What did you wear? maxi floral dress from Motherhood
Was there a theme? Fishing
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. I wish I would have had more energy, but other than that it was great
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part was seeing everyone!! We got so many books for baby and our car seat!!
Any pictures you want to share? Onsie decorating and a picture of my sister, mom, niece and I.
How many people attended? About 40 people...maybe a few more?
What did you wear? Casual cotton fitted tank top dress from Target.
Was there a theme? Not really...it was a BBQ diaper party at a local park so it was about outdoor games and fun.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes - it was perfect weather and a perfect place for a party. We had a bunch of people not show up for various reasons, so we were left with a lot of leftover food, but it was great to see everyone in one place!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Our families have only met a handful of times (his being spread all over the US and mine being in Canada) so it was great to bring everyone together again!
Any pictures you want to share? I actually didn't take a million photos, like I normally would...wish I had thought to take more! Here's a pic of the cookies we made and a pic of my dad and I which I find hilarious.
@rock1cherry LOVE You and your dad. My boss is known for taking a belly comparison pic with pregnant mamas at their showers, I can't tell how he really feels about it although he's usually the one to suggest it. Your dad is clearly beaming with pride, very very sweet picture.
Was there a theme? Is "She's having a baby!" a theme?
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was so wonderful! It's crazy this was my 4th shower and each one seems unique and special in their own way. DH and I are SO lucky that we really have a village to welcome us into parenthood and love our child!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. So many favorite parts it's hard to pick. I loved my grandma's awkward questions so she could determine the gender (we're team green). She was all - is your butt really wide? If its' really wide it's a boy. Have you been super horny?! Stand up and turn around. Do you do it a lot? Cause then it's DEFINITELY a boy. Oh you're butt's not wide at all, it's a girl for sure. Of course she had to yell this, not just ask it at a normal volume level. Then she was all "your baby will probably be hairy like a monkey because your dad was super hairy and I thought I gave birth to a monkey." And you had lots of hair too, so good luck with that. It's just so like my grandma to be like overly outspoken and I love her for who she is.
We had about 10 little girls under the age of 8 and they kept coming up to me and tickling my belly because they wanted to "tickle the baby." It was the first time all the belly touching was more adorable than annoying! And I had 10 little girls "helping" me open all my gifts - which really went like "here open this. Wait i'll do it. LOOK YOU GOT THIS THING (holds it 2 inches from my nose). Okay next gift!"
But really the best thing was being with all my cousins and aunts. We don't get together very often anymore, so when we do it always feels super special!!!
Any pictures you want to share? Unfortunately, the only ones we captured were really, really ugly photos, so I'm not sharing!
How many people attended? 15 adults and 4 kids (2 of which were my own!)
What did you wear? Black and white striped t-shirt dress from Target
Was there a theme? Fox theme I guess? My invitations had a fox on them and the diaper cake had one as well.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was so nice to have a small group of just my close friends and family. I was able to talk with everyone and not feel like I was rushed and not able to enjoy myself.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. The games were fun. My friend threw the shower and she had a "What's in your phone?" game and a Price is Right game. But it was really great to see my aunts and friends I hadn't seen in awhile.
Any pictures you want to share? I covered my friend's face since I don't know how she feels about her picture being on the internet but we are due one week apart and we had to get a bump pic together. And a few pictures of the decor. (There was another table of food in the kitchen. We had more than just cookies and cupcakes!).

@annas930 thanks! my dad certainly is excited...it's his first grandchild so he's a little anxious. Haha. This is the second belly comparison pic we have done. Wish I had the first too!
I'm so happy everyone's showers went well this past weekend! Mine is this Saturday so I will try and update as soon as I am able. Good luck to all of the mamma's having theirs this week/weekend!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
How many people attended? 17 people (All DH family/siblings/kids)
What did you wear? Jean blouse / navy stretch pants
Was there a theme? It’s a girl – few decorations. Was supposed to
be a baby bbq type theme but didn’t happen
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. All of DH’s extended family were invited but none came. The one surprise
was to meet his new boss that showed up and stayed for a good while. She was a
great sport about handling my in laws because man can they talk!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
While it was just all his immediate family it was a lot of fun and we ended up
eating then going to the neighborhood pool and ordering pizza for dinner (it
started at 2pm with bbq then by 8 folks were hungry again)
Any pictures you want to share? In the rush of things we didn’t get any photos. Definitely gonna try to
take pics for the next one this Saturday with my family.
When was your shower? July 17 this will be my 3rd and final baby shower for this baby. This one was for military families.
How many people attended? My husband and I and 39 other couples.
What did you wear? White linen pants and a blue flowy blouse.
Was there a theme? Once upon a time
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Omg I had no idea what to expect. Just know we ended up leaving with over $2,000 worth of gifts!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. I have two- When my husband won the daddy's swaddling game and when I won a big raffle prize!
Everyone's showers look so fun! I hope you ladies @blondie080300@CindyLouWho427 have a great time at yours this weekend!
I have mine next Saturday and am anxious to see how it turns out. My SIL is hosting and hasn't told me much other than where / when and that my shower will be the first time in about 15 years that both my MIL and step-MIL will be in the same room! Crossing my fingers for a drama-free day!
