FFFC inspired by the randoms thread: I'm not going to the dentist while pregnant. I'm terrified of the dentist and I feel like I already have enough to stress over with this pregnancy that I've decided that I will not be putting my big girl panties on to go to the dentist. I will just go in Feb, post-baby. And brush/floss extra good until then.
when I got my epidural (after 7 hours of swearing screaming and crying from induced contractions) that "can't feel my legs" sensation to me felt more like a nice fuzzy warm blanket on my legs, it was bliss. Got to take a nap even before I delivered. It wasn't like the feeling you get when your legs fall asleep that feeling sucks.
Yep, count me aboard the no-spine-injections, no-dentist train. Before I got pregnant the first time it had been eight years since I'd gone to a doctor as well. Guess that's my FFFC
My dentist annoys the shit out of me because they call all the time wanting me to come in every six months. But you know what. I have never had a cavity in my entire 33 years, I have no gum problems, and I don't build plaque or tartar and I go to the dentist once a year. So no, you don't need to see me every six months. Settle down.
With my epidural, it really wasn't that bad. I mean, it's a needle so there's a sting and you can't move at all while they are inserting it, which is probably the hardest part. But it's over quickly and the numbness in my legs didn't feel too weird.
Just a fun little note about epidurals: not only do you go numb but you lose control of everything down there. I could hear myself farting and I had no way to stop it.
Just....farts and tons of giggles. Because I'm 12.
I hate needles, but I am all for anything to take pain away. I am a sissy when it comes to cramping or pain down there. I can handle cuts, scraps, and a few punches on the upper body but any type of pain in the lady area and I turn into the biggest cry baby. I know I make women look weak, sorry ladies I'm letting you down.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
Also, I let my son go to bed when he wants. He is the worlds best sleeper at night and if he does get up early, its usually to come snuggle and then him and I both fall back asleep till like 10am. This is only done on weekends though, gotta have a routine during the week.

You're letting nobody down! We're lucky to live in a time of choices about labor, and the best choice is the one that has a healthy baby at the end.
I'm also one for wanting meds during birth. I think it's great that we live at a time where there are so many options with birth that women can choose which one is right for them!
My FFFC I always lock my computer before leaving my cube at work and today not only did I forget to lock it but I left The Bump up on the screen... Oops. I haven't told anyone I'm expecting but I work with mostly men so I'm guessing if anyone did see they just assumed I was slacking off on a forum and had no clue what it was a forum for. Hopefully no one saw, I was only away for ~45min.
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
Going med free didn't even hurt that bad. I mean it hurt, but I've been in more pain before. It actually felt GOOD to push compared to contractions.
My daughter is 6 and is in bed by 7:30 every night and sleeps until 7:30 every morning. I don't want her staying up later because I want time to read at night and then time with DH!
I give so much credit to those who do a pain-medicine free delivery. I don't think I could do it. I'm so happy to live in a time when each person can choose what is best for them.

Me: 31+ H: 32 TTC Since 11/2015 #1 - MMC 6.5 weeks (2/16); #2 - MC due to cystic hygroma at 20 weeks (10/16); #3 CP (2/17); #4 - Due 12.16.17
My kid goes to bed at 7pm every night and wakes up at 6:30am. On special occasions we've left him stay up and if he goes to bed at 8pm or 9pm or 10pm, he's up at 6:30am and just cannot function because he's so damn tired. It's just rarely* worth it.
*FFFC #2 - My kid is staying up late this weekend because it's convenient for me. We are going to a water park hotel this weekend and because we are sharing a room and he's going to be sleeping in a regular bed (he's still in a crib at home), I'm letting him stay up as late as possible to try to ensure that he sleeps thru the night. Fingers crossed he's not a monster the next morning. I'm hoping the lure of the water park makes him more pleasant.
@Tennis11785 I give as much credit to those who choose an epidural. You are making a choice that is right for you and having your birth your way. There is nothing less real or amazing about a birth with pain meds or a c-section.
A woman being empowered to choose the birth that she wants is the best option whether that is med-free or not. (I am not including birth choices that endanger the lives of mom or baby-ex. refusing necessary interventions, giving birth completely alone/unassisted)

This was so me. I know farting is natural and those nurses has seen far worse, but I stopped mid push because I farted and laughed.....and then my husband laughed and it made me mad.
Maybe my FFFC should be that if I didn't get married to DH a year after graduating college, I would have totally lived with my parents as long as they let me. I travelled about half my year for work, and worked crazy long hours most of the time, so i was hardly ever there anyway.
My real FFFC is my kid constantly eats food she drops on the floor. I tried to stop it for a long time....but I gave up. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. (This only applies at home - I would never let her eat food off the floor out to eat). We do sweep every night after dinner, swiffer every few days, and steam mop every two weeks....so it can't be THAT bad....right?
@angeltennis3 yeah my kid eats a lot of floor food at home too. It's on the list of things I thought I'd never let him do.. But whatever. He's a real healthy kiddo and I clean a lot so ... C'est la vie.
I spent $300 at costco today and essentially got nothing. I mean, I got a ton, but I couldn't make meals out what I got so I still need to do a full grocery shop to tie all the random stuff together into meals lol and $300 is our grocery budget. So budget blown on account of impulse bulk shopping.
Another one, in light of all the epi talk, I HATED the epidural. I would do 10 natural deliveries before getting an epi again. I felt so incredible after my natural delivery, got up and showered and felt 100% normal within half an hr. Would trade that for anything.

I had the same experience with an epi.
My epi made me feel terrible, and I ended up with an emergency c section, so in my mind the epi is tied in with a horribly traumatic birth where I didn't regain feeling below my chest for hours. So, granted, my epi dislike is fueled by more than disliking the epi sensation.

That sounds awful! I wasn't trying to question your experience, hope I didn't come across that way. I just know I was very nervous about the epi and wanted to give a positive example for anyone considering an epi but is anxious about it.
I'm so jealous of people who can skip days washing their hair. I have super fine, thin hair (like 1/2 inch ponytail). I put dry shampoo in my hair immediately after I wash it, it definitely doesn't extend time between cleanings though.
My FFFC: I've become dependent on milk of magnesia twice a week. I'm going to ask for my OB's blessing on Monday. I will probably proceed without his blessing if I don't get it.
Growing up, my grandparents had an A-Frame cottage that we spent a lot of time at. The bedrooms were upstairs and the stairs were VERY steep and VERY awkward. Since the cottage was so small, usually people were sleeping in the living area on the main floor. Because of those factors, my grandma had what she called her "thunder jug" to pee in in the middle of the night. I'm not saying I'm at thunder jug level (or will I ever be With a bathroom across the hall), but dang, I wish I could get down with a thunder jug these days...

Hahaha no lie, I have wistfully thought of the Victorian era and all its chamber pot glory..
Confession inspired by the Randoms: this is my second kid and I think I'll be having a baby shower. Two of my friends excitedly started talking about it when I told them and DS will be almost 8, so...
