Thank you @bibliobebe I got the best deal on it! It was on clearance for about $12 and then I got an additional 20% off. I felt like I was stealing! The other side has a little tie on it that kind of pulls it in.
Atta girl @RG1 ... I was drooling over the cupcakes too, haha. Saw a compliment on the dress and was all "oh, was there a mama picture too? Let me wipe my drool and scroll up!" @rock agreed, you look great!!
@RG1@AnnaS930 thank you ladies! Yes, the cupcakes were so cute and also delicious. I guess they were mixed flavors. I had a strawberry cake one I think. Yum!
How many people attended? About 35-- We had a co-ed shower!
What did you wear? Floral maxi dress
Was there a theme? Woodland/Adventure-- We don't know if we're having a boy or girl.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. I could not have asked for a better shower. It was hosted by my two best friends and my mom. Unfortunately, my dad got into a serious accident two days prior so my mom had trouble delivering on her part for the food so we had a lot of people step into help and I am forever thankful for the love that they shared. It was such an amazing shower and everyone looked like they had a great time. I kept saying that I felt it was nicer than some people's weddings. It was just so amazing.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
Seeing everyone and their excitement for our baby. We also got a handmade book by one of our friends for our baby about how we were such great friends and kickball players....easily one of my favorite gifts.
What did you wear? Jean shorts and an airy cream/peach colored top.
Was there a theme? Storybooks!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was wonderful. I was overwhelmed with how much thought and love was put into the theme and decorations. The table layout for the food was all storybook/book related. Veggies for the bunnies of "Can you Guess How Much I Love You"? Moonpies for "Goodnight Moon", Sunshine pops (appricots, cream cheese, and pecans on a stick) for "You Are My Sunshine", Butterbeer and Chocolate wands for "Harry Potter", and pigs in a blanket for "These Three Piggies". There were a few more but there was so much going on these were the only ones that stuck in my mind! We got almost everything we needed off our registry plus some items we didn't even THINK about (bottle brush, anyone?). The games were cute and fun and I got to see family I don't get to see very often. An A++++ experience.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Laughing and awing and giggling with everyone over the baby stuff. Watching DH taste a bunch of different baby foods to try to guess what kind it was (best!).
Least Favorite: The shirt I wore wasn't flattering. It didn't accentuate my bump, just hung over it like a tent. I actually had to borrow it because the dress I brought (we traveled out of town for the shower) ended up being too short! I should have tried it on first but it fit last week! So, I wasn't tremendously happy with any of the pictures I was featured in, but they'll be nice to look back on later. A very small thing in comparison to all of the wonderfulness that went on today.
What did you wear? Shorts and a tshirt that said "kick me baby one more time"
Was there a theme? Try to stay cool because it's a billion degrees outside? There was a mix of "it's a boy" and safari type decorations
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Despite being outside in extreme heat, it went very well! There was a ton of food and dessert and instead of traditional games, we had raffle baskets for everyone that brought diapers. It was co-ed, so guy baskets had car cleaning kits and ladies baskets had handmade soaps. We also had bean bag toss and life size Jenga set up and the pool at my parents house was ready to go for anyone who wanted.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part was seeing everyone have a good time. I often get nervous that no one is going to have fun, but everyone did. And no one died from the heat, myself included. Least favorite part is the sore feet and back from walking around all day.
Any pictures you want to share? I didn't take any once it got started so I just have a few of the decor
What did you wear? A short little linen dress I got for $10 at Old Navy! Major steal, and made the bump look super cute.
Was there a theme? Lots of pink/black/silver with elephants and giraffes. DH was not happy about all the pink... but he still enjoyed it.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. DH was a little sad that the people from his work who said they were coming never showed, but he had his brothers there so that cheered him up. It was a really short party, only about 2 hours, but that's about all I could handle of the oohing and ahhing over presents. I HATE opening presents in front of people, it makes me so uncomfortable, so DH did most of it. We had a few games which were fun and not humiliating. DH and his brothers had a blindfolded diaper changing competition which was sooo funny, they actually really enjoyed it. DH came in second, his brother who has a daughter came in first.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favourite Part: The diaper change race was hilarious, definitely enjoyed that! Also, I have this one friend who is one of those people who has no filter and says what everyone's thinking but doesn't want to say, I love her to pieces. Her gift? A box of Magnum condoms, with a gift tag that said "Too late?". One of my grandmothers thought it was hilarious, the other one not so much. DH and I thought it was hilarious. Also, my best friend and her grandmother worked together to make the most beautiful patchwork quilt, I cried, it's absolutely stunning and you can tell they put so much effort and careful attention into it, there's not a stitch out of place. It's one of those things that was truly made with love. Least favourite part: Opening presents. It's just weird to me, to open them and then pass everything around... makes me uncomfortable but everyone wanted to do it so DH did most of the unwrapping. He let me depackage everything and put everything together when we got home though. My grandmother... ugh.. I've talked about her before, she's my late father's mother, and she is just so rude and overall just not a nice person. Literally everything we opened she had a comment to make, and nothing nice. When we passed around the quilt she commented very loudly that she "always did much nicer work when she used to quilt". And at the end she was like "When I had kids I never got things like this, it just seems like way too much". I was so relieved when she left before we cut the cake, we all had a much better time without her there.
Any pictures you want to share? My mom took most of the pictures, so I don't have any yet! Will post when I get them
