Welcome to the monthly thread/check-in for those of us TTCAL while working with an RE (or not) to address issues around Infertility, Repeat-Loss, Trouble TTC, IUI/IVF/Medicated Cycles... You get the idea!

4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?

Re: ---Trouble TTCAL : August edition---
2. Status (stims, WTO, TWW, benched, etc.) At the moment I am on estrace and estrogen patch getting ready for my FET, tentatively scheduled for 8/11.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions...Not much, things are quiet. As I've mentioned before my brain has been much calmer lately. The intense crying and deep depression of my time on birth control has finally come to an end and I'm loving life on lots of estrogen. I actually feel better emotionally than I have in a long time on the estrogen, so much so it has me wondering if I was possibly deficient in some way, though I imagine that's unlikely.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?
No solid plan, but I know for my own mental health, I'm going to need to call this TTC business a day at some point. Since we started TTC almost 5 years ago to date, I feel like I have spent so much time grieving what I thought our family was going to look like "x many kids, done with TTC by x age". I look forward to the day I feel at peace where things are at. Hopefully that happens? My therapist and I are talking about this at the moment, so it's been on my mind.
2. Status (stims, WTO, TWW, benched, etc.): 2ww, though mine is really a 10dw, and as of today is a just under 7dw!
3. Rants/Raves/Questions: I can't be the only one who has to actively restrict my Dr. Googling, right? Also: hot dogs. It's been a long while since I've had hot dogs, since DH got really sick once after eating some. We discovered this great hot dog cart on the Santa Monica Pier, and DH has been obsessed since, so I've been buying them for at home too. We have this cool griddle that is part of our stove, so I don't even need to get a pan dirty to make them!
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?: Uhm, we haven't really discussed it. We've decided that if this cycle doesn't work, we'll do another stim cycle with PGS testing. After that, it may be time to give up and discuss other options.

@AandDM2014 agree on googling. And the hot dogs thing is funny...sounds like you have a kitchen/stove I would be jealous of! Can you make pancakes on the griddle?
AFM...
1. TTC#1/AL since July 2014...so I guess we are just passing the 2-year mark. We had a loss discovered at 11w in January and a CP in June, both were from IUI cycles.
2. Stims. Menopur, Follistim, and estradiol, currently. I have acupuncture this morning and will be going to the RE tomorrow. This will be day 3 of stims for me, so I'm just hoping I respond how I'm supposed to and get a few embabies out of this. But trying not to get my hopes up.
3. Do have some questions right now. I am finding the Follistim pretty easy to inject, but the Menopur is tougher. I've had DH do it because it's hard for me to manage the syringe--it's a 1 mL syringe and we have to inject 1 mL of meds, so the plunger is really far out and I find it hard to do a steady & fast injection. Even when he does it, it doesn't go all that fast. Any tips? And looking ahead, if you had an intramuscular trigger shot, did your partner do it? My RE office will draw a circle on me so he gets the spot right, but they also offer to have a nurse come to your house and do it (it costs more, but in the scheme of things not a lot). I'm wondering if that would be less stress, although DH is totally willing.
4. I really don't know. We are racing against losing our insurance coverage that has partial infertility coverage at the end of September. If this IVF fails and we lose that insurance, we might go back to IUIs, we might take a break, I don't know. I didn't feel quite ready for IVF, although now that I'm started, I feel better. Another one isn't off the table for us, but I just don't know if we would take a little break or what, since it'd be out of pocket entirely after we lose this particular coverage. I never thought I would do IVF, and here I am, so who knows.

@AandDM2014 Excited for the days ticking down in your "2ww"!
2. Status (stims, WTO, TWW, benched, etc.): TWW, 9dpIUI. Beta is on Thursday. Not reading into anything too much, because progesterone mirrors my pregnancy symptoms so much. Just have to wait and see. Either I am or I'm not!
3. Rants/Raves/Questions: had a great weekend, totally rearranged, repainted and redecorated our living room yesterday. Looks great! Was a lot of work, but DH was motivated and we had fun doing it together. I took today off because I want to run some errands to finish it up.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles? We have talked about this numerous times. We have decided we can only make the decision when it's actually time, not in advance. Our plan right now, if this one didn't take is to try two more IUIs, then we would discuss IVF with a donor egg and adoption.
@AandDM2014 lay off the Google!
@BornReady so glad you're feeling better. I can't imagine the extra crazy BCPs would add to my already-nutty head! Happy you can look forward to next week!
@BrightenMySky I wonder if you can request a larger syringe. My injectables came from Walgreens specialty pharmacy and weren't that small. It does sound challenging! My SIL gives me all my shots, and lives really nearby so I'm lucky because while DH could do it, I think we would likely both be more anxious about it. I would lean to the nurse doing it if the cost isn't prohibitive, peace of mind may be worth it!

