Walk through of the town house was today and it took way longer than it should have so we are putting off installing the car seat AGAIN. I swear I'll be in labor before this damn thing actually gets put in
I was at the store tonight and this 10 year old boy crossed my path and could not take his eyes off my belly, he even did a 180 as I walked away. I felt like such a mutant
@MrsVoorhees I guess I should clarify that my mother has offered to quit her job and retire early (she hates her job, lol) and we are going to pay her to be our nanny. So she just asked that we do the research on what daycare costs average as well as nannies. She claims she doesn't want us to pay that much but she wants us to treat this like a business deal since we will be paying her so she wants us all to be informed. Lol.
@RedMar Thanks for helping me cross 1 thing off my list! Even if it is on hold until baby arrives, that is one less thing I don't have to worry about right now then. The life insurance is meant for DH and I to increase OURS to help ensure baby is taken care of.
Sorry for making other FTM feel overwhelmed or behind too! But I appreciate your sharing in my pains a little, haha. Sorry, it is just a lot to take in. Why didn't I think to do all of this when I first found I was pregnant and felt it was going to be the longest year ever?!

Whew @blondie080300 your list made MY head spinny. Maybe you can prioritize and set need by / goal dates? And try to figure out what you can delay until mat leave (i.e. Savings account, will/insurance update, completion discounts). Move reading "the womanly art" down the list, an LC is your best help in the beginning and kelly mom and bump will help you with immediate questions. And I hope hypnobirthing practice helps you focus / center / relax! You've got this. Baby doesn't need much more that diapers, car seat, and you at first. Everything else will come together, putting together a list is already a head start.
@blondie080300 not to add another thing to your list, but life insurance isn't a bad idea for the babe either. We did a plan that has a return of premium so he can put that money toward college/house/wedding or a pony (lol), whatever he needs it for down the road. Also, he'll always have the same rate as it's fixed, so he won't have to worry about applying when he's our age and getting the premium rate.
Stuck in the quote box but you win the Internet today!!! This is now my new favorite song. I have shared it with DH and on FB. Thank-you for sharing!!!

