Re: FFFC!!! 8/5

  • My husband works 3rd shift on rotating days so half the time I sleep alone. Well he's been home the last 2 nights and I kinda started using him as sort of a body pillow. I've been putting one leg over him and it makes my belly feel better lol. But tonight I'm going to get an actual pillow cause I can't take not sleeping anymore. I wake up, roll around, have to pee at 5am, and then don't go back to sleep at all. Sucks!

  • My FFFC: I have horrible patience while driving. I hate driving. I always make my husband drive because it gives me such anxiety. This morning was the worse. I was so thankful to have gotten to work because I was angry the entire time I was driving. That cannot be healthy!

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

  • I ate a can of ravioli for breakfast this morning. We were out of chocolate chip pop-tarts and I'm not really into breakfast foods anyway. (With the exception of bacon and fried potatoes/hashbrowns.)

  • @bdesterhouse I've been SOOOO much more ragey when driving now. I always got annoyed at other drivers but now it's so much worse and I was just thinking the other day "this can't be healthy, I need to calm down". I also make my husband drive when we're together, I just wish he could drive me everywhere lol.

@MonaLisaRalphio agree that they are just people. I thought it was all in fun spirit, so I didn't find it creepy or bragging. Now when there are the stalker crazy folks that turn them into Gods, yes creepy. I could never get on board with the whole celebrity crush/obsession bandwagon. My mom fan girls over some celebs and it creeps me out.
  • I keep convincing H we can't afford the family vacations we keep getting invited to.
    We can.
I just don't want to be stuck with them for more than a day.
Yeah, I love our families, but the idea of going away with either for a week would stress the heck out of me. So glad they haven't started trying for that yet.

  • Me and H are possibly planning on moving out of state when he finishes school next year. The main reason is we miss living out of state and being able to make our own family traditions. The last two years celebrating holidays with family has just felt like work. Now that we're about to have our second kid we want to be able to celebrate the holidays the way that we want to, like we did the first few years of our marriage.

I kind of feel like a giant ass for wanting to move our family away and have our parents and relatives miss out on our kids childhood, but we also kind of hate the politics that are involved. We're the only ones with kids and no one seems to be considerate of the fact that we want to create our own traditions (i.e.: waking up at our house to open our kids gifts Christmas morning, etx).
  • @bdesterhouse I have awful road rage.  My DH tells me I'm going to get shot someday because I flip people off all the time.  Thankfully I started commuting to work by train recently so I don't have to drive nearly as much.  It might save my sanity!

My FFFC: I haven't done work for the past few days.  I have a bunch to do, especially since I was off all last week, but I can't seem to motivate myself to do it.  Instead I've been lurking here, Facebooking, reading my new book, pretty much anything to avoid actual work.

  • @WinchesterGirl that drives me insane as well! It's one thing moving back to save for buying a house, losing a job, or other extenuating circumstances, but just to mooch? Nope, not ok.

Me me and my older sister have a bit of resentment towards our parents, because they are enablers of my little sister. The worst part is they are in complete denial and in return our little sister acts so entitled. It makes me cringe knowing there is an entire generation growing up the same way.  :s
  • So this seems an appropriate time to share in regards to adults living with their parents. We don't live with our parents, but in May our best friends bought a ridonkulously large house with the idea that we all live together. So in June we moved in. It's a little awkward explaining it to other people but it's a great situation for all of us. We aren't mooching, we pay half the bills including the mortgage, and when we move out they will give us half of the equity they made (essentially) from their savings. The plan is 3-5 years. :)

  • @kirstynikole I have several really bad examples in mine and DH'S families. My oldest brother lived with my parents for YEARS because he was "too qualified" to take an entry level position somewhere. This entailed the fact that he once did a 1 month stint as a manager at an auto parts store. Uhm, ok.

DH has a family member that has intentionally let their house go into FC (bought a new car, then quit their job because they didn't want to work anymore and just stopped paying the mortgage) and moved back into their parents' house with spouse and multiple children.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @WinchesterGirl are you my ex-SIL because that sounds just like her brother! He became depressed because he couldn't get the job he wanted right out of college (working on making video games) and was too smart to take an entry level position.