3. Rants/Raves/Questions sooooo bored. Just waiting around.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?
i said last week that I will only do 3 rounds of clomid before calling it and moving on. I meant to IVF for 1 try and DH thought I meant for good and we woild be done trying and panicked. He wants to try forever but that's all easy on him. I feel a ton of pressure to keep going but i can't handle any more losses. I know failing RE treatments will be just as much stress. I would only do one round of IVF and if that doesn't work I'm done. He wants kids so bad and I was against it for years. If we go through comps and IVF with no luck, combine that will all my issues and I will know I was against it for a reason. I have a feeling if it gets to that point it may create a huge problem in or marriage so I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!
@SnobunnieMel been thinking of you. Waiting for results is the worst.
1. Intro: TTC #1 for two years now, 1 CP & 1 MC
2. Status (stims, WTO, TWW, benched, etc.):
WTO, CD14. This was probably my last round on 200mg of Clomid + hcg trigger. Today my follicles weren't mature enough for the shot and the nurse thinks it was an anovulatory cycle so it looks like I am moving onto shots next month.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions:
My second EDD was yesterday and I was ok until my appointment this morning. I really don't want to be the person who is bitter and resentful of others and their babies; I'm literally the best at faking happiness for people I don't care about but it's exhausting. I am genuinely happy for some friends/family but other than that, I feel like I am starting to slip towards being really cynical about this whole thing.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?
We are pretty much willing to do whatever it takes. I have to call our insurance again to see if/what part of IVF they cover but regardless, we'd do it. I don't know how many times we'd do it and I feel like we are far enough away from that but not so far where we shouldn't talk about it.
@BornReady - I am glad you are feeling better after getting off BCP. FX for your FET
@AandDM2014 and @fivetimesnoluck - I really hope this one is it for both of you! FX!
@SnobunnieMel - I'm sorry you're in that place. I know that for me I am always thinking about whether or not it was meant to be. I question why I ever got pregnant in the first if it wasn't meant be, then question if it was meant to be, why hasn't it happened. It's a terrible mind game. I hope the results come back soon and are favorable.

@snobunniemel The waiting part of working on testing/treatment is brutal. Just killing time. FX you get some answers on DH's genetic screening soon and you can get some ideas for moving forward.
@fivetimesnoluck thanks. I had monitoring this morning, and my RE gave me some larger syringes, and also said I can mix it in 1/2 mL instead of 1 mL. That may sting a little more, but I'm planning to try it, because the idea of only having to inject half the volume is pretty appealing. Fingers crossed for you, hope the rest of the tww goes by quickly! (Same for you @AandDM2014 on the tww!)
@Aera11 hugs about your due date. I have also been feeling pretty cynical lately. I hope you have the time and space to feel what you need to feel. I hear you that faking enthusiasm is so exhausting.
@BornReady I agree, I don't think I'll ever get over infertility and loss, even if I am one day fortunate to have both full arms and a full heart.
My monitoring this morning was ok. I feel like my RE is very relaxed in a way that I generally like, but I am also starting to worry that he is hiding bad news from me, like everything is going terribly and he just doesn't want to stress me out, which I know is basically bordering on irrational (kind of like impostor syndrome). We'll see what the bw says and if I have to change up my meds. And even if I do have to change the doses, I am trying to tell myself that it's a learning process and the point is to make these adjustments to try to get the best response my body can give.
If everything goes well and I am able to do a fresh transfer, it might end up being right around my due date for my first pregnancy. One of my coworkers yesterday asked me if the due date was coming up, and it felt so good to have someone else acknowledge it. I feel like I'm going to get all of these birthday wishes (also right around the due date) and get really sad that even the people who know about that loss seem to have forgotten.

