Re: Symptoms Talk Goes Here! 8/8/16

  • I've seen some ladies mention that headaches are a symptom of 2nd trimester.  But I actually have read nothing anywhere where it says that. My head is hurting like a B!%^&. Debating if I should call my doctor.
Could someone please tell me where you read/heard about this symptom? Thank you!!!

I think I just heard it around TB. I wouldn't be concerned with it from a pregnancy perspective, but of course, you need to be able to function. I had some bad ones last week but I think most of the time they were attributable to getting a little dehydrated, which is so easy to do now. For me, tylenol (acetaminophen) was a great help.

    2. What are your symptoms this week?
Still nauseous on and off but I've stopped throwing up. I'm glad that was only a temporary thing. I've got headaches and lots of heartburn.

    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns?
following what I've said on the randoms thread, I'm really saddened by the fact that I can't stomach coffee because I miss it. I had at least 2 cups of coffee every day pre pregnancy. I'll give it another go when I'm well into 2nd tri.

    2. What are your symptoms this week? You guys, the dizziness is knocking me sideways.  Pretty much every single time I stand up, I have to wait a second before I feel normal.  And like.  Everything in my field of vision goes grey and fuzzy.  It's not funny.  Also, going to bed at night is becoming a project.  I am stopping fluids well before bedtime, but I still get up to pee every 10 minutes for an hour before I can fall asleep.

    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? How much is too much with this dizziness/blackout situation?  I've never felt like I was going to actually pass out, but it really freaks me out that I'll just be standing there and then I can't see for a second.  Really looking forward to discussing this with my OB next week.
  • 1. 14 weeks today!
    2. Headaches same as my last pregnancy. Waking up at night due to hunger...why oh why haha.
    3. I drank a coffee yesterday! Yummmy
@AfKash my midwife said headaches  are normal and just another symptom. If you have severe all of a sudden swelling and headache though that is not normal and should go to dr.
  • I am 13 weeks and the heartburn, omg. Even just drinking water is causing it now.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 14w 3d

    2. What are your symptoms this week? Crazy raging boob pain! My nipples are constantly on fire, and last night I tweaked my back and the pain is radiating through my right boob. Weirdest thing ever. When I woke up in the middle of the night to pee, I was almost crying when it was hurting and I couldn't get comfortable. Then DH woke up and rubbed my back until I fell asleep and he is amazing.

    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? I got my Leacho pillow yesterday and it's pretty awesome. Before, I was using just a regular pillow and threading it under my belly and through my legs. This is way better, and has support on both sides so I don't have to move the pillow when I want to turn over. And apparently it does not hinder midnight back rubs.

Same. I will get dehydrated without even realizing it! Causing my headache :(
  • 11 weeks yaaaay! Baby is the size of a lime

New symptoms? Not new but annoying because it's still happening, my heart just starts pounding when I exert myself just a little like washing the dishes or playing with DS. And this is usually just in the mornings and will go away in the afternoons. It's like my body is still trying to kick start.

    2. What are your symptoms this week? I have a kangaroo pooch... a little baby, a little bloat, a little bit of Chipotle from dinner last night, but either way its poppin' and I'm embracin'! Also, the most horrifying headache began yesterday and eased up a little but has not fully gone away... If my ears just had a pressure valve system where I could release a little from my brain by pulling on my earlobe, it would be delightful!!!

    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? Called Massage Envy to book my first massage since getting preggo and they can't get me in for two weeks... Bitches... hahahaha

  • @NiceyMeany - I'm no doctor, but it sounds like it might be related to sugar.  I've noticed that when it happens to me, it's when I haven't eaten in a while and a small glass of juice helps.  Definitely talk to your doctor, but that's my completely-non-professional advice.

    2. What are your symptoms this week? Still nauseous, tired and I want to cut my boobs off.

    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? With my first pregnancy I can count on 1 hand the number of times I was so nauseous that I was dry heaving. This pregnancy has been for like 7 weeks straight. I guess I should be grateful that I have not actually thrown up, but I expected to be better by now.

    2. What are your symptoms this week? Nausea. I've been tired but it seems like that kind of the norm with me even when I'm not pregnant.
    3. Rants/raves/questions/concerns? I hate dry heaving. If I'm going to be nauseous, I want to puke and then feel better. Dry heaving constantly is no fun. It's better than puking and not feeling better afterwards though so I'll count my blessings I suppose.

  • I am 14 weeks tomorrow.

