@AllyTheKid, oooooh what breast pump did you decide on???
I'm thankful for a nice relaxing weekend with DH. It was DH's bday on the 16th so we drove down to Ensenada/Wine Valley in Mexico (2 hours away from where we live in San Diego) and then stayed at an awesome and cheap B&B, had delicious food and I even got to sip red wine from his wine glass... and we napped a bunch! So refreshing! Here's a pic of us at one of the restaurants we discovered (and loved!). The kitchen was all outdoors, you could watch the chef cook on open fire, etc.
We missed our reservation because we napped from 4PM - 7PM (oops!), but they let me move it to 7:45PM and we ended up watching the most beautiful sunset over the vineyard from our table.
Tell your DH @annabenanna that he has a fellow Cancer birthday buddy on the East Coast! I celebrated Saturday, too!
Which is why I'm all gushy today - my husband went all out to celebrate this year and couldn't have been sweeter! I woke up Friday morning to find he'd left muffins and gummy bears (my fave) for a "sweet start to my birthday weekend," then had flowers delivered to work, made me surf and turf for dinner that night, topped it off with cheesecake, woke me up Saturday morning to take me to "fancy" breakfast, then stopped at a farmer's market, where there was live music and blueberry mojito sorbet (SO. GOOD.), took me to the outlet mall and let me drag him into store after store, then topped it off with delish dinner at an amaaaaazing Mexican restaurant in Philly where he got the staff to sing Happy Birthday, and then we stopped in a piano bar, where even though I couldn't drink, just him leaning in all cozy and playing with my hair and whispering in my ear had me all kinds of warm and fuzzy. He kept saying that it was my last one just us, so he wanted to me to feel properly spoiled, and that it made him so happy to see me so excited. Cue the preggo tears!! I'm usually the one who goes all out for others on their birthday, especially his, so to be on the other end was just so fun! Needless to say, I started this week all kinds of lovey dovey. (After eating alllll the Mexican I could pack in...complete with churros and dipping sauces!)
You're going to have a gorgeous baby. @annabenanna
I am just happy today for no reason. DH and I had a great weekend together, DD has been super sweet lately (instead of tantrum like), and I feel like an end is in sight for the nursery. I usually dread Monday, but today is a good day!
@LMNOBaby, Happy Birthday!!!! You look so happy and glowing in your picture! I would have cried too. What a sweet hubby you have!
@nlane0723, I hope you're right!!!! The only half Jewish half Filipino person I know is Rob Schneider! And I keep praying "please Lord don't let this baby look like Rob Schneider!"
I am so happy you guys had such wonderful weekends! The both of you are just glowing ♡
@LMNOBaby So I have to ask... did he finally surrender himself to your sexual appetite? I've been rooting for you! Haha
@annabenanna Medela Pump in Style Advanced Double Breast Pump. We're buying instead of renting because I'd like to pump as long as I possibly can this go around, and I would also like to keep the pump for future use. I'm not 100% positive we are DONE expanding our family yet. And if nothing else, I could offer if up to a mama in need later on
@serenaxo84, sorry about the bedrest...but yay for the clean house! I know what you mean, it DOES make a huge difference. Last week, I was so fed up with a dirty house, that on Thursday evening, I vacuumed the entire house, changed all the sheets for all beds AND I mopped! I was hurting after, but it was so worth it.
@AllyTheKid, That's the one I hope to get too! Just hoping that DH's insurance covers it. I'm waiting on our marriage cert to come in, so I can switch over to his insurance.
Haha @AllyTheKid - he did!! I was actually trying a shirt on that ended up being too tight in the boobage area - and that did him in. I wish I could say I was able to entice him with my sexual prowess, but here's to clothes that don't fit in just the right places that lead to lots of bedroom fun!
omg, @annabeanna! You made me giggle outloud! If it makes you feel any sorts of better, my newphew is half Filipino/half Jewish... His mom is Filipino and looks nothing like Rob, although he's a tiny munchkin of a boy. I'm sure your little one will be a cutie, too!
Your birthday sounded wonderful, @LMNOBaby!!! Happy birthday!
@annabenanna LOL! FWIW- I have always found something unconventionally attractive about Rob Schneider haha My insurance doesn't cover that pump, but I've used the free hand helds, and ain't nobody got time for that... it's worth just buying. It's already in my Amazon cart!