@blondie080300@jas1982 Aw, thanks ladies! I'm glad I can get across some of the insanity/hilarity I enjoy regularly.
@blondie080300 I understand your feeling of not having enough time to do everything! We still have to paint the nursery, have the baby shower, go to the BFing and infant care class, install the carseats, clean out the garage (still full of unpacked boxes from our move), prepare labor bag and so on. And on top of that I have work I have to finish before LO gets here so I can concentrate 100% on little boy and not worry about projects!
It's just more proof that we're definitely heading into the home stretch!
Wowza! This thread sure does move FAST!! I got really caught up at work the last two weeks, had my shower on the weekend and my mother's surprise visit so I barely checked any social media for the last week or so. I feel like I really missed a lot though in that time away! There were over 650 posts here by the time I could actually take the time to sit down and read!
I can't believe that we are SO close to having these babies and that some of us are having them in the next week or so! Plus little Finley who is just beautiful I'm not going to tag for fear of missing someone but to all of those with inductions planned, contraction scares, babies turned breech at the last minute, bleeding and possibly very soon births, etc, my thoughts are with you all!
The cat story / crazy neighbor was just ridiculous and made me feel ragey that someone would even attempt such craziness! You don't mess with someone's fur baby!!
I am so done with work and am counting down the work days - only 11 left then I am on leave until September 2017 (yay Canada!). I can barely muster the energy to show any motivation at the moment. I have lost of chunk or two of my mucus plug, my hands are tingly and / or achy almost constantly now, my engagement ring doesn't want to fit my sausage fingers, my little guys feet are ramming my ribs and my list of 'to-dos' rivals @blondie080300 at the moment!
Crossing my fingers that my nesting instinct kicks in in time for me to get everything accomplished that I want to before my Sept 13 EDD. I'd like for this little guy to keep to the ideal schedule in my mind and not come too early or too late! Is that too much to ask?
I don't check in for most of ONE day and have 130+ comments to read.
Happy thoughts to all of the mamas going through scares/contractions/bleeding. I'm glad that everyone seems to have everything under control.
@JennM205 I'm with others in thinking (and hoping) that they use a pronoun just to avoid things like 'it'.
I'm seriously laughing out loud at the butt baby reference. D14 was the shit, and had so much controversy around it. Sometimes I miss the days when you could be a snarky b and not get banned, but our board is so supportive and generally awesome that I can't hardly wish for anything else.
@blondie080300 I think it's totally normal, esp as a FTM, to feel that way. As long as you have a place for baby to sleep, clothes for baby to wear, and milk for baby to drink, you're good!
Sorry to rant and dash earlier, everyone! I got super busy at work...was able to log on and throw some love its around but that was about it.
Thanks for all the support following my frustrating appt. I feel so much better now that some time has passed and the sting has lessened and all of your kind words (and reassurance that OB may not even know baby's sex in the first place) contributed to that!
My day got even better this afternoon when I picked DD up from daycare - and was surprised with some pretty sunflowers from her daycare lady's garden. There were two - one for me and one for baby, DD said. Then, on the way home she told me, "Miss Diane (her daycare lady) did my hair today. It's like a messy bagel." I said, "A messy bagel...? Oh, wait do you mean a messy bun?" To which she laughed and responded, "Oh. Yeah. A messy BUN!" Lol!
@blondie080300 I physically wrote out my to do list on 3 sheets of paper and pinned them to the wall over our giant monthly calender. It was very overwhelming at first but I have to say that the satisfaction I get from actually scratching one task off the list and watching the scratched out items grow is very comforting! Maybe doing something like that would help you?
@csukkha congratulations!!! I just saw your birth announcement. Looks like now we have 2 adorable little boys that have joined the board! Issac is such a cutie!
@VeraMali Good suggestion on this list, I think I am going to prepare one this weekend. I too like the satisfaction of crossing off items once completed and and added bonus is my fiancé can see the list too and help out! I have to remind myself that he's not a mind reader.
Ahhhhhh, in the three weeks between finishing work and my EDD, I need to finish a lot of things!! Crossing my fingers for a big energy burst then!!
@csukkha Congratulations!!!! I hope you are doing just fine. Fin has S'16 buddy now! I just PMed you.
Thanks ladies for giving me tons of entertaimment during pump wakes. I'm not posting as much but I'm here keeping up with you all!
Also, really, you guys rock for keeping Finley in your thoughts and being so sweet about the situation. Thank you. I appreciate all the comments and mentions- it truly helps in this situation, as silly as it sounds!
@Sbrown721 Yes, you have a Fin inside of you!! I couldn't believe it either. I still can't. They are oh so perfect tiny humans, from their micro nails to their perfectly crafted eye lashes. Just thinking of Fin's tiny humanness gives me chills. It's pretty powerful stuff.
AHHH @csukkha - good work mama, look at that little man! Love his meaty thigh in the picture, congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! Finley and Isaac, our own little batman and robin. Love to both of the S16 boys!
Happy Friday everyone! It's another day where I'm hoping to be super productive.. Doubtful, but I have high hopes.
@blondie080300 Oh gosh. As I read your to do list, it dawned on me that I was mentally adding almost all of those things to my own. Now i feel overwhelmed. You can do it, girl!
@csukkha CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I also love his meaty thighs and can't wait to hear more updates on how you both are doing.
And I do like the idea of putting my 'to do' list up on the wall. I currently have it in my notepad on my iPhone. DH does want to help and said we should get a giant wipe board to hang. I will add purchasing and hanging said wipe board to his list though.
Happy Friday, Ladies!!!!

@blondie080300 H and I use the "wunderlist" app. You can have it on desktop and mobile and you can share lists with people. So we have a bunch of to do lists on there that we can both see - home (chores and stuff), home improvements (long term stuff we want to do), baby, hospital bag, grocery list. So when we think of something we can add it and we can both see things and check it off. You can also set due dates and reminders for tasks if you want. We love it and maybe it would work for you
@blondie080300 - that's awesome that you have a parent that is going to watch your little man! Hooray! I think researching daycare expectations/costs is a great idea going into it. Here's one thing I suggest (I use a daycare, and people who use family members are often jealous of this). At the end of each day we get a 1/2 sheet of paper that has the following info on it:
- Times that baby napped - Times of diaper changes with "wet" or "BM" circled - Times of feedings/ounces eaten
For the first year, my husband was home on Tuesdays with Emmett and me on Wednesdays - it was hard to remember the timings of things and kinda helped transition into the evening knowing how things had gone. Some might find the info to be overkill, but if you have it printed out where she can just fill in the blanks it only takes a second and sounds like she wants to be business-like
Also, good to know prices as you might want to transition him into a daycare in a year or two for more socialization/giving grandma a break, etc.