When was your shower? My Baby Shower was on July 16th
How many people attended? About 25 guest
What did you wear? Loved my dress, felt pretty and comfortable throughout the day
Was there a theme? Pink and Gold
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Exciting to see Baby Abigail use and wear the clothes she got!!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part was playing the games. We did the My Water Broke Game, Measure Mommy Tummy and for the guys it was the putting a diaper on a balloon without popping it.
@jensou no it was Jackson in Action 83 Foundation for military families. This was their 3rd one. They plan to do one every year in Tampa, FL. It was amazing.
What did you wear? Clothes! An orange dress...if you're looking for specifics.
Was there a theme? Safari/animals
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes - it was really nice. I usually don't love showers, or being the center of attention, but this was mostly close friends and family so it wasn't too uncomfortable.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite part - the donuts (hello, inner fat kid!!). Also, my MIL's coworker also knitted an awesome safari themed blanket for the baby (pics below) - it was an awesome & thoughtful gift. Least favorite part was opening cards...My hands have been numb for weeks, and it make tasks like that very difficult.
How many people? Around 75-80 people (it was incredible!)
What did you wear? A lavender and blue floral maxi dress from Motherhood Maternity- super comfy!
Was there a theme? Storybook theme
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes, everything was lovely! We ended up getting almost all of our big/expensive gifts from our registry. I was shocked that the clothing was purchased at a minimum and we only received like 2 packs of diapers! This is totally ok as people spent their money on all of the items we registered for (which was not clothes or diapers lol). Two of my friends gave me huge bags full of hand-me down clothing which was just perfect.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Some of my favorite moments include the surprise from my grandma and aunt when I gave them a thank-you card/gift for helping with the shower. My grandma teared up and said she wanted to cry (and she is not emotional). It touched me to know that my small token of appreciation of her meant so much. She is my last living grandparent and I want her to know how much she means to me so that was a beautiful moment. I also loved how many people actually showed up and the generosity shown by some that I would not have expected (some truly went above and beyond in terms of gifts and price point of gifts). My least favorite parts were not getting pictures with all of my friends and families. Most of them took pictures together while we were opening gifts for an hour and a half and unfortunately I wasn't in them! LOL. I also was a little anxious about some friends that came later and had to sit with people they didn't know. I felt bad since I know how awkward that can be. But otherwise, the shower exceeded my expectations!!
Everyone's showers look really pretty and fun! I can't wait for mine next Saturday. Though I'm not a general fan of showers, I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends.
What did you wear? White blouse with jeans (same blouse I wore for my previous daughter's shower for comparison)
Was there a theme? Princess/Hello Kitty
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It went okay, we had a few games, some folks didn't show up and didn't cancel either so that was disappointing. My husband ended up staying for the whole thing and played games too, he was a good sport. My mom wasn't thrilled but I was happy he was there to help keep things light. I was nervous when I headed to my mom's house but they had it beautifully decorated it took my breath away. The photo's don't do it justice. They out did themselves.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. The Decorations and flowers. The corsage my mom got me was gorgeous too. Least favorite, the planning for it, my mom was stressed out and we both were on edge.
Any pictures you want to share? See collage below:
Everyone's showers look really pretty and fun! I can't wait for mine next Saturday. Though I'm not a general fan of showers, I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? My sister did a great job and the whole thing was stress free!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Favorite thing was seeing all of the kids from my group of friends playing together it was so sweet
@lovelylauren86 not sure if you mind, but you may want to remove the image of the invitation with the address and email address on it. You never know...
Love seeing all of the pics ladies! I'm getting super excited for my shower next weekend!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes! It was perfect! We served some finger foods and hotdog (Brazilian style). After we had an ice cream buffet with 9 flavors and many "sprinkles" for toppings. It was great!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. My favorite part was to see everyone that loves us there! I loved that all my family had matching outfits. Least favorite: I had about 10 people that rsvp saying they were going and they didn't. But it is ok...
@geminigirl16It wasn't a fully mixed shower- we had a handful of guys but sort of by default- my one male intern, my dad and brother, and my nephew. And, if I counted the few other guys who ended up popping by we had my husband, grandfather, and uncle- but if I had made it co-ed we would have had an invite list of over 100! I have a HUGE family, so just with all women the invite list was almost 70 people!
