@frogdog06 I didn't have a water resistant cover and we were fine...I did bring my Boppy to the hospital but don;t remember if I actually used it there
I hardly ever used the boppy. I was just more comfortable holding him or resting my arm on a pillow. We have a smaller travel sized one that we brought to the hospital and didn't use. I won't bring it this time. I really only used it when DS started being able to sit up a bit to help him work on that skill.

Same. My LC taught me positions that were way easier than using the boppy.
We've gotten the most use out of our boppy as a dog pillow. Pretty sure all dogs are attracted to them.
One of my Facebook friends has three month old twins and she posted a pic of her dog in the boppy and in response she got pictures from 6 or 7 other people whose dogs were doing the same thing. It was hilarious.
I found the boppy way too bulky to use and it was uncomfortable for a lot of the positions my dd fed best in. I did use it more for tummy time and learning how to sit up though, so it wasn't a total waste, just not a fan for a breastfeeding pillow.
@frogdog06 I didn't have a waterproof cover, and never felt the need. I didn't like/use the boppy with my first, but with the last baby I had major shoulder problems and my physical therapist insisted that it would help, and it really did. I wouldn't bother taking it to the hospital...you can just use a pillow.
How many diapers did your baby go through during your hospital stay? Anyone remember?
I had a NICU stay last time and never had to worry about using my own diapers. This time I'm hoping to avoid the NICU but have no idea how many to pack. I plan on cloth diapering once we get home. (I considered doing it in the hospital but with a minimum of a 3 day stay for a repeat CS I don't like letting them sit that long.)

The hospital should still provide the diapers. Double check to be sure but I'm pretty sure all hospitals will provide them since I'm sure tons of moms come in without having time to grab a bag.

Unfortunately our hospital only supplies 6 diapers.

That's such a bummer, I know how you feel; our local hospital told us they only supply them if absolutely necessary, and we were heavily encouraged/told to bring our own. Which isn't a huge deal I guess, since we have cloth and sposies already bought, but it would have been one less thing I have to remember to pack.

Us too! We did the hospital visit yesterday and they stated that we need to bring our own diapers as well. Based on the list of things they advised us to bring, plus the stuff I think we'll need / want, my SO and I will be showing up with suitcases.
I can't believe some of you have to bring your own diapers!
We were at the hospital just over three days after DD's birth, and went through just over one pack of what they gave us. It's was a small pack of Pampers Swaddlers. I want to say there were around 25 in the pack? We changed her just as often in the hospital than we did at home. Even if she didn't pee every feeding, there was always some bloody discharge (this is normal).
We came home with a ton of diapers and baby swag (no formula or pacifiers though) from our "baby friendly" hospital last time, I don't think that's it.
Don't you pay for the diapers yourself anyway? As like, "billed supplies" or something?? That just seems so inconvenient for a mom that doesn't have a support person that either lives far from the hospital or wasn't able to bring a bag. I'm sure in special cases they would provide them, but still. That's a little excessive. I don't see how that's baby friendly even though I'm sure that's why they're doing it.
Agreed with the 'not providing diapers'. That's unreal. Our hospital provides anything and everything you will need for baby. You wouldn't have to take ANYTHING if you didn't want to.

This is my thought exactly, we emptied out every supply from that hospital room, went through all drawers of his bassinet, all tubby supplies, etc. The room was completely empty when we left (we left the hospital bed though ) Hospital bills include all of these supplies whether you take them or not, it's not like a mini-bar.
I cannot believe hospitals will not provide diapers. Would they ask any other incontinent patient to come with diapers? Do they make you pay to use a towel for the shower too?
What happens if you don't bring them? They just say "fuck you" and walk away? That can't be.
@KimmySchmidt I actually wondered that. H says we should pack it all anyways (they also told us to bring a WHOLE PACK of maxi pads) in case they basically do say "fuck you" and make H go out and buy them or something

In those first few days, you might actually go through the whole pack! I used a ton, you bleed a LOT in the first 2-3 days, and then it tapers off.

Oh yes, I'm prepared for that. I just figured I'd only bring enough to cover me for my drive home and they would provide the rest. I was shocked that I'd need to bring enough for my stay
Realizing that those who have very limited supplies provided at the hospital are from Canada actually makes a little bit more sense, but still a bummer!.

I don't think anyone expects a spa resort experience, but I do think people should be able to expect the supplies necessary to maintain your basic health and hygiene in the hospital. Especially sanitary pads. I mean, you need those as a direct result of the reason you're there receiving medical attention.

I know... I feel a little bad for bitching about not getting free diapers when I know there's people in the States who have huge hospital bills to pay for after they have their baby >.<

I'd rather bring my own diapers than pay a $5k bill.
Different things in different countries, I guess. The differences can always be a little shocking though.

Haha same... Like I'm pretty sure the pack of maxi pads and diapers I need to bring are cheaper than a hospital bill. It is still strange though!
@RG1 it's really good, it's the only accent I can do. It's definitely a very heavy accent though, definitely not how most northerners sound. My husband loves it though.
I I guess it didn't just come from Fargo. Another heavy influence was the movie, Drop Dead Gorgeous. Loooove that movie, it's hilarious.