@LMNOBaby Twas Fate that brought that too-small shirt to your bust!
@Piperella, your nephew is a cutie!!! He gives me hope!
@AllyTheKid, unconventionally attractive..... I don't even know what to say to you! He's not attractive to me at all! lol. He's funny though. And funny guys ARE attractive... so I guess I get you. Kinda.
@annabenanna I am a sucker for a sense of humor! It seriously adds like 3 bonus points on a 1-10 attractiveness scale. So if you're a 5 but you make me laugh, you'll get 8 treatment
@LMNOBaby Wow - what an amazing birthday! So, so sweet & special! Your H earned lots of points on that one!
I'm in a better mood after reading everybody's post. I seriously was just scrolling through smiling when my co-worker walked by a min ago. And then laughing out loud at @annabenanna's rob schneider GIF! I am 100% confident that your baby is not going to look like rob schneider but you crack me up!
@annabenanna that made me LOL. My husband is half Chinese and half Irish and I think he is gorgeous. However, I'm Native American and white and our DD looks ALL Irish, so you never really know how those genes are going to play out in the end. I keep joking that this baby is going to look nothing like her sister.
@AllyTheKid I saw you said your insurance doesn't cover the medela pump in style but if they offer medela at all you might be able to get a discount or they might cover a portion of the pump. Also I feel like babies r us has them on sale a lot!
that's how my insurance does @AllyTheKid ... I can get the one version they want to cover but can upgrade for a fee. What are your thoughts on things like the cooler pack and such? Would it be helpful to have? Or more of a waste because of size?
@bnsmith85 I personally would go for the cooler pack and tote because I have been in a pumping-at-school situation where I really could have used them to keep my milk chilled... then again, you could always go the cheaper route in that regard and just buy a big lunchbox and regular coolers which would work just as well! I also would not spend a bunch of money on extra storage bags and bottles from Medela because the pumps themselves fit many other cheaper brand bottles and storage bags.
Edit to add: Assuming the electric pump uses the same size bottles and bags as the hand pump, which I'm sure it does. I have a Medela single hand pump and that's what I'm basing my knowledge off of. Having a double electric sounds so amazing right now!
oh... good idea on the off brand bottles @AllyTheKid... That's not exactly the sexiest gift so I have a feeling no one will be buying us the extra bottles and such from our registry. Which means we'll be taking care of that
@bnsmith85 I was gifted some basic little cheap bottles from Walmart at my sprinkle last go around, and I used those along with the Medela ones that came with the pump. The hospital also gave me a few sets of storage bottles that fit the pump since LO was in NICU and they wanted me to pump whatever I could whenever I could, so it's worth asking your nurses about too, they are usually really good about loading you up with just about anything you could need
I really hope I have super kind RN's when I deliver! I'm truly planning to rely on them to stock me up on so much. Mostly those mesh undies and giant pads lol @AllyTheKid
@AllyTheKid the only season of AHS I liked was the first one. Hope you like them all.
As for my happiness ... it's been a whirlwind around our house. Since we found out I was BFP, we have been on a mission to get everything we wanted and needed to get done to the house. We redid our office, nursery and finishing up our remodeled basement. My Dad flew up from FL to do it for us and so far it came out amazing! Just need to paint and have the carpet installed. Then off to furniture shop! So happy it's almost all complete with time to relax until our little man arrives!
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
@bnsmith85 From my own experience, they are always willing to help out and stock you up They have no problem passing out pads and PP Panties like candy haha
Ahhhh I just had the nicest stranger lady tell me all good things like, "You're all belly! I didn't even notice you were pregnant! You look wonderful!" She rubbed my belly, but I DIDN'T EVEN CARE. I want to have her around all the time.
@SpaceBurger yay!! I had a good experience yesterday too! The cashier asked when I was due, didn't make a face of any kind when I told her October AND told me I looked adorable
This morning the local breakfast place made super fluffy awesome biscuits. DH texted me a picture and told me to come get some. Ate one there with some scrambled eggs and got to take the last 2 to go. I may have already eaten one of them.
(PS was anyone else put on a 3 day high carb diet before their 3 hour GTT?? I'm not complaining, but it seems so backwards...)
