I am very proud of myself as I joined a local gym today so I can get some solid swimming in the last month of pregnancy. Also, they have free day care that overlooks the pool. Soooo excited to have a little "me time" while getting in a good, non-strenuous work out.
In other news, our tenant went into labor today (her water broke last night). Why this is a big deal is she's not due until the 15th! Shit just got seriously real for me!!
I applied for a few part time jobs a couple months ago just so I could fill my time. One just called me for an interview today. lol I'm totally going to go but man they couldn't have called me when I applied?
Had what felt like a huge mommy win today. I had an appt with the Endocrinologist at 1:15. Terrible time for an appt with a toddler. However, I got McKenna down for an early nap, took lots of snacks with us, and got lunch after the appointment. She was so good, and it couldn't have gone smoother!
Hey as someone who has just started joining in, I'm feeling a little defensive. Maybe this person didn't find this place til well into their pregnancy? I personally was terrified to come near it due to superstition and previous losses. We didn't even announce until 16.5 weeks and that was the first time I looked in.... But didn't do anything because we had a move to plan and manage. Post move it still took me three weeks of lurking to get the courage to post anything at all and sometimes it comes across as a closed club. Mostly I'm happy to know that symptoms and other milestones I'm going through are common.... But try to be welcoming to the rest of us, even if we haven't been here the whole time, ok?
@CantanteLirica - Welcome. I don't recognize you at all! The thing that irks me about her post was that she could have easily created a Monday Bitchfest (which is a weekly thread in which we ALL complain) but instead felt the need to create her own thread. To me, that just shows a lack of understanding of the community she's joining, and she also didn't really introduce herself prior. It's sort of the internet equivalent inserting yourself into a well established group and instead of saying "hi, I'm Lisa, here is my complaint in the appropriate conversation about complaining!" she went "oh listen to me complain about something, by the way, I'm Lisa." I have no problem with people joining late in the game, but if the second of a persons post is literally just a complaint, it doesn't really show that they are interested in being involved in the community - and that can be kind of off putting. We have established relationships here and are looking for other people who want a true community - not just those who suddenly need to get things off their chests and bounce. We don't know her, so how can we tell if she is a drive-by or planning on sticking around?
I don't hold anything personal against the poster, and if she wants to I hope she sticks around and learns a bit about how things work here.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and nice words. She's still in the er but waiting for a bed to open up so they can move her. They want to keep her for observation for 24 hours. All the tests they have ran have come back negative (or positive?) Either way they have come back with the result that rules out a stroke. She's in good spirits for the most part. She's stressing out that they won't let her go to Mexico City (scheduled to leave on Wednesday night) for the family reunion but mainly she's grumpy because she's hungry and they won't let her eat. They believe it was a side effect/reaction to a medicine she takes once a month and she's supposed to take it with lots of water. She may have drank too much water too fast
Guys.. I have a lot of work to do. Tomorrow I gotta come on at LEAST for my Tuesday ticker change.. but if I'm all over this thread.. someone yell at me. my productivity is so far down, and I keep thinking "yay, I have a lot of work that will make the day go by quicker!!" then I still don't do it. Tomorrow - Productive Anna is showing up to work.
I just had to meet with my two bosses to go over my case list so that they are up-to-date when I am on maternity leave. I should have just started with, "Gentleman, let's assume that I've done virtually nothing on my cases in the last six months..." It has been SO HARD to focus on anything not baby related! But meeting with them has kicked my tail into gear and I'm going to use whatever time I have left to be productive and get things done. We can do it! Or, I'm sure you can do it! Ha!
My doctor is close to my old house and conveniently close to my favorite cupcake and taco shops. So I got some cupcakes (hey I didn't get to celebrate my birthday on my actual birthday so I deserve them) then headed to get some tacos. Seriously the best decision I made all day! Then I got home and realized my cupcakes melted, still edible of course but they don't look as beautiful now
Thanks to @seitzy3 I think I might need to make a stop at a place called Cupcake on the way home.... Also, what genius came up with the idea of putting a taco place near a cupcake shop?! Talk about a little slice of heaven on earth!