I am no longer sick of everything but I get full incredibly quickly. (Followed by feeling gross and having heartburn) I am feeling better then before and I hope this continues. I have more bloating now which sucks because I can't suck in my stomach as much due to bloating and I am not far enough along to let it all hang out. I am now wishing I would have paid better attention to diet in the couple of months before I was pregnant. (I gained unnecessary weight as soon as starting the pill and more with additional hormones, oddly the weight has decided to stay even after stopping all meds)

Rants? None other than my bloat making me look worse than necessary.
  • 1. 15+2

    2. What I thought was my bloat pouch hardened over the last 2 days, making a very noticeable bump. Other than that I havnt had a headache for 2 days, hallelujah!! I still don't have much of an appetite, my dreams are gnarly, and I'm starting to get super bitchy being on bedrest still.

    3. I was fit and toned before pregnancy, with strong abs so I blindly assumed I wouldn't be showing this early. I know every pregnancy is different but I feel like so many FTMs didn't show until 18+ weeks, it's definitely making me gulp that I'm going to be huge even though I've only gained 3lbs so far. It's such a vain complaint, but it's really sinking in my body will never be the same and I'm having a hard time with it.
  • 1. 12+3
    2. some nausea but WAY less than before-- thank goodness. I've got a little bump and it is hard-- so crazy! also, no food sounds good. at all. I've lost 15 lbs this pregnancy but gained 7 back now that I can eat a little more.
    3. We told our family and friends this weekend! Everyone is so excited but we got a huge chorus of "I KNEW IT!" LOL!
  • I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and my main complaint is low blood pressure! I have these episodes where I feel very faint, weak and nauseated. It's not fun.

@yogadevil I hear you on the vanity front. I wasn't super fit before pregnancy, but I was on my way back. I ran a half marathon in May and I was really excited to continue getting super fit this summer. I was on a mission.

Now I feel like a fat slob. I went to yoga today and had to modify so much. Couldn't do the Vinyasa's b/c up dog felt weird in my abdomen.

Every night i feel so Lots of stomach pressure and I am pretty sure I am close to really showing and it's only 12w5d for me. I too was hoping for 18-20weeks of normal clothes. Guess not.

  • @krob I had a hard time with vinyasa work as well, I didn't like the stretchy feeling in my uterus at all. I started to modify the chataranga by going from plank to dolphin plank instead then back up to down dog, maybe that's an option for you instead? I'm glad you're modifying though! I've seen and taught so many ladies that go against recs and push too far either within asana or their flexibility while pregnant and it was scary to watch, then they either take a lot of time off or quit all together til post partum.

I hear you on the clothes front as well, I havnt bought maternity clothes yet (though I need to) but instead of rolling my comfy pants down to my hip bones theyre definitely pulled up past my belly button lol.
  • @krob I'm no expert like @yogadevil, but I definitely think you're wise to skip up-dog. In my prenatal class, they have us do table, and then a girl push-up instead of chaturanga, and then back to down dog. We don't really do many back bends at all. I've found I'm just more comfortable doing prenatal. It's still a really tough workout, but I know all the poses they give me will be safe and I don't need to worry about modifications.
  • krob said:
@yogadevil @Xstatic3333 thanks for the confirmation about up dog. I did it twice today and was like "WTF is that feeling!!!" Both your modifications sound good and have encouraged me to keep trying. Honestly I felt a little pissy afterwards today when I couldn't push myself as hard. This pregnancy is constantly teaching me that, it ain't about me anymore. LOL
Preach!! Here I thought I'd have this awesome active pregnancy, and umm, it's not looking that way at all. One day at a time :)

@Xstatic3333 you hit the nail on the head! Any deep abdominal stretching or twisting isn't a great idea at all. Even poses like dancer can give that icky uterus stretch too. Obviously any ground poses like locust or bow pulling (even though they technically rest on the hip bones) aren't good because it stretches the abs the same way as backbends no matter how subtle.

I don't have my prenatal yoga cert to teach those classes specifically, but have taught many pregnant ladies in other classes. So please for anyone that's reading, please either take a prenatal class like @Xstatic3333 mentioned or consult with your instructor in person for safe modifications while pregnant. And listen to your bodies!!
  • Oh man I have a weird one!!! The skin around my c/s scar is getting numb and tingly. It must be growing out damaged nerve area.