What did you wear? A maxi dress- navy blue on top and orange, teal and cream zig-zag patterned bottom
Was there a theme? Crafty like a fox We had it at the art museum I manage but the nursery is woodland/forest theme so we incorporated foxes and artsy crafty stuff
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes it was absolutely wonderful. I would have loved to have more hand-made decorations - I love to do that kind of stuff but they wanted to do it so we ended up at Party City the night before buying decorations lol. My mom and sisters really wanted to host it- but they are the worst at planning and organizing- so they kept meeting and making lists, but never doing anything- so at the last minute, the night before, my aunt and I ran to the store to pick up extra plates and napkins, cups, decorations, etc. and my aunt was up till after midnight making extra food and desserts- thank goodness because there wouldn't have been enough! Plus the food they picked wasn't anything I would have picked- so my aunt saved the day with her Swedish meatballs, seven layer dip, cookies, lemon squares, pineapple delight, etc. Drink-wise they ended up having to run out after it started to pick up wine coolers and beer (I told them that water and sangria wasn't enough- plus the cousin who was supposed to make sangria ended up making a special kind of shot instead). People-wise it was perfect, but I was totally overwhelmed by how many people were there and trying to make sure I spent at least a few minutes with everyone. AND it was so damned humid! I forgot to put on lip gloss, and I didn't take any pictures so I'm waiting for family to share the ones they took. We also got so many awesome gifts! We got all of the big items and a lot of the other items from our registry that we wanted, plus tons of extra clothes in all sizes. We only got two gifts that we didn't love that we can't return (a super odd hand-made scare-crow doll that is creepy as hell and is getting donated ASAP and a bedtime buddy that had no gift receipt, so we will likely use it at one of the grandparents homes in the sleeper there). Only thing that I was bummed about really was that two of the games didn't get to happen- my one sister works for Planned Parenthood, so she was going to bring in a big bag of condoms and have a contest where everyone had to blow them up like balloons (picture the older women doing this- like my MIL- I would have DIED laughing), and the other was having people place index cards on their forhead and draw on them what they think baby will look like and I was supposed to pick a favorite. We just didn't have enough time for it all!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. My favorite part were the "games"- my sister made baby word scrambles and wishes for the baby cards - the wishes ones were awesome!!! I'm still reading through them and I love seeing what people wrote- most are hilarious and others are so sweet. I also really loved the craft we did- I printed out letters and numbers and spread them all on a table with a sign that said "Aiden's ABCs & 123s" and had people color them in and decorate them to put into a book for the baby. People LOVED that idea- and so everyone at some point was gathered around that table decorating letters and numbers. I still have to go through them all, but everyone really loved it. My least favorite part was opening gifts- we had far too many so opening them had to be rushed like mad! My mom and sisters decided to have an assembly line- my sisters grabbed gifts and gave them to me, my mom opened the cards and wrote who got what on the back of the cards, and my sisters ended up unwrapping half the gifts and I looked at each thing for about 30 seconds max- and it STILL took an hour! So I felt like I didn't get to ooh and ah over anything, I barely remembered what I got, and I didn't see most of the cards- it was chaos. I did try to take time and read some of the cards out loud when I could. My grandmother wrote a beautiful letter that I made sure I read out loud (and had to fight back tears because it was so sweet), and a few other funny ones.
Any pictures you want to share? Waiting on family to share theirs since I didn't get a single one myself! I'll share them when I get them
Did it go as you expected/wanted? it went even better than expected. We had some issues with favors we ordered that never came but instead of freaking out my mom whipped some up at the last minute. The food was good, all my loved ones showed up and we got tons of stuff!
What was your favorite part? Seeing my fam and friends in one place and also the food! We did a salad bar with various types of salad and it was all so delicious
What did you wear? Black and white dress with denim jacket over top
Was there a theme?
It was simple but classy. SIL hosted it at a friends restaurant and used the colors I like (soft green, blue, grey) and had personalized banner and personalized table runners that people could color, great food (fruit, cheese, cold cuts, sbagels & smoked salmon, mini scones and banana bread, mini quiches, mini breakfast poutines, mini chicken and waffles, mini cupcakes...and I can't remember what else. It was great!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? it went even better than expected. I only knew the time and location and didn't have to do anything else which was really nice!
What was your favorite part? My MIL and SIL conspired with my mother and she flew across Canada to surprise me at my shower. I had no idea that she was coming and was so surprised when she popped out from around a corner that I burst into tears! It was her first chance to see me pregnant and it meant a lot that they went through so much trouble for me
Question on etiquette: During the time of planning my shower, there was a possible Canada Post strike so my SIL did paperless post email invitations. Can I do nice email/e-card thank you'd to people or do they have to be handwritten? As I've mentioned in other threads, I have carpel tunnel and holding a pen is pretty painful these days. Suck it up or use online methods for thank you'd?
What did you wear? black and green floral maternity dress from Kohl's
Was there a theme? Not really. There were some song and book quotes. Everything was pink and purple.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It went really well! There were a bunch of games - baby scattergories, close pin "baby" game, guess the belly size (not my fave), guess the due date and draw the baby without looking. Lots of finger foods and goodies. We got extremely spoiled! We got a lot of handmade gifts too!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Seeing my family and friends from back home that I don't get to see as much as I'd like. Also, finally celebrating the baby! It makes it feel so much more real that next month we will have a baby!

It was so much better than I expected and I am just overwhelmed by everyone's love and generosity.

My favorite part was to see everyone that loves us there! I loved that all my family had matching outfits.
Least favorite: I had about 10 people that rsvp saying they were going and they didn't. But it is ok...

My MIL and SIL conspired with my mother and she flew across Canada to surprise me at my shower. I had no idea that she was coming and was so surprised when she popped out from
around a corner that I burst into tears!
Edit: it ate part of my post
How many people attended? 20-ish?
Any pictures you want to share? Of course!
