  • @frogdog06 thank you!!!! You totally get my struggle!! One of my best friends is Japanese and she always jokes that she doesn't believe I'm not at least a little bit Asian. I'll definitely try everything you recommended. I'm fed up with mascaras. I finally found that if I out on translucent powder all around my eye after all my makeup is on, but before mascara, it won't melt as bad.

Im looking for pretty natural, just enhanced. I don't usually wear falsies so I don't want to go too extreme.
  • @MrsVoorhees I'm the girl that has to now buy a belated bday card for my bil because I kept pushing it off knowing it was near the end of the month. Woops. Another month bites the dust!

I took DD to a play place today. It's like a big jungle gym that you climb up and over and through things. Getting my fat self and a 30 pound 19 month old through the obstacles was no joke. Now I'm cramping. We may have to stick to the kiddie section for a while longer!
  • @MrsVoorhees have you ever tried Blinc mascara? I think they sell it at Sephora. My mom has really hooded eyelids and she loves it because it doesn't smudge at all or rub off onto her eyelid. It's amazing! It forms these tiny tubes on each lash when you put it on and the only way to remove it is to use warm water and kind of pull it off. Doesn't hurt or anything- just looks kind of weird when you take it off!

I have! It really is awesome for no smudging, it stays in really, really well. The only problem is that it does nothing for my eyelashes. They don't stay curled and they don't really look any thicker. I so wish it would though because it's amazjng!
  • @MrsVoorhees yeah, I tend to use it more as an everyday mascara. I know they make an eyelash primer too. Not sure if that would help! I have the worlds straightest eyelashes and curling them does nothing  :s my hubby has the most beautiful, long, full eyelashes I have ever seen...jerk lol

  • @ahackett1990 my husband has amazingly thick dark silky hair, while I suffer through fine limp hair.  It's totally wasted on him and I find it infuriating.

  • @MrsVoorhees I didn't realize the struggle of hooded lids! Had to google it. It is beautiful looking but didn't know about the smudging and all. I alternate between Dior Show and Loreal and honestly think I like Loreal better for volume. As far as falsies, my only good experience with them is when a makeup artist has put them on for me and they do individual lashes, as opposed to the big straight across the lid look that can be too obvious. But don't know if you're getting your makeup done for your photos or not.
  • @Bibliobebe cute idea! We did that with my last pregnancy so the older two had something tangible to help them count down until the baby arrived. We didn't have to do it this time, because they know their brother will be here shortly after school starts.

@mamadomino congrats on the van! I dreaded ever having one, but now I feel like I'll be hard pressed to ever get rid of it! So spacious.

  • P.s. That reminds me, after college I had just started dating this guy and we went out for Halloween. I was dressed as a flight stewardess and had these really cheap fun eyelashes in....realized the next day that I had left them on his nightstand when I spent the night

@Bibliobebe oh man these dreams are back full force and are realer than ever.

Speaking of vampires, I had a nightmare the other morning that there was a bat in the nursery. I picked it up by both its wings and held it away from my body... I woke up with my fingers pinched in front of DHs face.
  • I love all the stories about dreams and then waking up doing the thing

  • @RedMar that is a mind boggling question.

Random: We went to a beer festival this afternoon, but it got way too hot (95F) so we spent the rest of the day at home. I have been doing laundry nonstop (sheets, waterproof this and that, blankets) and now swear by Eco Balls!!!!
  • @RedMar - Even though ours are boy/girl, we did think about that both times. For us, Baby A had the non-negotiable name. For example,  if our first two had both been girls, they would have been Elleanore & Evelynne. But we knew that, if we had boy/girl twins, we would use Elleanore for the girl. So the non-negotiable name was Elleanore which would have been Baby A if both had been girls.

Sounds weird but that's how I always thought about it for some reason.

@mamadomino This may be a really dumb question, but can you tell them apart now in utero? Like one is kicking and you know if it's a or b?
I guess I just always thought that they were called a and b for ease of talking about one of the other, but is the same one a throughout? And how do you know?
  • Awesome @SLou24 we went to the beach for my birthday yesterday - it was amazing! :) Have a great day and Happy Birthday!
  • I love all the twin questions! I've always wondered these things too

@drmh22 mine are both up and down, one on the left and one on the right, with my placenta on the top.  They've mostly stayed in the same place, although they somehow continue to be able to flip vertex to breech and back.  A has always been on my left and was further down, b is on the right and was higher but now has her little head right on my cervix. Usually they label the lower one A, which they did with mine.  Since B is now lower they refer to her as the "lead twin".  I can only tell who is kicking if it's on the side I know they are on.  I get some movement in the middle but not a ton, I have no idea who is moving when that happens.  It's getting easier to feel a whole baby in one spot because they're just running out of room, so sometimes I can guess that way.  And I kind of have a flat spot in the middle where there's no baby.  It's all pretty weird actually!  I think if they are fraternal it's likely easier to tell them apart based on where their placenta is or if they are different sexes, but since I have just one placenta and they're both girls they go by location.  Mine are growing evenly so I doubt it matters too much, some identical twins have different growth patterns and that would tell you as well.

  • Didn't somebody get flamed hard core on one of the bmb for making a garland? Or am I making that up?

@mamadomino thanks for the clarification! It's so interesting to think about. So if you had a name for baby A it would be the one on the left, not necessarily the one that came out first, right? I'm guessing you or they or someone can tell which is being born.

It was a drive by posting about how she eats a jelly bean every day from a jar that has a countdown number of beans. It wasn't so much that she was doing it, it was that it was her first post and bump people don't take kindly to that!

Yeah, same question! If they're born vaginally and there's not a difference in weight, how do they know
which one it is? This is all so interesting!

I just packed some stuff in our hospital bag... Eek! H and I are super cheap so there is stuff I know I should just buy doubles of to have in there so I don't have to do it last minute (I really don't like feeling unprepared) but I don't know if we will. There's already so much on it that we will need to grab last minute though. We are 1 hr from the hospital so not really able to pop home if we forget something. Oh well! Pretty sure I won't be too concerned about forgetting minor things once I have my baby out!

I have never packed a bag but that's because somebody had to go home anyway. I won't be packing anything his time either as my spouse will go home every night. That said really all you will need is clothes to go home it and hair/make up stuff. And toothbrush

I strongly recommend staying in the hospital clothing that way you don't accidentally bleed on your stuff and if you plan to try and breast feed its easier (especially if people are trying to help you).
  • @MrsVoorhees YES! That's what it was, the jelly bean thing. I couldn't remember and it was driving me nuts.

@drmh22 yes, we have a name for the baby on the left and the one on the right.  I have a billion ultrasounds so they always tell me who is lower.  they will check right before delivery that whoever is coming out first is head down, so I'll know which one it is.

I recommend for those that are FTM to bring flip flops to wear home. Especially if you end up with a unplanned c section you feet swell up so bad they might not fit into regular shoes.
