So with baby (fingers crossed) coming this week sometime, I'm thinking about finding the old thread that had all the drinks in it to see what my first alcoholic drink will be PP. I think the thought of a nice cold drink of something alcoholic will keep me sane for another few days until himself shows up!
@theshannondee Just looking at all those sangria recipes has me drooling. I've actually never had it before so I think it'll be a must try. I'm going to google some recipes to have on standby for whenever I'm ready to have a drink!
I just spent the better part of my morning at l&d getting checked out since my bloody show happened. Doctor wanted me to go and make sure everything was okay. Then I was sent home because labor can still be weeks away.... ugh I just want to know if its happening already.
@babycakesday I was up at L&D a few hours ago too. Thought my water had broken but nope, it's so frustrating at this stage. I'm hoping it'll come soon for both of us! Before we lose our minds anyways ha
@LF93 I know. The nurse was nice and said I could lose my plug weeks before birth and I just looked at her like "my due date is tomorrow so no this better be a sign that labor is closer than a few weeks." My dh was laughing on the way home. Im just so anxious!!
I am really annoyed with random people telling me that I'm going to be overdue and/or that LO hasn't dropped. He has dropped, thank you. I just have a little rib roll that makes it look otherwise. And he will be timely. Right, LO?! Thursday is the hopeful big day, if not sooner.
Congrats @setosh and all the other new moms! ...and good luck to all those being induced! It's hard to keep up with everything on roughly 2 hours of sleep.
@setosh It gets better! The first week PP I was a wreck with feeling like a zombie. I think your body starts to get used to it and you just reach this peak level of tiredness and then it's not so bothersome.
July BMB Siggy Challenge: Weird Hot Dog Situations
@hreed7289 I had a growth scan yesterday and baby is predicted close to 9lbs and your post has me a bit nervous about tearing! My DD was 8lbs 5 oz and I didn't have any tears...not sure I am getting that lucky this time.
@mrsmommya if you were fine the first time I think you will be ok! I had a couple of different factors working against me. One, his head circumference measured 14.5" and apparently anything over 13.25 is supposed to be a section. Second, the doctor told me I am very petite down there and my perineum had a short length to begin with.
I really loved going to the midwifes group I went to but looking back on it wish I had a little more monitoring. I think an extra ultrasound or even a cervical check (I had zero, and maybe they would have looked at anatomy too?) would have been beneficial in my case.
@setosh hang in there, it gets better! My LO will be two weeks old tomorrow and I'm finally getting a little more sleep. Take naps during the day if you can. I hope you start feeling better soon!
@mrsmommya I wouldn't worry too much about tearing. I tore the first time and didn't the 2nd even though DS2 came 2 weeks later than DS1 and was bigger (8lb 9oz).
Thanks girls! I know it is completely out of my control and really I am just worried about recovery and still caring for a 4 yr old and newborn. Plus I am getting the epidural so it shouldn't increase pain during.
Even though I got the epidural I swear I could feel every rip down there. I have about 3 sets of stitches with a second degree tear. It might have been because I pushed him out while he was being vacuumed and it took less than 5 seconds for his whole body to come out. Ow. His head was 13.75 cm but his shoulders are muuuch bigger than that.
Question for you ladies that have had your membrane stripped:
Did you bring it up with your doctor or did they? I go on Thursday, my due date, for an NST and a regular appointment. I'm just looking at options if this little guy decides that he is going to be very late. I'm hoping he stays with the family trait of being born on due dates but...yuh know.
@DachshundMomma my midwife had brought it up at my 38 week appointment and said if I hadn't gone into labor at 39 weeks, they would do one. Well it clearly didn't work for me (the 2 I had done with DD didn't work either) because here I am officially overdue and I got it done a week ago today. It shouldn't be an issue to ask and don't hesitate to do so if it's something you want done.
@DachshundMomma I'm going to ask today since she hasn't brought it up. I would like to try everything I can before getting induced via pitocin. I'll let you know what she says.

That's my thought too. I'm trying to be as natural in this process as I can be.
@mrsmommya I wouldn't worry too much just based on size - my LO was 9.5lb and my only tears were surface tears along my labia and urethra (doc said the skin just split a little), no vaginal or perineal tears at all. At 2.5w PP my stitches are all healed up and dissolved and I feel pretty normal down there.
@DachshundMomma I had an appt on my due date and asked for a sweep. If I hadn't asked I don't think she would have brought it up. My appt was with a nurse practitioner and she said she couldn't do it, but she went and grabbed an OB to come do it. So glad I asked since labor started the next morning. Worth asking!
I've been taking LO to the dr consistently since he's been born for jaundice. Yesterday we went and his regular pediatrician was on vacation so we saw another dr in the practice. His bilirubin is down so no more jaundice (yay!) and we left with a good report. So Imagine my surprise today when a pediatric cardiologist called and left a voicemail to schedule an appt at my doctor's request to take an ultrasound of Lukas's heart. Immediately I called the pediatrician. Apparently the doc that saw him yesterday heard a heart murmur. Nothing was mentioned to me - which really pissed me off but now I'm really worried as I have no experience w heart murmurs and I don't know what to expect. Eta: I'm more awake since posting this. Grammar errors were bothering me
@DachshundMomma My doctor apparently doesn't do them normally but she did it since I asked. She also advised me to try and schedule an induction this week because apparently the schedule is like full a week in advance. So here's to hoping this works because I really wanted to start this as naturally as possible too.
@samantha1206 I'd be upset too. I mean how does a doctor just forget to mention something that big?
@babycakesday I know! I plan on talking to his regular pediatrician when I see him next. I'll probably also request not to see her again. I wasn't thrilled with her to begin with
