@MrsVoorhees I never brought emmett into bed, but the number of times my dog would move in bed and I'd wake up panicked that e was going to fall off the bed was ridiculous. Really gets the heart pumping and reminded me why I would be terrible at cosleeping.
I am also having the best day ever. While I was bummed to wake up early, I said good-bye to my house guests (my brother and sister-in-law who have been staying with me since last Saturday) and I have been eating leftover cake from my baby shower yesterday while catching up on social media, napping and watching tv. It is a rainy day in MI and I have ZERO plans to do anything today. I worked 10-12 hour days last week and entertained and then had the shower (where about 75-80 people came) and then went to my in-laws house for FIL's bday. I have earned my day of restful laziness! I can't wait to go through all of the wonderful gifts we received but that can wait another day.
Oh and my mom's birthday party was moved to my house on Friday so there was no chance I would be exposed to my niece who had gotten sick (plus my sister-in-law has lupus so we didn't want her exposed either). Everything worked out nicely and everyone is healthy.

Oh and I can't believe we are packing hospital bags already! H wants me to but I am in denial that it is getting that close. This pregnancy has not been creeping by for me. It is going way too fast!

So I knew I received a lot from our registry yesterday, but I just checked online and out of 85 items from BuyBuyBaby, only 7 items remain. And of the 45 items on my Amazon registry, only 3 remain! Holy moly! Plus we got a ton of gift cards and a few multiples so I think we may be able to get EVERYTHING we thought we would need. I am in shock and awe. Talk about feeling blessed!
Now who wants to help me write the 80 or so thank-you cards?

