thought about re-activating just to join this FB group but I'm seriously loving not being on FB right now. People are leaving me alone and I don't have to see any posts about politics. I'm blissfully ignorant and I don't know if I'm ready to go back down that rabbit hole! I don't want to miss anything though! lol
@MRSCORKER I'm so envious of people who are able to deactivate FB. I get seriously stressed out by politics and friends' opinions and just want to unplug a but in general. Only reason I'm still on is because I'm active in dog rescue and I hate the idea of missing a transport in my area or volunteering at an event.
@CopperBoom86 Oh my god, my MIL decided to do this after I sent the invites out too. But instead of posting it, she decided that my husband and I (who will be receiving the RSVPs) should tell our guests that they should buy us a book instead of a card. Um.... no! I'm not telling people what to buy me! I hope your shower goes over as smoothly as possible. One day you'll look back and laugh.... or cry. One or the other. Lol
@brzvice... I just belly laughed over that. You are hilarious
@amye102485 I'm sure you guys are going to do so well with your new LO. I bet that by the time he's here, she'll be excited to be a big sister and a helper for mom that she'll forget all about not wanting the baby
@CopperBoom86... oh man... I know you're going to be so happy when all of this is over! I agree with everything @ignoscemihi suggested! Get the stamp and the friend to "gossip" for you about how it wasn't your idea for a last minute book request That said... I'm with @maf9866- I totally LOVE the book idea (if it's done in advance of course)
ETA- OH, and an update on the dog trainer thing! We went, it went wonderfully. I feel so good about the plan we have. Things are going to be very different around here for Blaze (aka- much more structured). And a lot of what we need to do makes it feel like we're not loving him enough, but it's the lesser of two evils right now and it means we keep him and he lives. Also, I was really pleased with how responsive the trainer was to me telling her about how door knocking takes things to a whole other level for him. She said that based on what I described, she wants to make sure we're able to be successful, which is going to mean they're spending time helping us and teaching us (vs just giving us a plan) and may want to have him at the facility some so they can work with him one on one. GAH... I feel so good about this plan y'all! smiles for days
My MIL just texted me that she bought a ninja turtles onesie so Baby B can be one for Halloween because DH liked ninja turtles as a kid. I'm sorry, did you ask me what my plan was for his first Halloween?? No. Just no. I should be able to pick my baby's first costume. Maybe that's just me, but it was kind of something I was looking forward to......
note: I'm not even planning on getting into Halloween this year because he will be so little. He might wear black and orange or something for a cute pic but that's it.
Ohhh, hell no, MIL. I have a feeling my asshole sister will do something like this. You definitely get to pick his first Halloween!
You guys, I was walking down the street from the post office (where it's really really bummy) and this homeless guy saw me as I stopped at the pedestrian crossing waiting for the light to turn... and he goes
"OH Shiiiiiiiiiiiit!" pointing at my belly. I ignored him and continue walking. Of course he follows and walks with me
homeless dude: "When are you due????"
me: "October."
homeless dude: "Late or early?"
me: "Early."
homeless dude: "i bet it's not early, i bet you're gonna have a halloween baby. yep! you're gonna have a halloween baby. Oh shiiiiiiiiiit!"
Hey ladies, for those of you that have already ordered your breast pumps, did you use edge park medical supplies?
I'm using edge park but my insurance makes me wait until 30 days before my due date. I just went on the edge park website and filled out in the form and they'll send me a reminder to submit my prescription at the 30 day mark.