I think if you have a legit reason to be living with your parents (like saving for a home for a defined period of time) that's one thing but to just mooch is annoying.

  • DH is leaving on a 10 day missions trip tomorrow morning, and I'm a little angry/emotional/upset at him. Even though we've know for a year that he was going, now I'm pregnant with #3, and he's leaving me all alone with the older two, my constant need to barf, and our 2 dogs. I'm proud of him for going and the work he will be doing, but he can't leave his irrationally emotional and nauseous pregnant wife for 10 days!
  • My husband has to go to Mexico for a work trip next week. His work sends him like once a month for some "emergency" and it makes me irrationally angry. This time it really is an emergency but part of me doesn't really believe it.
  • We lived with my ILs for a few months in between our lease ending in an apt (they wanted an exorbitant amount for month to month) and buying our house.
They were super easy going but there can only be one queen in every castle....

@CurlyCupcake21 Nope sorry, I'm boring and only been married the once. It is amazing how many people have family members who do the same stuff, though.

@Gingersnap A short time for a reason, I get. I could never live with my in-laws, so as I already suspected you are a brave woman!
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • I woke up to dog puke all over the fireplace hearth and living room rug. H put the dog in her crate before he left for work so it had to be there when he was getting ready. And somehow he didn't see it. Although 10 hours will have passed by the time H gets home I am still so angry it will be hard not punch him square in the jaw when he walks through the door.
  • I really don't want a baby shower because the idea of not being in control and being the center of attention freak me out completely.  I didn't let my mom throw me a bridal shower for these reasons...  I told her that if I ever got pregnant, she could do the baby shower.

  • My epi with both my kids were amazing and I would NEVER consider all natural. Nope, so thankful to be living in a time period that I get the choice. I think if I didn't have the epidural I would have died having my son. They cut me off for a few hours so I could feel my contractions and I thought I was literally dying from the pain. Anyone who goes totally med free gets a huge amount of respect from me.

  • @MLRocha I'm the exact same way. My bridal shower was really hard for me being the center of attention, everyone awkwardly staring at you as you open gifts. I know I will still have a baby shower just because my family is already so excited to celebrate this baby, but I'm already dreading that attention again. I have honestly gotten anxiety every time we have told someone about the pregnancy so far for this exact same reason.

My nurse advised me to only hit the magical button when the pain got too much, and so I only did it once.
It hurt, but I can't imagine how much worse it would have been!

  • FFFC: Unless it's a once-in-a-while occasion, I don't think young kids should be awake past 9pm MAX.  I understand that some people might have weird work schedules or circumstances might make that difficult.  But kids need a lot of sleep and it annoys the everloving shit out of me to see little kids awake because their parents "keep them up later so they'll sleep in late the next day."

DS goes to bed at 7:30 every night and wakes at 6:30.  Do I wish I could sleep more?  Hell yes.  But it's not like lack of sleep with little kids is brand new information, people.

You have little kids.  They wake up early.  Get over it.
We are pretty relaxed about bedtime but past 9 is definitely for special occasions, but we've had a lot of fun late nights this summer. Typically it's in bed by 8 but she sleeps until 8 or 9 most days.
But I worked retail last holiday season and I can not tell you how many people had toddlers out shopping at 10pm. Of course the kids were beyond tired and acting up so the parents were always yelling. It was so sad to see.
  • You're the first person I've ever run into who got me on this! Nice!

Part of the equation for me is that I have really wide hips. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything about how my labor will go, but it gives me a lot of false confidence about my ability to handle it, and I figure that can't hurt.

Yes to both of you on this
  • I guess my confession is that the main reason I want to go med-free is that I am terrified of the idea of having something injected into my spine. Significantly more terrified than I am of the idea of pushing a watermelon through my vagina. I'm also a quite bit scared of not feeling my legs, though I have been told it doesn't always go down that way.
Yep this was/is me to a T. Keep your needles away from my spine, please and thanks.

  • Haha! omg, @Xstatic3333, I TOTALLY get you. I have the same false confidence. I'm always joking about how I've got birthing hips.

But yeah, don't ever stick a needle in my spine, and I definitely am uncomfortable with the idea of not being able to feel my legs. That's terrifying to me.