I posted this in randoms the other day, but deleted it because I thought it was crazy, but my stomach has been just aching for about 1 1/2 maybe 2 weeks now. It's not the normal bloat feeling, or gas or constipation. Just discomfort. But my daughter had commented last Wednesday that she could tell the baby was growing because my stomach was getting bigger. Then Friday our neighbor ended up saying something, because my daughter did first. Saturday my husband said something, and now today I'm wearing a shirt I like wearing when I'm just hanging out and I can tell my stomach has magically POPPED. I'm assuming the aching was due to sudden growth. Also over the last couple days, I've felt intense pressure on my bladder when I walk around. If I walk with a heavy foot, I fear I might pee myself, so I walk slow and gentle. This isn't cool at all considering I'm not even 1/2 there yet. Also, I'm a fellow headache sufferer right now. Despite my water intake I'm still getting dehydrated and the headaches and fatigue are killer.

  • @yogadevil I guarantee you have to be in way better shape than myself, but I was working the best I could to stay semi fit. I completely understand your feelings. Since im on my third, and my weight and body has been up and down since my first was born, I kind of have a theory. I honestly believe that if you continue to stay healthy and workout during your pregnancy, and then do the recommended safe workouts as soon as you are able after the baby comes, you can be like our BMBs personal Heidi Klum. Pregnancy for sure affects the body but a great bra will fix the boobs, and working out and eating healthy can really make a difference on the belly. I actually feel more proud of myself after a workout now than I did pre kids. Kids helped me appreciate my body in a new way, and I have a feeling you will feel the same way once baby is here. :)

  • @kswiger06 oh man, I'm definitely not Heidi Klum lol. I really havnt been able to work out much at all while pregnant. The first few weeks after finding out I absolutely did, then 6 weeks of morning sickness so I did the bare minimum, and as soon as I felt better I was put on bed rest for other reasons. I'm eating healthy so hopefully that will keep be going til I can get back in the swing of things :)

Thanks for your sweet words, especially your last few sentences!! I'm definitely taking that to heart.

I was going to ask the same thing.  I have a huge ass pimple on the side of my nose very close to the open wound from the fall.  Def don't want to pop it and risk getting my wound infected.

  • @NiceyMeany sorry I'm a little late. But to me it sounds like you might have low blood pressure. You might want to let your doctor know about this.

someone told me recently that i had that glow that people talk about pregnant woman have, i had to correct her & tell her that its all an illusion! A good foundation & highlighter! If you had of wiped off the make up im paler than a ghost & have  pimples galore! The only real glow im getting is perspirarion when i throw up! Not fun!
  • @alemarie1 I'm really struggling with bad acne currently. Seems to be getting worse by the day! Unfortunately I haven't found anything I feel comfortable with using :( Just kind of sucking it up for the time being and hoping it clears up soon
  • On the headaches, in the 12w "here's what to expect" from the bump, they state that headaches/dizziness may become more common due to change in hormones. I also asked my doctor about this at my 12 week appointment because I had a week straight of debilitating headaches. She mentioned the hormone changes, on top of not sleeping well at night can cause them. She recommended magnesium twice a day. That has helped me, but please consult with your OB before taking the advice mine gave me.

I am 12w5d, and like other FTM, thought I'd have a bit more time in normal clothes. Despite being in my last pair of normal pants, I am really excited that there's a bump since it means the baby is continuing to grow.
  • 11 weeks 5 days

Some headaches, lots of sneezing, tiredness still, dry/itchy skin, sore uterus on and off (especially near my right hip), and the new one: random pains in my pubic area down low, almost like a spasm that comes and goes (no bleeding with it).

  • I'm 12+1, and while the nausea has subsided, I'm still get periods of nausea throughout the day. Still no throwing up though, so I'm thankful for that.
My current symptoms: headaches, sciatic pain, exhausted (still!), (TMI) random days with diarrhea, and like a PP said, this ridiculous shooting pain right where the pubic area starts. It makes it hurt to use the bathroom. It's been fun.

  • Just wanted to throw some hope out there to those of you who are dealing with acne.  I've had the worst acne of my life since getting my BFP, but in the last few days, my skin has really cleared up.  It took a little messing around with my skincare routine, and I actually had to switch to gentler, natural cleansers to find something that worked.  But now my skin looks as good as ever.  It's like the last 3 months didn't even happen.  Don't give up hope, yall!

@alemarie1 I have been using Phisoderm, it seems to help for me... but the only place I can buy it is one local little grocery store or Amazon. I had impetigo a few years back and my mom said when I was a baby I had it and they prescribed Phisoderm at that time to clear it up. I have not confirmed with my dr that its ok, but everything I have found seems to say it is.

I am sooooooo excited that my nausea seems to be about 85% gone- considering it was lasting all day and night, I am thrilled with that! The headaches have seemed to start this week though, and I am noticing varicose veins on my leg already. Only my right leg for whatever reason... Gonna work on finding some compression stockings and hoping that will help.
