It's my husbands birthday. We live 2 hrs away from his family, we have lived 2hrs away for 4 yrs. they have come down here twice in that time. We are up there every month/every other month. I invited them for his birthday and they declined because it was a long drive to do in a day. I didn't even tell my husband I invited them so I am carrying all this disappointment myself. i feel like because they have a grand baby within 15 min of their house they will never make the effort to come down here when our little girl is born. It just makes me mad and sad... More for my husband than me. All the hormones. And steak gives me heart burn.
@ashleaf2018 Ugh, that is super stressful and no warning too? Hoping he finds something else quickly!
@cgss11 I'm terrible at picking out paint colors! We are going with grey in our nursery too, but there are just so many shades. DH wants me to pick quickly because he is ready to get started painting and it is starting to stress me out!
For those thinking of gray I used a shade called elephant's breath from farrow&ball (matched it and used sherwin Williams) that's pretty neutral and I'm very happy with. As I said above, take a bunch of swatches and try them in different lights because they look different depending on the room.
@ashleaf2018 That is such a stressful surprise - thinking of you and FX that he finds something soon.
@BabyRobbinsAdventure I've been getting really pissed off about the language on baby clothes (for both sexes) recently. They are either overly gendered and/or overly sexualizing (I saw one the other day that said "Lock up your daughters" on a boy's onesie. Ew.), or they're weirdly specific about what the kid should be like (ie "Future Genius" or "Future Athlete"). I just can't get why people want to put these weird message all over their new little ones.
May be a light at the end of a tunnel for us, but since he is going back to school to get an IT degree, he can apply for a student worker position at a local freight company. The company has a freight and logistics department, and he can apply for the student worker position in the logistics department since it pertains to the degree he's working on. They'll be flexible with school, so hopefully he gets that. We're in a pretty small town and the job opportunities are slim, so we have talked to my parents about us moving to Memphis after the baby is born. I can finish my teaching degree there and he can also finish his degree, plus they have way more housing, although it's more expensive, and more job opportunities. I would love to live closer to my family even if it is for this reason, so hopefully we can make everything work here just for this school semester.
I went shopping with my friend the other day and was telling her the kinds of things I DON'T want to buy Squish because it's just creepy. But since DH and I are into sports we are getting clothing that pertain to sports. Heck, I already have an outfit for their first Sunday football game (literally a brown onsie that is designed like a football with pants and matching hat). So I would get something that says Mommy's All Star, especially if it pertained to baseball or football, because sports is what we enjoy in this house. If Squish grows up not liking sports, that's their choice and we'll respect it, although I'll wonder HOW!?

@phoenix870509 We love L's football onesies. He has one in every size he has worn. I crocheted a matching beanie for all 3 of us, and I can't wait to break them out this fall.

@Kate08Young I'm actually getting a onsie made that says Tie Breaker, and it's going to have the Rays emblem and the Yankees emblem on it. I'd do one for football too (I like the Saints and he likes the Jets) but we agreed that rivalry isn't as big.

@ashleaf2018 oh no, I'm so sorry. I hope he finds something soon...we're a one income household too and I would be super stressed if that happened to us
@cgss11 we picked out our color this weekend we are also doing grey for our little girl! We are doing bright white trim to make it modern and using colors for curtains, sheets, pillows etc. coral, teal maybe some gold or yellow accents. Here is the color.
@ashleaf2018 good luck girl! I can't believe they did that to him out of the blue with a baby on the way! It will be better in the long run to find a more caring company. Hugs!!!
Oh, @ashleaf2018...I'm so sorry That's not even a BF, that's legit terrible news! Here's hoping his job situation gets straightened out ASAP.
Re: frilly/sporty clothes, I'm trying to go as unisex as possible but it's HARD! I'm really not keen on dressing my girl (if it is a girl) in frilly, lacy clothes, but I will say that I've been noticing myself melting over floral prints. I'm a little scared of what we'll get at our showers, and I would super like to not announce the sex until after, but I'm sure that won't fly with the shower organizers. Haha.
Another thing I don't like at all is sayings of any sort. For the most part. I do have a onesie that says "Hello, I'm new here," and I think that's the cute type of ironic. But "Mommy's Little Whatever" isn't something I want my child wearing. Blah. I'm so picky about my own clothes. This poor child!

@ashleaf2018 what a terribly sudden blow. But looks like this could be a perfect opportunity for bigger and better things! FX things work out❤️
And RE: gender specific clothes.. Woof. We struggled with this in preparation for our shower with DD1. My H actually had the employee at BRU who put together our registry make a note at the top that said, "Dad says, "Please limit pink!" we figured it was a more subtle way of saying "chill, people." i stocked up on a lot of clothes pre-shower and posted on Facebook about it to subtly send the message that we really weren't in need of more clothes. It seemed to work for the most part and whatever we got that I didn't love got passed along, donated, or sold on local swap sites/returned to fund other things we needed. People will do/buy/say what they want in general and it becomes increasingly more obnoxious when there's a child involved. We just take it all with a grain of salt, do what we want and enjoy watching our daughter's personality unfold. She is equally in love with baby dolls as she is dinosaurs and I love it.
@leksiL That's in my final two! I'm down to that one and cathedral gray, but now I'm thinking you sold me! It makes me feel better that someone else has picked it haha. The trim is white, and we're planning a white crib and dresser and then I'll put some pink and maybe some gold accents in the room.
I also have to get a tan to go in the office, and a teal for the living room accent wall, but those have been so much easier to pick than the gray.
Can I submit my BF a day late? Because, as a petite woman with large breasts, I'm so frustrated with shopping for nursing bras. It's like it's not possible for someone with a 32 band size to have boobs any larger than a size D. Argh.
Part of this is a selfish call for help, too. Do I go for the size that fits my ribcage and risk the boobs being squished? Or do I size up and deal with my boobs falling out the bottom? I'm leaning toward the former -- aren't these things designed to accommodate a lot of variation for when milk comes in?

If that is the next size up, then you are in the wrong size. You should be able to fit your band&cup or go up 1 band size down 1 cup size and still have a good fit. I recommend getting fitted, but not a VS. They suck. If you have a lane bryant nearby they are pretty good and carry a large selection of 'hard to find' sizes.

@PensiveCrayon I second a fitting at LB. I used to work there and they very well how to size you. If you find a good place that can accommodate your nursing bra needs, please pass on the information. I have the literal opposite problem with needing a larger band size for C cup breasts.

Measurements are just a start, trying on is so essential and i hear you on the 32, I just got some new bras this weekend, 32DDD and actually found them at VS. but the style/cut is super important to how they fit me. I spent years wearing the wrong band size (34) and once I finally figured it out I am so much more comfortable. Yes it's a PITA to find the right size but once I do I just buy several of them. and as far as nursing bras, just wait until afterward your milk comes in, you'll go up 1-2 cup sizes again. For the first month just wear the uniboob bras that stretch a little.
@zubenescamali Yes...I've pretty much resigned myself to the uniboob. As is, I have incredibly non-perky boobs, so nothing looks great on me unless it has an underwire.

New BF. After a really lazy summer, this is the busiest week. I'm back to work, we closed on our house yesterday, a friend is in from out of town, have to get keys to new house, work to do there, etc. Then a monsoon hits last night and we have flooding. DH thankfully barely made it home from work, but his car his damaged. So a new expense. And trying to coordinate sharing a car until we can get a rental. But that was impossible so I'm going to have to try to uber in today. Blah.
