Re: Randoms Week of July 18th

  • Here's a question - does the heartburn/re-flux ever go away? Some days are better than others, but Tums have become my best friends recently.

  • For many in our bmb, the heartburn /reflux diminished some during 2nd tri.. Now that I'm in 3rd tri, even I'm getting some reflux.. BOO!  It's just because now there is no room for digestion, so everything just has a bit more of a struggle to digest.  Sorry you're dealing with it. :(
  • @Piperella well, it's encouraging to hear that it diminishes. Sorry you're still having reflux as well. I keep saying it's all worth it in the end, but the feeling is so crummy when it happens.

I had heartburn only for few days at around 12 weeks , so i dont have much insight about that.

I have a random question, i am 23 weeks now and i have been feelings movements very low close to my pubic bone. I was feeling that flutter feeling mostly when i was sitting and leaning towards the desk. But last few days i have been feeling very strong kicks right above my pubic bone. The fact that the baby is so low and close to my cervix kind of scares me. Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this ?
  • @Tulips29 for me the heartburn was horrible first trimester. It was a lot better second trimester, but unfortunately reflux in the middle of the night emerged in the 3rd trimester. It's been disgusting and I had two nights of actually choking on reflux because I guess it went down the wrong pipe. I have to take famatodine every night preventative now, but luckily that seems to have solved he issue.
  • I can releate to the heartburn @tulips29. Every single night :disappointed: I had none in my 1trimester, yet it has hit me in my 2nd. I have pills for hurtburn laying around everywhere as I do not want to be without!

I feel my kick very low too at @zoefer. I have an anterior placenta, and where she kicks I do not have a placenta (although she now kicks hard enough to feel through the placenta too as they are sometimes higher)
My friend asked if she could feel the kicks..i was like..uhm, maybe not
I don't feel her kicking downwards, just very low.

  • I have had zero heartburn does that mean it will happen in my second trimester? I thought ppl said heartburn is due to ur child having a lot of hair. Guess it may not be true
  • @ultratomato I haven't heard of that, but had to laugh...guess I'm going to have one hairy baby? lol

Well, good thing I got plenty of Tums to last through all the heartburn

  • @tulips29 I had horrible horrible heartburn in my first tri . Literally everything gave it to me . I felt like I couldn't open my mouth without burping lol . Now that I'm in my second tri I haven't had much at all . I get it now when I eat the things that gave it to me pre pregnancy but don't have it regularly ! Hope it gets better for you !!

  • @tvh1982 HAHA I just LOLed over here.

Random rent/vent: I've had it with this week already and it's only Tuesday. I was supposed to have my NT scan today + blood work, etc. Well I'm 2 hours away from my appointment and the office just called me to say their ultrasound machine is down and they are cancelling all appointments for today. GAH! I stayed home from work for this! I frantically started calling the other places my OB gave me and luckily 1 place was able to fit me in today, only because I can't wait longer to get the NT scan. Phew! This + my migraine on Sunday + my handbag breaking on me last night as I was running home in the pouring rain is enough for me to call it quits on this week. Sorry for the rant, I'm just annoyed and ready for this week to be over!

@Tulips29 what a bummer! I'm glad you were able to get in somewhere else. Hope you get to really enjoy seeing the baby today. Hopefully that will help put a bright spot in the day

ok I need to preface that I love my mom and she really is one of my biggest cheerleaders but she's driving me crazy today! She lives in another state and they are going to throw me a shower b/c all of our family, friends are out there in October. But she keeps trying to get me to change the timing... First she wants me to come after the baby is born so people can meet him and now she wants me to come out for a long weekend over Thanksgiving. Baby is due at the end of December. There is no way I want to drive 6 hours 4 weeks before the baby is due. I'm grateful that she wants to throw the shower but she just can't quite get it through her head that I'm not coming out there so close to the baby being due or when he's 2 weeks old!

Tough one with your mum. Try to keep her on October. And tell her you'd love to see her in the new year, but it is too stressful to travel so close around your EDD, before or after. She might not like it, but understands in the end.

  • @WishingforLuck @Griffin5413 thanks ladies! I'm looking forward to it. I've had a bit of time to calm down so thinking positive thoughts!

@Griffin5413 I can understand your frustration. Agree with above, your doctor will probably want you to stay put so close to your due date, or even when he's so little. I hope you can figure out the plan with your mom. I'm sure she means well, but hopefully she can understand that you and the baby come first and you have to do what's right.

@tvh1982 thanks for your answer, it is good to know that it happens to others as well. I thought the baby should be way up somewhere in the abdominal region and it scares me that she is so low kicking. When are they supposed to turn heads down ? I guess they are still small at this point and can move around freely right?
  • They have still tons of space @zoefer
Mine has always been laying low and often feet down on ultrasounds.
I do feel a bump or head moving from one side to the other, but not from downwards to upwards. Guess she's comfy sideways and up straight :)
If I'm not mistaken babies will turn with week 30...but not quite sure.

  • I switched to Naturally Fresh deodorant ((this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JVWV32/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it works fine in the cooler months. Not so much in the summer, so I reverted back to regular deodorant for the next 2 months at least.

@tvh1982 I hear from others that it's normal for babies not to be active all the time. Though I hope she gives you a good reassuring kick today! We used to put headphones on my friend's belly and play random music when her baby wasn't moving just so we can get him to move and it seemed to work. I'm sorry I can't offer you other advice.

  • @tvh1982 the same thing happened to me a week ago I believe . I'm only a week behind you I think . I was freaking out and almost called the doc because before he was moving like crazy . I used my fetal Doppler really quickly to get a heart beat even though I had told myself I was going to retire the Doppler- because I recently read the sound isn't good for our babes . After a few days his movement came back but still I would say some days I feel a ton and some barely anything .

I have read that laying on your left side will get them to move ? I have no clue if there is any truth in that . I have felt my boy move more when I go to yoga - in the meditation part . I think the movements can be so small and depending on the position of your placenta it can be harder to feel . I have an anterior placenta as well .  Hope your lil lady gives you some good movement soon !! I know it's so hard not to worry - but from what I've read this can be very normal . Somewhere I read that the movements are not felt consistently until 27-28 weeks I believe ?

  • @tvh1982 your worry is understandable. Some days my baby girl is very active and some days I would go without feeling her movements. I was told to drink something cold or eat something sweet and that worked for me. I hope your little one eases your mind soon with plenty of movements.
  • @tvh1982 - hope you feel your little one today. I know one of the girls in my offices has an app on her phone where she tracks movements. I'm not there yet so I can't really offer any advice though. I'm definitely going to remember some of these suggestions for the next few months though!