My parents came up this weekend and help us get the house ready for baby, which was really sweet, but I'm exhausted now! We had a plan to convert the office into the nursery, but had done absolutely no prep work until Friday. Now, we have a freshly painted, cleaned, and set up room (minus the crib, which hasn't been delivered yet). We had not planned on painting, but I am so glad we did. We also finally put up shelves in this weird little side-room in the master bedroom so we have two master closets now! All I have left is to organize/toss the piles of junk we'd accumulated in the office nooks and crannies that are now sitting all over the floor in our bedroom. Good thing I've taken the year off from teaching...
Also, DH is out buying the stuff to have sloppy joes for dinner. I am so excited!
I feel like everyone has been so productive this weekend! Painting, setting things up, washing baby clothes.....it's really almost that time ya'll! @blondie080300 - I'm so glad your shower was awesome. That's amazing that your registry is down to the lastly few things!
I am so happy everyone had nice productive weekends! I've discovered tonight that I think my hips are spreading/widening or something. I've been lucky so far that my belly has pulled forward my love handles and everything looked compact. Well that doesn't seem to be the case anymore and I seem to have an odd shape around my hips. H and i agree that it's my hips widening because they look way thicker than before. I know I shouldn't get down about it but it's really bothering me! Hoping I can get used to it soon
My daughter's birthday is late August. I was supposed to be in a family wedding on that day, and it was recently called off. I hadn't planned on organizing a second birthday party because of this wedding.
Now I'm like "oh shit" and put together an evite for a hopefully small party at our house. The theme will be "birthday party." Decor will include leftover balloons from last year and that's it. I really just do not need something else to stress over!
I had the busiest weekend I've had in a while!!! I'm EXHAUSTED lol tomorrow I have to run all the errands I didn't get to today but after that I'm doing nothing
Add me to the busy weekend list. Well, today I actually rested and took a 2.5 hour nap while baby slept too. It was glorious!
As much fun as I'm having with the girls down the beach it is SO much work and so exhausting. I'm excited for this weekend bc 1. It's my birthday and 2. I get to see H on Sunday. It's been three long weeks!
oh man... i sprained my toe today when I accidentally kicked something. It hurts so freaking bad and I can't walk or put pressure on it! It's black and blue and swollen. Currently have it elevated and iced...who knew such a little part could cause such problems
@KimmySchmidt my sons second bday is 8/21. We're having family over a few weeks early. Last year it was all Pinterest worthy with a homemade cake with fondant and themed shirt and blah blah blah. This year not so much.
@RedMar@Themaritimemama I too have broken a toe and it was terrible!! Hopefully yours isn't broken, @redmar. If the pain doesn't subside I would consider going to get it checked out. I too thought my toe was going to be just fine but after a couple of hours of throbbing pain I realized it was not going to heal on its own lol
My house is so hot that I may die tonight. The ac is running and the air is coming out at 61 but it's 79 in here! Poor little ac unit has been running all day it got up to 82 at the height of the day. We are having a 5 ton unit installed tomorrow and LO and I have to be here the whole time. It's gonna be soooo hot. I don't know how the repair men stand it.
@KimmySchmidt my daughter's 3rd birthday is 7 days after my due date, I can't see myself being able to do a party with a 1 or 2 week old so she is getting a super early party almost a month early on 8/13. I'm exhausted trying to get it all put together even this early but I just can't resist doing it up big with a Justice League theme & all. (She & her Daddy are super hero nerds) With their birthdays being so very close together this might be her last BIG party by herself so I want it special even if she won't remember. I mean the pictures will at least prove I tried right? Lol.
@lovelylauren86 sweet, sweet cool air will be yours shortly!!
@VeraMali aw, that's so sweet for DD!!...but also sounds exhausting either way. Can't wait to see some JLA party pics!!
Weekend achievements: getting our stroller system out of the box and the car seat. We'll install the base in the car this upcoming weekend! T-minus ~5 weeks ladies!!!
Add me to the productive list. Cleaned out DS1'S closet, cleaned out guest room closet, put all baby stuff in said closet, cleaned out guest room, DH finally put trim in it, so now we just need to finish up the trim and change out the electric and we can move the baby furniture in and set up DS1 with his big boy room! Started baby laundry but definitely still need to do more, including prepping his newborn dipes. We still need to take the carseat back out and I need to figure out how to wash that. I was exhausted today since most of that work took place yesterday so I napped when DS1 napped which was glorious. And now here I am at almost 1 am still awake. Wah.
We bought a mini van today. I can never pass for young and cool again.
We broke down and bought one when we found out we were expecting. We seriously bought a sticker for the back glass that says, "I used to be cool."
I've been lurking instead of bumping as we swore off phones this vacation (but what else is there to do at 5am?) I hate to complain but the heartburn has been killing me and fried beachy food isn't helping. DH accused me of being in full graze mode last night and asked what I was eating "this time." Tums. I was eating tums. And apparently packing our 18mo old to the beach wore off my sunscreen yesterday and my collosal belly is burnt (but just the tip hemisphere).
Anyway, I'll be 37 weeks at my next appointment and I don't want a preemie but dear Lord this kid needs to get out. Sorry for the rant ladies, I just needed a minute
Yesterday was pretty relaxing for us. We were at the beach all day Saturday and we both had enough sun to last a while. I tidied up a few rooms of our house and together we assembled the pack n play we received in the mail the other day! Between that, little outfits and the mountain of diapers and wipes we have, it's starting to get more real that it won't be just the two of us much longer!
Well, I wasn't productive at all this weekend, but it was a wonderful weekend so that's ok! Shower on Saturday that was really awesome, and then yesterday was a perfect beach day followed by dinner at our favorite place that is closing in a week (WAH!) It's my absolute favorite burger in the whole city, which means that yesterday a burger was necessary since it's probably the last time I'll have it, ever. I'm telling you, usually I can finish that thing but with so little space right now, it was a little painful! I persevered though -- since it was my last burger at this place I knew I had to finish it, and finish it I did. I'm such a champ.
Today will be a productive day though! Picking up paint for the new place, listing some more furniture to sell before we move, and getting some packing done. Things are about to get crazy!
Question related to my last post: Are party favors a thing at a two year old's party?
Randomly popping in to say not at my son's! Like you all, I also get to throw one while super pregnant since he turns 2 next Sunday. We are just inviting family though, but that still includes a good amount of little kids. I attended another 2 yo party last Saturday that was much bigger and didn't contain favors. I personally don't plan on starting that until he's in school.
@MrsVoorhees Hahaha @ your leg/sleep post! My husband is an, um... interactive sleeper at the best of times. He talks, has thrown pillows, and has even been known to stand or sit up in the bed. (This was funny when we first got together. Now it's annoying, but I've learned if I ignore him, it speeds up the process of him stopping.) Anyway, in the first two months of McKenna's life, he would wake me up holding a folded up pillow and telling or asking if me we needed to feed McKenna. Often. We laugh about it now... it wasn't as funny at the time when my sleep was getting interrupted while the baby was asleep in her PnP because of my husband's weird sleeping thing. Haha.
@KimmySchmidt I don't think I'd do favors unless you're going to have a ton of kids her age there.
McKenna's 2nd birthday is the day before my EDD. We're going to do a birthday party with immediate family only the weekend after her actual birthday. (I'm being induced for medical reasons, so #2 will be here.) It's not going to be huge, but I've got to get everything done for it before baby gets here. Everything being a cake, balloons, and some Sofia the First plates and cups. We did a cookout last year, but we will be ordering pizza or something to the like this year.
@KimmySchmidt can I ask why there is such pressure to throw a huge party for your DD? Sounds so torturous to me!! For DS' bday a couple months ago, we had grandparents and my sister. It was a glorious 3-hour brunch and I was napping by 2pm IMO, the 2nd bday is not as much of a milestone. We had a big cookout for his first birthday, but that was when I wasn't in 3rd tri!!!
Add me to the productive people list this weekend! Although, all our productivity happened on Sunday. We ran some errands in the morning. In the afternoon, DH got the crib up, and I hung up the star decals in the nursery. Then that evening we finally got to the pool.
@UnwritteN12 I now totally know what you were talking about when getting out of the pool. (I'm pretty sure it was you.) I didn't even realize how much I hurt and heavy I feel until I was getting out. I'm going to be spending the rest of my pregnancy in the pool 2-3 times a week.
I had a busy weekend, but it was not busy in terms of baby-prep, just busy. Now I'm back to work trying to get a few things done, and considering camping tomorrow night into Wednesday (husband and I both have Wednesday off this week!) Just making sure it won't be too miserably hot overnight since we are tent campers... makes me think, someone gave us a tent fan at one point... must find that.
Why are all of you people at the beach??? There's like 5 or 6 of you at the beach right now. Hateful.
Also, like 5 or 6 of you are having birthdays, that's weird too.
hot fudge sundae bar all week at work to celebrate hot fudge sundae day.
@camichael84 My husband used to yell out in his sleep in the few months before he went on deployment. I think he was scared, but it was kind of funny/sad. Haha
Just need to put covers back on the car seat and RNP and I think we'll be ready to have a baby. Still need to decorate the baby's room but that's not a necessity. Waiting on art work and curtains to come in.
I am feeling every week of my almost 33 weeks right now. An afternoon of swimming yesterday meant my daughter actually went to bed without a fight and slept through the night. I was even able to get up before her and get a quick workout in. I thought it was a good sign for a good week. But now I'm at work and I want to lie down.

Good news is, we had a 'free' weekend with no plans and no projects!! I seriously played tons and tons of video games and ate food. LIFE IS GOOD!!!