And close to an OB's office...!? Somebody did their market research!
He's working on eating! And will graduate from level 3 NICU care to level 2 hopefully by tomorrow.
Thank you ladies for all of your sweet words. I told DH that I felt more comfortable sharing details with you guys then some "real life" friends. Can't tell if I have issues or if you guys totally rock. Maybe both. Regardless, thank you!!
@mom2adoodle I second what @AnnaS930 says... He doesn't look like a 34 weeker -that's for sure. seeing that pic made me so excited to meet our little guy!! If I love your baby that much what will I feel when I see mine?! All the feels!
@mom2adoodle I'm so glad you're all doing well and he's getting better! He is absolutely gorgeous, what a sweet little face
Right now I'm just ridiculously excited because my friend gave me a recipe for fish tacos that are almost bang on for Tacofino tacos... if any of you have been to the west coast of Vancouver Island in BC to Tofino, which is pretty famous for the surfing, you know what I'm talking about (hopefully). They also have a few food trucks in Vancouver and Victoria. Literally the best tacos/Mexican food north of Mexico I've ever had, and their fish tacos are
I haven't been able to get over there, we're hopefully going in a few weeks for a babymoon, but until then.. this recipe will sustain me. I just want to eat all the things right now... ALL THE THINGS.
@mom2adoodle *swoon* what a handsome little man! Glad to know he's doing better each day. Getting to take him home will be so great for you guys. Hoping he continues to improve so that happens soon!
@seitzy3 melted or not, those cupcakes look so darn good!!!
@AnnaS930 I feel the same way about tomorrow-- I need to be productive! And even though I wasn't on here a ton today, I still wasn't nearly productive enough for my first day back at work. We can do it... Productive Tuesday here we come!
Just booked a mini baby moon/wedding anniversary trip. Nothing big but spending a night at a resort in Niagara Falls. I'm so excited to get away even if just for 1 night
Anyone have any experience with Kindermusik? DD's daycare is going to start having it but I don't know anything about it. It's $20/month, so pretty cheap.
@PoodleDoodleOoo good luck to your husband!! I'll keep my fingers crossed too, that would be great timing for you all!
Yes, I think I may make that suggestion. I don't think they would come out more than once or twice but that would be an improvement over nothing (and also I love them, but 50% of the reason I want to go every day is beach and pool time).
@mom2adoodle so glad Fin is doing so well! He is adorable!
Happy August everyone! Well I spent the day seeing my OB and doing a BPP. 1st time around LO scored a 4/8. No movement or practice breaths. The tech said she would send the results to my OB but wanted me to eat/drink something to see if that would get this little girl moving. After eating she saw a little movement, but still no practice breaths, so 6/8. Now I'm just waiting to hear back from my OB.

So what does this mean? Im not familiar with that process!
@COmama87 Sounds scary but I have no experience so hopefully it's not as alarming as it seems. Hopefully your OB will get back to you really, really soon! And good for you for staying away from Google. Not knowing is hard but knowing too much is often harder! Keep us posted!
@MrsVoorhees, we did Kindermusik with my first and he loved it! They danced to different music, played instruments, practiced clapping or stomping to the beat, etc. It was fun!

I'm a music teacher and mother of a toddler. I also helped one of my friends become "certified" in kindermusik.
I prefer the "music together" program if you were out shopping for classes, because there's more variety in the music (when it comes to tonality and meter) of the music. But kindermusik is well with $20/month in my opinion. You can expect a lot of singing and dancing, rhythmic poetry and stories, and instrument playing. (And by that I mean just exploring tambourines and shakers, etc.)
The purpose during preschool years is mostly exposure. Kids enjoy it, as well try should. Having students internalize different styles of music and move intentionally to the beat at a young age opens them up to be better music learners later, and the benefits on the brain by creating music is well documented. (The same benefits to listening to music to not exist. Baby Mozart stuff is a crock.)
Re: August Randoms!!!
@mom2adoodle PLEASE come back regularly and keep us posted on Finley's progress. You MOST DEFINITELY belong here

mmm @yellowrose314 fish tacos sound ah-mazing. I've never been where you speak of, but would love a recipe if you're willing to share!
@MrsVoorhees we've never done the ACTUAL kindermusik, but have enjoyed group music lessons. I would say for $20, it would be a go to at least try!
Anybody know what might mean?