2.) Right smack dab in the middle of RPL testing. My first 9 blood tests looked great! Still waiting on AMH and APL and karotype tests.
3.) Today is my HSG which I'm dreading. These antibiotics I'm on are making me nauseous. Haven't scheduled my saline sonogram yet, but I'd imagine it would have to be this week since they do it CD 6-12 typically. I am a little less concerned about scarring after I had a lighter but seemingly normal AF. Drinking my raspberry tea like crazy in hopes that it helps build up normal lining.
4.) GTKY We are just in the beginning stages working with an RE so we haven't set any real limits yet. We did decide that unless my AMH was shockingly low or the RE gives us another reason for concern that we would try again naturally. If I have a 3rd MC due to chromonsonal abnormality, we will do IVF +PGS. We've also decided that if I have another pregnancy with abysmal beta at 6 weeks that we would go to Family Planning Associates and get cytotech there if my OB won't prescribe bc there's a HB. It's absolutely heartbreaking and horrible, but my body holds on to bad pregnancies a long time. I can't have another D&C at 12 weeks and I can't keep wasting my few fertile years I have left on bad pregnancies. So that may be a limit that I have that others do not.
@bornready your FET is so soon! Fx everything goes smoothly up to that point!
@BrightenMySky I totally empathize with the need to use your fertility coverage while you ha rut. We've had amazing coverage at my job for 10 years, but every year they threaten to get rid of it. Part of the reason we decided on testing now was bc we knew insurance would pay for it. Fx everything goes well for you!
@Aera11 I'm so sorry about you disappointing cycle.
@fivetimesnoluck Sending good vibes your way!! I'm hoping for a BFP from you this week!
I've been on the site for a few months, but first time posting to this type of thread. MMC confirmed 3/31, D&C 4/2, TTCAL May 2016. Still seeing regular OB, but considering seeing RE if I don't get BFP by October.
2. Status (stims, WTO, TWW, benched, etc.)
Surprise AF on Saturday, so waiting to O. On CD 4, so just took this cycle's first Clomid pills this morning.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions
I have a huge jealousy issue with other people who are doing well with pregnancy or have children. I'm happy for them, but envious because I don't have my own. I really wish my cycles were easier to track. I really don't know how many days each one will be. The last one was 60 days, this one was 40. I'm also disappointed that I didn't get pregnant last cycle. I was really really praying for it. I was really sick with tonsillitis last cycle, and skipped out on about 6 days of BD. I know that was the reason why, but I guess I was kind of being superstitious because the last time I got pregnant, I was TTC while I was sick. So much for being hopeful.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?
For religious/personal moral reasons, we will do anything except IVF. I know it works for so many people, but it's just not right for me and my DH. We've strongly considered adoption if we can't conceive on our own. This is such a depressing thing to think about... I hope it doesn't ever get to this point, but we have talked about it. If all else fails, we are going to be dog parents, I guess and travel a lot. Wow, that really kills me to even think about our last options.

3. Rants/Raves/Questions Just so much. I've googled and read as much as I can. We are going forward with IVF/ PGD and hoping for healthy embryos. We were told we are good candidates. I'm nervous about so many things.
4. GTKY: Do you and DH/Partner have a plan for how "far" you are willing to go with treatment cycles?
Yes - Right now that plan is to try for IVF for 1 cycle and see what happens. If we want to continue we will try another cycle. If we are unsuccessful and want to ttc naturally again we have a backup plan of using this doctor in maryland who can test early ( this is a very new test- but legit) and we already paid him money for our specific genetic probe. This is also the backup plan if by some chance I get pregnant naturally in between. Either way there is no way in hell I'm waiting till 17 weeks for them to tell me my baby is ok.

AFM- I just had a great HSG- tubes open and no evidence of scarring. My consult with the RE isn't for 2 weeks bc we are waiting on DHs karotype. I may try to go early because I'm really curious about my blood test results. So as I mentioned last month, my FSH was 5.8 and my LH/FSH ratio was 1.4- DHEA-S and testerone were both in normal range, but my AMH is like 10.5- which is the exact opposite of what I was worried about as a 37 year old. I'm very concerned that this means PCOS, because I do have the hair growth and thinning head hair, BUT I've had normal periods the 5 cycles off the pill before we TTC. I get pregnant basically whenever I've tried, so I feel like I don't really have PCOS, but what is with the AMH score? Is it just that I'm like packed with eggs at 37? I'm not complaining if that is the case- I'm just confused. I'm thinking about moving up my consult to get answers more quickly!

@BornReady things are going ok, thanks for asking. Started ganirelix this morning. Have been going in every other day. My arms are getting bruised from the draws, and I'm pretty bloated. Yesterday I had two follicles on each side all the same size. I keep telling myself that it's quality over quantity, and it's also possible there will be more measurable ones to be seen. Doing acupuncture and trying to keep stress down. Excited for your FET!

@SnobunnieMel I'm on 200mg of Clomid and go in for a CD3 scan if I had an anovulatory cycle, otherwise I just go in CD14 (and then again if there aren't follicles measuring 18 or larger) and then CD28 to see my RE. This was hopefully my last round of Clomid before I move onto shots. I started at 50 and have now done 3 cycles at 200 and I know they usually don't recommend a higher dosage.
Question: has anyone done injectable gonadotropin (<---- that word is annoying to type)? It is sounding like that is the next course of action for me but I won't know for sure until I see my RE next Friday.
